We are to ask our Heavenly Father for the things we need and we are to keep on asking. We are to present our simple petitions to the One that has promised to provide for all our needs and comfort all our heartaches. We are to seek the Lord and to keep on seeking Him, by Him and through Him we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. We are to apply ourselves to diligently and earnestly seek the truth of the gospel of God, as we search out all the words concealed in the Scriptures and discover the many surprises that are hidden in the Word of God. The more we seek the Lord, the more our faith will be established in Him. God Has Promised To Answer All Prayers of those who diligently seek Him, but too often our prayers are selfish or soulless. Too often our calls and half-hearted, lack passion, or simply become a formula to be followed. Prayer, however, is the greatest weapon that God has given to His children, and we have been instructed to pray without ceasing. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for breaking down the barrier between God and mankind and permitting us to come into Your holy presence in prayer, for mercy to find help in time of need. Help us to pray and keep on praying in spirit and in truth. Help us to pray purposefully and persistently, and in accordance with Your will. May we learn to ask in faith, to seek You with all our hearts, and to knock with patient endurance so that we may live according to Your will. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. To live the spiritual life that God requires of all His children means that we should be willing to submit to His will and authority, in every situation we meet. In all our day-by-day dealings, we are to remain submissive to His leadings and obedient to His corrections, trusting His Word, listening to His voice, and Depending On Him Alone. We are not to rely on our own human abilities, actions, intuition, and strength, but only do those things that we hear from Him. The spirit and the flesh work in opposition to each other. They lust against one another and are totally incompatible one with the other. Our regenerated human spirit and our old sinful fleshly nature will remain bitter enemies and in conflict with each other, throughout our earthly life. But through the resurrected life of Christ, we have been given the means to walk by the Spirit so that we will not carry out the desires of our old, sinful, fleshly nature. Overcoming the lust of the flesh is found in Jesus Christ. He alone has given us the power to overcome the desires of the flesh and it is achieved as we walk in spirit and truth, in submission to the Holy Spirit of Christ. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us regenerated human spirits, and the power to live our lives in spirit and truth. We pray that, day by day, we may walk by the means of the Spirit and submit to His leading and guidance. Help us to listen to His voice, submit to His will, and be obedient to His correction so that we will not succumb to the desires of the flesh but rather walk in newness of life. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Every phrase and every word in this beautiful High prayer of the Lord Jesus as He faces the shadow of Calvary's Cross, are thoughts upon which we should take time to reflect. From beginning to end, this is a prayer that should cause us to rejoice with great joy and praise God with deep reverence. We see Christ interceding on our account at the throne of grace. We discover, in this intimate exchange with His heavenly Father, an exquisite prayer; so profoundly beautiful and intimate and yet so far-reaching that you and I are included in its universal scope. Generations of yet unborn men and women who would trust in Christ for the redemption of their sins, are those for whom the Lord Jesus prayed. Jesus Prayed For Our Unity in the Spirit. Christ desired that the Church, which is His Body, is unified in spirit and truth, "that they may be one, even as We are One." Sadly, this verse has been assimilated into the perverted doctrine of the 'New Age' philosophy and the interfaith movement, where all gods are the same, as well as the ecumenical lobbyists who are prepared to adopt a watered-down, compromised 'gospel' message for the sake of political correctness. As Christians, we are God's ambassadors on earth who we have the privilege and responsibility to be His hands and His feet, His eyes and His ears, His heart and His voice, as we share His gospel of hope to those that are lost in trespasses and dead in their sins. In His grace, Christ prayed that we would be united in spirit, in truth, with the same unselfish, godly compassion and concern for others that He has for us. that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for this amazing peep into the heart of Christ as He offers up this earnest High Priestly prayer about unity in the Body of Christ. We pray that our lives would be, in a small part, an answer to that prayer so that others may see our lives and glorify our Father in heaven. We pray that through our witnessing, many may be drawn into an even closer relationship with Christ, our God and our Redeemer, in Whose name We Pray, AMEN. Of all the gifts and