In this glorious passage, our eternal security is reiterated, we are assured that there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus, and we are told that all things work together for good to those that love God and are the called according to His good purpose. God's Ultimate Purpose in every born-again child of God is that we are to be conformed into the likeness of His dear Son. God, Who knows the end from the beginning, knew before the foundation of the world which members of the human race would freely trust Christ as Savior. God foreordained and predestined that all who are saved by grace through faith would become like Christ in His perfect, glorified manhood. Jesus was a Man Who depended entirely upon the Father throughout His whole life. His entire character was a perfect reflection and image of the Father. In like manner, we who were once dead in trespasses and sins have been predestined to become just like Christ, in every essential characteristic. Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Our United Prayer:
Father, we willingly submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in us and pray that You would search every aspect of our lives and rid us of every trait that does not reflect the beauty of Jesus. Thank You that You foreordained this amazing transformation of our characters into His glorious likeness. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

We Cannot Live On Bread Alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, and the Scriptures are the spiritual food that God in His grace has given us for our Christian life and spiritual growth. No matter what chronological age we may be, our desire for the Word of God should be like a hungry, little newborn baby. We are to feed on the Word of God day by day in order to mature and grow spiritually. We are to be doers of the Word and not hearers only so that we may apply the important spiritual principles that are contained within its pages. We are to preach the Word to others so that lost sinners might hear and believe in Christ to the glory of God. May we never stop desiring the milk of the Word so that we may grow thereby. May we meditate on the Word of God, trust His Word of truth, believe on His precious promises and look to Jesus day by day in the power of the Holy Spirit of truth so that we may grow in grace to His praise and glory. 1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons Your Word teaches and for its cleansing power, purifying effect, and spiritual nourishment which is so necessary in this time when the foundation of our faith is being attacked in all quarters. May we sincerely desire the pure milk of the Word so that we may grow in grace, mature in the faith, and become increasingly conformed into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. We are reminded that this world is not our home, and as guests in a foreign land, we will have to undergo the same sort of hostility the Lord Jesus endured, from sinners who opposed Him. But as God's blood-bought children, we are beloved of the Father Who disciplines those He loves so that we will be trained through the sufferings of this world, and afterwards enjoy the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Peace And Holiness Are To Be Our Spiritual Condition as well as our spiritual position. As His children we are already at peace with God because He forgave us our sins by grace through faith. But we are also to make every effort to maintain the inner peace of God that surpasses human understanding, by maintaining a mind that is stayed in Him. We are holy unto the Lord because we are set aside by God and positioned in heavenly places in Christ, and we are to be holy because the Lord our God is Holy. We are to be holy by setting ourselves apart for Him, as a living sacrifice: "Holy and acceptable unto the Lord," surrendering to Him in every corner of our lives and every attitude of our being, surrendered to Him for His praise and glory, through time and into eternity. Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we have been redeemed, sanctified, and set apart by You, because we are Your blood-bought children. Our dear desires are that our lives are truly holy and set apart for You in thought, word, and deed. If possible, as far as it depends on us, we pray that we would live in peace with all people. Help us to keep the eyes of our hearts fixed on Jesus, and we pray that the lives that we now live in this body may reflect our heavenly position in Christ. In Jesus' name, AMEN. In His teaching, Jesus gave examples of the right and the wrong way to live. He explained the acceptable way to do charitable deeds and the godly way to fast and pray. He frequently took examples from the natural world in order to teach an important, spiritual truth and to teach that pursuing kingdom truths which will last forever, is of far greater value than chasing after the temporary treasures of this world. People Of God Should Not Be Worried Or Concerned about such things as food to eat and clothes to wear, He is our Shepherd and Provider, and has promised to supply all that we need. The children of God who anxiously fret over their daily needs and necessities are demonstrating a serious lack of faith in the word of God and behaving like the unsaved who do not know the Lord. The quickest way to cause fear to evaporate is to focus the eyes of our hearts steadily on the Lord Jesus, and in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, to cast our care on Him and to make our requests known to God: and then the peace of God that passes understanding will fill our minds and flood our hearts and our faith will flourish. Matthew 6:32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  Our United Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, too often we have allowed worry and fretful fears to overtake our hearts and minds, which causes our faith to falter when we should be looking to You and remembering Your never-failing faithfulness. Thank You for the simple truth in the Sermon on the Mount, that God knows all our needs and will never leave us comfortless. Help us to always remember that if You feed the birds of the air and clothe the flowers of the field so beautifully, You will most certainly take care of Your children, who have trusted Christ for salvation. Help us to keep the eyes of our hearts on Jesus and not on the circumstances of life - in Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. We are all so familiar with the armor of God as laid out in Ephesians 6... but no matter how much we learn about it, there is so much more to discover... every piece of our spiritual armor points us to the Lord Jesus, the eternal Son of God and every aspect of our holy covering is immeasurable. The very first piece of our protective covering is truth. We are instructed to have our loins, "girt about with truth," without the gospel of truth which comes from above, we believe a lie. Without the truth of the gospel of Christ, we are dead in our sins and condemned to an eternity without God. Let us hold fast to The Truth Of The Gospel of grace that was once delivered to the saints and stand firm under the covering of Christ's own purity, wherewith we are clothed by faith. Therefore, let us take up the full armor of God so that we will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, we will be able to stand. Ephesians 6:14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life and that we have been clothed in His own righteousness by grace through faith. As we live out our lives, we pray that we may walk in integrity, speak the truth in love, and be continuously clothed in Christ's own righteousness, so that we may stand strong in these days, and having done all to hear You say, "well done, good and faithful soldier," to Your praise and glory, AMEN. God's Sabbath rest was rudely interrupted by sin, but God in His grace knew before the foundation of the world that man would disobey Him and His work of redemption would have to begin at a point in time. God foreknew that man would sin against Him and that only the shed blood of a perfect Redeemer could pay the price for the sin of the whole world. So He purposed to send His only begotten Son to be born into the human race to pay the price for sin. And so began God's ongoing work of redemption. The salvation of man's spirit, soul, and body became God's Continuous Work Of Salvation from the moment that man sinned. God's Sabbath rest was halted, and He began His amazing work of redeeming fallen humanity, which was why the Lord Jesus answered the Pharisees by saying: "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working." Indeed, the day was fast approaching when Christ's redeeming work on the Cross would result in the defeat of sin and victory over death for all who would believe in His name. Each member of the Church has their own unique role in the salvation of mankind, and that work of salvation; spirit, soul, and body, will continue until there is a new heaven, a new earth, and eternal rest for the Creator and His creation alike. John 5:17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”  Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, Who has become our current, continuous, and eternal Sabbath rest. Thank You for Your ongoing work in the lives of both sinners and those that are saved by grace through faith. Thank You for our own salvation, justification, sanctification, and future glorification. You started good works in us, and we pray that it will be completed in the day of Christ Jesus, to His greater glory. May we rest in You Who is our Sabbath rest so that You may work through us for the benefit of others and for Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. The magnificence of the immense universe declares the wonderful handiwork of our Creator God. It tells of the amazing work of His creative hand. It speaks to every person who has ever lived on this terrestrial globe of a caring God Who created the heavens, formed the earth, and fashioned all that was made in those six astonishing days of creation. The Wonder Of The Heavens tell forth the glory of God and the wider expanse of God's amazing creation continues to declare day by day of the amazing work of God's creative hands. Creation is one of two 'books' (creation and conscience), that God has given to every man born of woman and every woman begotten of man. These 'scrolls' tell forth the wonders of His name. We have also been blessed to receive a third 'book' from our Creator God: The Holy Scriptures, which not only detail God's wonderful creation week, but His amazing plan of salvation, that fallen man can be saved by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Who laid aside His heavenly glory to be born into this sinful, rebellious race of mankind so that all who believe in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection would not perish, but have everlasting life. Psalm 19:1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.  Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, when we look into the heavens and see the splendor of Your handiwork and the glories of Your creative power, we are moved, to proclaim Your glory and to declare the wonderful works of Your mighty hand. But when we look to the Cross of Calvary and see Christ, dead, buried, and Resurrected to life so that by faith in Him, we might be reconciled back to God, be forgiven of our sins, and become Your children and heirs, we are lost in wonder, love, and praise, AMEN. |
