Freedom is the cry of every man and woman, every boy and every girl. And Jesus proclaimed: "If the Son makes you free, you will be FREE INDEED." How important to recognize that there is a huge chasm between knowing facts about the truth as a historical fact, or as some detailed information, and actually knowing the truth about the unique Person and saving Work of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is a vast difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing the Person of Jesus - having a personal relationship with Him, as outlined in the Scriptures. Every man and woman is born dead in sin. Everyone lives in bondage to sin. Everyone is a slave of sin and is entrapped by sin. Every man and woman is estranged from God and shackled by the heavy weight of sin. But there is one way, and only one way to be set free from slavery to sin, Satan, death, and the curse of the law - and that is to know Christ personally - not simply to know historical facts about Him, but to know Him as one's own personal Savior Who willingly died in our place to pay the price for our sin. When we are set free from slavery to sin, Satan, death, and the curse of the law by the redeeming blood of God's only begotten Son, we know the Son as Savior and the Son, Who loves us, gave Himself for us, and sets us free forever. John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You for sending Your Son to be our Savior and for setting us free from slavery to sin. Thank You that in Christ we are set free from the curse of the Law, and thank You that the punishment that we deserve for our sins was paid for us by the Lord Jesus Christ, so that by faith in Him we are truly set free. May we live our lives to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

Christian liberty is not a dangerous doctrine as the legalists and law-mongers would have us believe. Legalism seeks to change the old sin nature from the outside and forces it to obey God's perfect, unachievable Law in our own strength, but it fails every time. The surrendered believer who is walking in spirit and truth, is yielded to the guidance of the Holy Spirit Who works through our new life in Christ, and over time we discover an inner discipline at work. The spiritual Christian discovers the righteous requirements of God's law being fulfilled in and through them. How wonderful to discover this godly FREEDOM we have in Christ Who has set us free from the yoke of bondage by means of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is working in us, day by day, transforming our new life in Christ into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we have been set free by Christ and are no longer under bondage to the Law. Thank You that through the Holy Spirit's work within, we are enabled to live our lives for others and not for selfish inclinations. Continue to work in us and through us so that we may live lives that are pleasing to You and glorifying to Your holy name, and keep us from falling back under bondage to legalistic practices, knowing that we have been set free by grace through faith in Christ's finished work on Calvary. This we ask in Jesus' Holy name, AMEN. What comfort, rest, and reassurance wash the hearts and minds of believers when reflecting on the overwhelming love of God and the depth and height and length and breadth to which His grace extends. His mercy dwarfs the mightiest mountains, it reaches into the highest heavens. His love plunges beyond the bottomless depths of the deepest oceans, and His LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS, righteousness, and justice plummet to the very depths of our understanding and extend into the farthest reaches of our limited grasp. This knowledge of God is not for the unregenerate, the wisdom of God is foolishness to them. Indeed, God's foolishness is wiser than mankind's wisdom, and His weakness is stronger than mankind's combined strength. But such understanding is sweetness and strength to the sanctified soul, for true knowledge of the Holy-One is spiritually discerned. The knowledge that comes from the Lord quickens our heart, comforts our soul, informs our thoughts, and translates into joy and peace. May we lift our hearts morning by morning and every moment of our transient lives, by raising our voices in joyful thanks and praise. God's loyal love reaches to the sky, His faithfulness extends beyond the clouds, and His saving grace spans the eternal ages to come. When we reflect on Who You are our Lord and God, it gives us a peep into the magnificence of Your person, Your will and Your character. Thank You, for the many reassurances that You give our fainting souls, in these precious promises about Your nature and character. Thank You for expressing Your love, faithfulness, might and justice in the Person of the Lord Jesus. Thank You for sending Him to die on the cross and to rise into newness of life, so that we may be brought into fellowship with Yourself. May we be bold in sharing the truth of Your magnificence with all You put in our paths. In Jesus’ name we Pray, AMEN. The Tree of Life stands like two majestic book-ends in the Word of God. In Genesis we find this life-giving Tree growing in the midst of the garden of Eden, offering eternal life to Adam who was made in God's image and likeness. All he had to do was to simply choose to take and eat of the fruit that hung from its branches, he could freely eat of every tree in the garden with one exception. In Revelation, we discover the return of the Tree of Life standing in the midst of the paradise of God: "It will produce twelve types of fruits, and yield its fruit each month, while its leaves are given for the healing of the nations." Paradise lost, in the beginning, becomes Paradise restored at the end and whoever 'overcomes' will be able to eat from 'the Tree of Life'. Whoever's faith is credited with righteousness will be able to eat of its life-giving fruit: "Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." Blessed are the ones that trust in the Lord and whose hope is in the Lord our God. He is the true Vine in Whom is life eternal; He is the Bread of life; He is the living water, the Rock of our salvation, and the Hope of all the ends of the earth. A Longing Fulfilled Is A Tree Of Life: ALL who feed on Him in their hearts by faith, with thanksgiving, will eat of the Tree of Life and find Him to be their Source and Sustainer through time and into eternity. Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ is the Light of the world, and in Him is life, and health, and wholeness. Thank You that in Him, we find peace with God when we trust Him for our salvation. Lord, the peace You give is so wonderful it cannot be found anywhere else. Your heavenly peace which passes understanding, guards our hearts and minds and enlivens our souls. Thank You for Your amazing plan of redemption for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting, and that the day is coming when we will see Jesus face to face and have full and free access to the living Tree of Life. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The days in which we live mirror the days about which James was writing, and the lesson that they were to learn is one that we need to understand fully and apply consistently if we are to resist the temptation of Satan who seeks to shipwreck our faith. Let us consider times of testing in our lives as a God-given opportunity to produce in us perseverance, steadfastness, and patient endurance. If we can consider the obstacles of life to be opportunities that mature our faith and produce in us patient endurance, we will come to understand that God is using the trials of life to benefit our Christian character, and to help us grow more like the Lord Jesus. When trouble comes our way, let us consider it an opportunity for great joy, knowing that The Testing Of Your Faith, our patient endurance has a chance to grow and our life will glorify our Father, Who is in heaven. James 1:3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we desire to grow in grace and become more like Jesus. We are beginning to understand that in this life, we will have testing's and trials. We pray that You will keep us steady in the trials of life. Thanks be to God that by the power of the Holy Spirit, the testing of our faith will develop perseverance in us. May we come forth as gold, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Throughout his letter to the Corinthians, there are practical admonitions and little encouragements for the saints in Corinth to live lives that honor the Lord. Paul wanted all the believers there to grow in their Christian faith and to walk in spirit and truth. He tackled things that caused division within the Church and exposed the foolishness of human wisdom, by contrasting it with the wisdom of God. He touched on marriage and related matters, and laid down principles of godly conduct. He discussed the importance of the Lord's Supper, the varieties of spiritual gifts and The Supremacy Of LOVE. It may be a simple instruction to the Church but it is one of the greatest challenges with which any of us can be presented, for it is the Holy Spirit of God Who calls us to live as Christ lived and to love as Christ loved. Such divine love is an impossibility in our own limited, human strength. It is only as the Holy Spirit is given way to carry out His work within, that this impossible command can be carried out. Every action and every attitude, every word and every work, each thought of the heart, each decision of the mind and even the motives that influence the choices we make, need to be bathed in the purifying gaze of the Holy Spirit, washed in the fountain of God's divine love and covered with the unconditional grace of Christ Who for love of His Church went to the cross willingly so that like Him, everything we do may be done through HIM - in LOVE. 1 Corinthians 16:14 Let all that you do be done with love. Loving Father, we confess that in our own strength, it is impossible for us to carry out all that we say and do in love, but we know that it is possible in the strength and power of the Spirit of love. You have promised to pour Your love through us to others, so that we may love others as Christ loves us. Use us to be vessels of love in the lives of all we meet, knowing that it is Christ that loves through us and not us ourselves. In Jesus’ name we Pray, AMEN. A worldly hope is founded on irrational thinking, empty vanity, a humanistic philosophy, and man's deceitfully-inspired prospects, resulting in disappointments, frustration, confusion, and shame. But Christian hope is founded on an altogether different principle which is rooted in God's trustworthy goodness and the gracious promises of our Heavenly Father. Christian hope is centered on the never-failing Word of God and His many precious promises, which are all 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Gracious Gift Of HOPE is secured on the unchangeable and unconditional love of God, which He poured into our hearts by His Spirit, when we first trusted Christ's finished work on Calvary. The love of God was poured out in great measure when we first believed, and it grows into an ever-deepening awareness of God's great love for us which remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. Never question the length and depth and height and breadth of God's gracious love towards you. God demonstrated His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The hope that comes through faith in Christ does not disappoint, because the supernatural love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who was given to us, through time and into eternity. Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, loving Father, for Your unconditional and unchangeable love. You have poured Your love so abundantly and generously into our hearts. Enable us to show forth Your love in our lives, so that others will come to a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. In Jesus' name, we Pray, AMEN. Faith Is Believing All God Has Said In His Word; first for our justification, and then for living a sanctified life. Faith is accepting scriptural truth as a firm fact. Faith is having the assurance that what we hope for in Christ will certainly come to pass. Indeed, without faith it is impossible to please God. The man or woman who lives by faith uses life's stumbling-blocks as stepping stones. Faith allows obstacles to be changed into opportunities, and wounds that are inflicted become a witness to the generous grace He pours out into our lives in great abundance. When we live by faith, we remain in fellowship with the Lord, and can become healing balm and a godly comfort in the lives of others, who are facing similar difficulties. Living by faith frequently contrasts the visible unreality of this fake, false, and failing world, with the invisible reality of true, glorious, eternal, heavenly things, that are our promised inheritance, in Christ. Happy is the one who understands that faith is not only required for salvation, but is the necessary ingredient to live a victorious Christian life. Living by faith simply means that we trust completely all that God has said in His Word. 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. Our United Prayer:
Father, thank You for our great salvation. We pray that You would help us to walk by faith, to live by faith, to pray in faith, and to trust all that is written in Your Word of truth, by faith. We pray that we may die to ourselves and our own abilities, and rest entirely on You and Your sufficient grace in all we say and do. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Whether you stand gazing at the deep midnight-blue sky where a multitude of shimmering diamond-studded stars are twinkling overhead or whether you pick up an authoritative journal that outlines the staggering dimensions and design of the Milky Way, the innumerable numbers of other gigantic galaxies or countless number of stars that are visible to the human eye, you can do little more than wonder about our astonishing Creator Who, at a moment before time began and in a place before space was created, spoke the world into being. When I Consider Your Heavens , the innumerable stars in a boundless space, which extends far beyond the reaches of mortal eye and contains immeasurably more that mankind's limited imagination can consider, each have their appointed place in God's overall plan. While the Lord set the sun and moon in place to govern the day and the night, it was mankind who was made in the image of God who was ordained to rule over the earth as God's appointed regent. God created mankind to have dominion over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, the cattle, and over all the earth and every creeping thing upon the earth. Psalm 8:3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we stand amazed when we consider the insignificance of mankind in the context of the splendors of the extended universe, and yet, You loved us so much that You gave Your only begotten Son to pay the price for our sins. For this we give You eternal praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Paul often lays the foundation and fundamentals of faith early in his writings. He then identifies anything that has caused his readers to stray from the truth, or has diverted their attention away from Christ. Finally, he explains how these truths should be applied to our individual, everyday lives. Having been freed from the restrictions of the Law, through faith in Christ, Paul's earnest desire was to instill in us the higher life that we have in Him. He wanted to get across that we are no longer bound by law, but are under grace. Therefore Do Not Let Anyone Judge You and Paul spent many verses outlining who we are in Christ and the privileges we have in Him. As guilty members of the old creation we were under God's condemnation, but by faith in Christ's redeeming work, we are part of a new creation, which has been set free from the requirements of the Law and have been declared forgiven saints. There is now no condemnation for those of us who are in Christ Jesus: Colossians 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ died for us and paid the full price that was required of a guilty sinner. Thank You that in Him we are no longer under the curse of the Law and required to follow any religious rule and ritual, but have become part of a new creation that is identified with Christ and His righteousness. Thank You that we are no longer under the old cursed creation, but are part of the new creation in Christ. Help us to live as Christ lived, to love as Christ loved, and to do only those things that are pleasing in Your sight. Thank You, in Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The whole of Psalm 2 looks forward to the day when the Lord Jesus will be crowned as King of the whole earth and will set up His Millennial reign over the nations. On that day, He will rule the nations with a rod of iron as God has promised. Because of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, God raised Him up and exalted him to the highest place of honor by making the nations His inheritance and the ends of the earth His possession: "Ask Me," were the Father's instructions to the Son, "and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession." The nations of the earth may conspire against the Lord and against His Anointed. They may mock our Savior and imagine a vain thing. But God is our God and Christ is our Savior, and blessed is everyone who takes refuge in HIM. Psalm 2:8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. Dear Lord and Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is our Savior, and thank You for lifting us from the fallen rebellions race of mankind, clothing us in Christ’s righteousness, and seating us together with Him in