PRAYING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY
Only a believer can please God. We please God when we are justified (initial salvation), but we also please God through a sanctified life (ongoing salvation). It is ONLY through Christ's imputed righteousness can we please God, "for without faith it is impossible to please Him." But once we are saved we are to please Him by living by faith. Once we have believed in God's saving grace through faith in Christ, we are also to believe that, "He rewards those that seek Him," as stated in Scripture. There is rejoicing in heaven when a sinner believes, but we truly please Him when we LIVE by faith. We please Him when we are not being influenced by life's problematic circumstances. If we desire to please our Heavenly Father, we are to LIVE by faith and not by sight. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we realize how quickly and easily we can move from trusting You to doubting Your Word, when things do not go the way that we expect. We pray that like the men and women of faith Hebrews, our trust in You will not falter. Help us to earnestly seek You day by day, we know that only as Christ lives in and through us, by faith, can we be pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, AMEN. The Lord Jesus not only died to pay the price FOR us our sins, but He also died AS us and in the place of us. They were OUR sins, but He bore the punishment for us so that we would never need to be punished for them. As the sinless Son of Man, He paid the full burden-weight of the accumulated sins of the whole world, past, present, and future, and He also identified with all who would believe on Him so that we might reckon ourselves dead TO those sins as we live our Christian lives. Everyone who would ever trust in Jesus as Savior is considered by God to be His seed, His spiritual seed, and while the Lord Jesus walked this earth we were reckoned to be IN Christ so that when He died, we died IN Him "so that we might die to those sins and live righteously." “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus died to pay the price for our sins so that we too may live lives that are dead to sin and alive to Christ. Thank You that Jesus took the full force of the wrath of God in His body on the tree so that we might die to those sins and live righteously in Christ Jesus. we pray in Jesus' precious name, AMEN. Jeremiah was faithful in delivering the Word of the Lord to the people of Israel, despite his message being rejected by the masses. Yet Jeremiah trusted God's promises. He was part of a little remnant of committed believers and cried out for healing and deliverance. Like Jeremiah, we are called to be faithful in the work that God has given us to do. We are not to become discouraged if our life appears mundane or our ministry seems unfruitful. Like Jeremiah, we are called to be faithful to the point of death and we will receive healing, deliverance, and the eternal reward that God has prepared for those that love and trust Him. Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for teaching us your plans and purposes for mankind and Your goodness and grace toward us. May we learn from our mistakes and be guided into godly living. Thank You that You can be trusted to fulfil Your promises to Your people and to correct us when we go astray. We pray that we would be faithful in the work You have given for us to do, and thank You that in You is healing, wholeness, hope, and joy, for You are our God and are worthy of all praise, AMEN. Too often in life, we discover the folly of opening our mouth and responding in careless haste to the words and actions of others, and too often we react in annoyance or anger only to discover that we had misunderstood the facts of the matter, causing us to regret that we spoke so quickly and reacted so hastily. If our words and actions are to be seasoned with salt and honoring to our Father, we should especially be quick to hear the words of wisdom that come from the Scriptures and to be wise in our response to God's voice. Sometimes we may not like what we hear, and sometimes believers have been known to argue with God and become angry at His Word, but the wise man or woman will be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, particularly in the things of the Lord. My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, Our United Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the wise instructions it contains. We know that having a quick temper and easily becoming angry does not benefit us or those around us and does not glorify You. Help us to put into practice the wise words of Psalm 15: "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word, stirs up anger." Help us to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There are many places in Scripture that remind us that the cares and concerns of this world can become a burdensome load in our lives. 'Independence' proudly proclaims that it has built up a range of coping strategies and self-help skills to deal with all the stresses and strains of life, while 'Pride' arrogantly announces that it is well-able to go it alone - but the Word of God paints a very different picture. We have been told by the Lord that we cannot manage our daily problems on our own, and this is a severe blow to our self-ego and fleshly-pride, which is rooted in the old sin nature. We are told that strength will be freely given, when we admit our weaknesses and inabilities, and we are charged to hand over all our cares and disappointments to the Lord, Who has promised to bear all our burdens because of His loving-kindness and tender mercy towards us. Never doubt the integrity and truth of God's Word, what He has promised He will fulfill. May we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt us at the proper time - and cast ALL our anxiety on Him, because He cares for each one of His blood-bought children. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we confess that for too long, we have depended on our own sufficiency and tried to work out our own problems in our own strength... but we thank You, God, that You care so much for us that we can cast all our burdens on You and give You all the hurts, disappointments, and worries, that seem to be flooding our lives today. Thank You that we have the sure knowledge that You have promised to carry every anxiety and pain. we admit, dear Father, that we are weak in ourselves, but praise You that we can draw on Your amazing strength today and in the days that lie ahead. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