heaven. All praise to His Holy name, AMEN. James desires to get some important truths across to his fellow-Christians. He seeks to warn us against favoritism, to remind us of the dangers of an unruly tongue, to encourage us to seek wisdom from the Lord, and to avoid the devastating danger of pride which manifests itself in covetous cravings and evil desires. He exhorts us to remember that Scripture teaches that the Holy Spirit of God yearns over each of us with a godly jealousy that desires that we walk in spirit and truth and live humbly before our God. God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. He resists the arrogant but gives grace to those that are lowly of heart. Since all the evils of the world are conceived and birthed through the corruption of our own hearts and the lusts of our own flesh, we are to exhibit genuine mercy and deep humility of heart, knowing that the Lord bestows His grace generously to those that are humble of heart. Knowing that grace is given to the humble, we should earnestly seek after the precious fruit of the Spirit which will only develop and grow in the one that recognizes that every manifestation of sin is rooted in a proud and arrogant heart: He Shows Favor To The Humble James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for the great grace that You show to us every day of our lives. We pray that we would heed Your serious warnings against prideful boastings and not yield to any ungodly ways. Rather, may we come to You on bended knees with broken and contrite hearts. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. How frequently we take our eyes off the Lord and focus on our own mounting problems and the multitude of enemies that seem to accumulate outside our door. How often our trust in the Lord falters and we allow our hearts to fail within us, for fear of what is happening in our lives and the lives of those we love. How important to look to the Lord for our strength and rely upon Him to provide all that we need according to His riches in glory Our God and Savior is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His promises are altogether sure, His mercies are new every morning, and His grace is sufficient for all our mountainous problems and every taunting terror. He has promised to undertake for all our immediate circumstances, if only we would cast all our cares upon Him, He cares for us. Great is His faithfulness for the Lord our God is our salvation and His Blessing Is Upon All His People throughout time and into eternity. Psalm 3:8 From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of David who, despite the multitude of enemies that sought his destruction, and in spite of the many trials and tribulations he was called upon to face, he remained a man after God’s own heart by trusting You through all the changing scenes of his life. Help us to cast all our cares on You and to rest in Your love, knowing that You have promised to supply Your sufficient grace in all the trials we may be called upon to face. Help us to depend on You alone so that the life of Christ may be lived in us, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The habits that we set up in our thinking, develop a fixed mental attitude which pre-determines the way that we respond to life-situations - a mind-set that influences our reactions to the circumstances that touch our lives, a disposition that constructs a set of self-imposed values and perceptions about God (and other people) that may be twisted or false, unless they are founded upon the truth. Death in Scripture means separation from God, and for a carnally minded believer, death means estrangement from God, broken fellowship, ,inner turmoil. When a believer develops a carnal mind-set, we habitually construct a false set of values, incorrect perceptions about God, and distances themselves from the Lord that bought them. But praise God we can rectify this sad state of affairs by changing the way we think, by habitually setting our heart on heaven by continuously looking to Jesus and by fervently drinking in His Word by developing a spiritual mind-set that understands, The Spirit Is Life And Peace. Romans 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your faithfulness, that even when we are faithless You prove faithful. Help us to keep the eyes of our hearts fixed on Jesus, and help us to develop spiritual mind-sets that honors You. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. God gave an unfolding revelation of Himself to mankind through His prophetic Scriptures. Much of that revelation, though concealed in the Old Testament, was penned to the Church in the New Testament by Paul. And Romans is a book that systematically and logically takes us into a fuller understanding of God's plans and purposes for salvation, redemption, sanctification, glorification, and all that accompanies the riches of God's grace towards us who were once dead in trespasses and sins, but have now been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. It was eternal God Who commanded and caused this wonderful revelation of Himself to be gifted to man, through the Holy Scriptures, and He did it for a purpose: "To advance Obedience That Comes From Faith among all nations." The wisdom of God is truly incomprehensible to the human mind. But even though we now see through a glass darkly, we have the blessed hope that we will one day see Him face to face, when the mystery of the ages shall be fully known. But for now, having had the mystery revealed to us in the beautiful face of Christ, let us say with Paul: "To the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen." Romans 16:26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we thank and praise You for the glorious revelation of Your amazing salvation, by grace through faith. Open our hearts to know You more. May we love You more each day, and walk in the path of righteousness, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