graces that are poured out in great abundance into the lives of believers, there are three that out-shine and out-last all others. When prophecy is complete, languages cease, signs are silenced... and miracles of health, healing, provision, and protection are no longer needed. We are told that these three, spiritual fruit of God’s amazing grace will continue and will remain and abide into the eternal state - Faith, Hope And Love. In this earthly life, faith must remain a high priority. Faith is vital, we live by faith and not by sight, and the blessed hope we have in Christ, and His soon return, does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, Who has been given to all who trust in Christ for salvation. While faith and hope will certainly continue throughout the eternal ages, our faith and hope will always be in our heavenly Father. It is love that will increase and multiply. Love is a gift of God, and love is the primary a fruit of the Spirit that will continue to grow and expand, beyond our wildest imagination. The eternal love of God that has been poured into our hearts will continue to increase and multiply, the love of God is eternal. Our understanding and knowledge of God must continue throughout the ages to come. Our faith in Him will stand fast forever, and our hope in Him will be forever realized. But it is the love of God that He has for us that will move us ever closer to the love that we have for Him as we abide in Him and He in us, through time and into eternity. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Our United Prayer: Thank You Father for Your gift of salvation by grace alone simply because we believe in Your Son. Thank You for the hope that is set before us and thank You for the love of the Lord Jesus, which was demonstrated to us on a wooden cross, over 2000 years ago. May His love flood our hearts and pour through us into the lives of others, that they may know Your love, have faith in Your finished work and receive that blessed hope in their hearts, that only comes from You, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN. The wonderful LOVE of God for those that trust in Him is once again laid bare in this first chapter of John. Perfect love casts out fear, and our relationship with our heavenly Father, which is founded on Christ's finished work at Calvary, should give us inner joy and a profound peace. As His blood-bought children, we are reminded that we should have boldness in the day of judgement and not be filled with fear or concern. Fear causes our heart to become tormented. We have an assurance, because our future is not only recorded in the Word of God and settled in heaven, but we have the Holy Spirit in our heart as God's guarantee that all that He has promised to those who trust in Christ for salvation; He will fulfil. The love that God has for the world and the love that Christ has for the Church, was written in blood on a wooden Cross over 2000 years ago, and the future day of judgement should not hold any fear for those who have been saved by the blood of the Lamb. Perfect love, divine love, the holy love of God which, "first loved us," is surely established as the ultimately highest pinnacle of our Christian life and the capstone in our relationship with the Lord. We love him, because he first loved us. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, when we think of the depth of Your love for us, we are overwhelmed. we cannot love as You love, unless You pour Your supernatural love through us, so that it may flow through us and out to others. Thank You that we are being conformed into the likeness of Christ. May the seed of love that You have planted within our hearts, blossom into godly love. Take our lives as vessels through whom Your love is shed abroad into a world where real love has been corrupted. We love You, Jesus, and we Pray for this in Your precious name, AMEN. It must have been devastating for the prophet Jeremiah to witness the fall of Jerusalem, the enslavement of his people, and the destruction of the holy Temple of God. He knew that the reason for this painful period in Israel's problematic history, was due to the gross sin and spiritual adultery of God's chosen people. Despite the inner turmoil that grieved his soul and the outer destruction he witnessed with his own eyes, this man was able to stand firm on his HOPE in God, knowing that His mercies are new every morning, the Lord is a faithful God and true to His Word and the same holds true today. As we see the systematic destruction of sound doctrine in Christianity today, as apostate teachers and false prophets infiltrate the churches of Christendom and seek to destroy the very foundation of our faith... and as we watch the shocking inhumanity of mankind towards others, and the unbelievable corruption that floods the corridors of governments, our hearts also grieve.. as we witness this painful period in our own problematic history. But like Jeremiah, we know in Whom we have believed and are persuaded that He is able to keep us and all that we have committed to Him. No matter what we may be called upon to suffer in this life. God is indeed faithful to His Word which cannot be broken. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, there are times when it seems that we are alone as we face life's difficulties, mourn over the spiritual decline that is overtaking the Church today, and grieve to see the shocking evil that is saturating the world. Thank You, Lord, that we are not alone, but are many of remnant of believers who put our HOPE in You and desire to do Your will. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and that You are building up Your church to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The full price of salvation was paid by Christ on Calvary's Cross and can never be gained in any other way, except as a free gift of grace. That salvation is accessed by Faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus, the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Mankind. No part of salvation can ever never be gained by our works, we can never be good enough to pay the price of sin. The amazing truth is that because of God's wonderful grace, sinners can be forgiven of their sins and saved from eternal death. This salvation is accessed by faith. We receive it when we believe. God gives us salvation when we trust in Jesus as our Savior. No one but Christ Jesus can ever take credit for our salvation. No one can justify themselves, sanctify themselves, or glorify themselves. Every aspect of salvation is a gracious gift from God and can only be accessed by faith in Christ as our Savior, not of works so that no one is able to boast. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Our United Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing us to a deeper understanding, that in ourselves there is no good things that are acceptable to You in our Christian lives. It is only by grace through faith in the work of the Son of God Who loved us and gave Himself for us, that makes us acceptable to You. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The word 'flesh' has many meanings and can refer to different things depending on the context... but in this verse the word 'flesh' is referring to the old sin nature - the fallen, fleshly, egocentric nature we inherited from Adam. In this passage 'flesh' refers to the old sinful self - 'the old man' as the Bible calls it. Works of the flesh are totally rejected by the Lord. Good deeds that are carried out by the old sin nature, however commendable they appear to be, are utterly rejected by God. The only way that we can return into fellowship with his Creator, is by becoming part of His new creation; where Christ is the federal Head of an entirely new race of humanity. The Christian life must not be focused on self, but on Christ. We are to live in the 'not I but Christ' realm. We are to die to our own sinful desires, lustful leanings, and self-elevating egocentricities. We are to keep the fleshly self, with all its pretense and self-deception, firmly nailed to the Cross and we are to Live Our Life For Christ Alone. As believers, we still retain our freewill, but in Christ we have received power over that old, fallen, sin nature as we die to self and live for Christ alone. If we permit the old sin nature to mount the throne of our life, we dishonor the Lord and will reap the bitter fruit of sinfulness, but if we keep the old man nailed to the Cross and live for Christ alone, we will reap the everlasting fruit of righteousness: For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are part of the new creation in Christ and have been freed from the ravages of sin, death, and hell, by faith in the shed blood of Christ on Calvary. Father, we want to live our lives in spirit and truth and keep the old sin nature out of commission and nailed to the Cross. Help us to honestly recognize any fleshly tendencies to which we may cling to and keep us, we pray, from sowing to our flesh. Rather, we ask that in the power of the Holy Spirit, that we may sow to the Spirit and live our lives in humble submission unto the Lord for His praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The book of Revelation gives great hope and encouragement to the believer. It not only tells how the Lord Jesus will right all wrongs and deal with the distressing evils of this world, but it also tells of the glorious Millennial Kingdom of Christ, and provides a tiny glimpse into the eternal ages to come, when all that was lost at the fall will have finally been restored to the Father through Jesus Christ, the God-Man. Tampering with Scripture to deliberately deceive and to present an alternative gospel, will result in the full-force of the accumulated bowls of God's rage and fury being meted out upon the heretic, which is truly a horrendous thing. It is not only the subject matter within the book of Revelation that must not be 'added-to' or 'taken-away from' but within the entire Scriptures, for the content of Revelation is intertwined in the many prophetic writings throughout the entire Word of God. There are an increasing number of people who delight to give extra-biblical 'revelation' from God, which is of serious concern, and there are many cults that have taken away The Basic Foundational Truths Of Our Christian Faith and superimposed a false gospel which is designed to deceive and destroy. May we take to heart these serious warnings and be sure that we do not give room to any false doctrine but stand firm on the unchangeable and unchanging truth of God's holy Word. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth of Your unchanging and unchangeable Word. May we all study to show ourselves approved unto God, and not be swayed by any wind of doctrine that covertly takes away or adds to Your Word of truth. Guide us into all truth, we pray, through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Enable us to share the truth in love and to challenge those that have deviated from Your Word for another gospel. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. We are told that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in the same way, pride is a germ that disseminates into all kinds of sin and strife. Pride can be displayed in many ways and is described by many words, such as arrogance, insolence, self-importance, and conceit. Pride is also displayed in boastings and bluster, condescension and contempt and superiority. As fallen men and women, we are disposed towards Prideful Self-Importance... and too often, arrogance and insolence are crouching at the door of our hearts. But God in His grace, reminds us that wisdom is the beautiful counterbalance to insolence and conceit which is so distasteful to the Lord. In this verse, we discover the importance of A Teachable Spirit. We read that, "wisdom is with those who receive counsel," and "wisdom is gained by those who take advice." The Bible is the Word of God which gives insight into God's heart and also instructs us on how to live godly lives in Christ Jesus. Let us take to heart all that the Lord is teaching us, as we read, mark, learn, inwardly digest, and apply God's Word in our lives. In doing so, we will not only be gaining wisdom from above but we will be honoring the Lord Who bought us, with His own blood. Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the words of wisdom that are found in Scripture. Keep us from prideful insolence and destructive strife and teach us to walk in your way, to receive wisdom, and to be willing to learn from godly counsel. Help us to take to heart all that is written in Your Word, and enable us, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to apply all that we learn in our everyday lives so that we may not only be good and faithful witnesses of Your love and grace, but be members of Your Body that honors Your holy name. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Being an 'elder' or an 'overseer' in the Church is an honorable position, and those discharging this duty have to be ones of integrity who demonstrate certain attributes, skills, gifts, and graces, together with a character in line with Paul's instructions in this letter to Timothy. Although there are many more qualities that Paul lists in later verses connected with a person's spiritual maturity, their reputation in the community, behavior at home, relationship with their family, and the ability to act with self-restraint whether alone or in company, this verse deals specifically with the important issues of a person's moral attitude, ethical behavior, and spiritual maturity. Although the characteristics of an overseer, which are clearly laid out in this verse, and the essential qualities Paul lists in this passage, are of the highest ethical, moral, and spiritual standard possible, they are, in reality, the qualities and characteristics towards which we should all strive. God is holy, and He is perfect, and as His children we are called to be both holy and perfect, not in our own strength, but by the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. May we each take to heart the need to be above reproach in our words and actions, faithful in all of our relationships and interactions with others and temperate, prudent, respectable, and hospitable, at home and in the wider community. May we all study to show ourselves approved unto God, be Willing To Share The Good News Of The Gospel of Christ with others, and be ready and able to give a biblical answer to anyone who asks us about the hope we have in Christ. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray for the elders and overseers in our churches and communities. May the characteristics and qualities that Paul lists in his letter to Timothy, be taken to heart by all who have positions of responsibility in our own churches and wider afield. We pray that You would establish godly men and women in eldership positions who are above reproach and pray that each one would be ready and willing to examine their hearts, to see if there are areas in their life that need to be addressed. We pray that in our own lives, we may strive to attain to the many qualities that You expect from all Your children. Thank You that in Christ we have all we need for life and godliness, and we pray that from this day forward, we take to heart the need to be above reproach, in word, in deed, and in our relationships with others. We pray that we may become approved unto God, be willing to share the good news of the gospel of Christ with others, and be ready to give a biblical answers to everyone for the hope we have in Christ Jesus. This we ask in His precious name, AMEN. In this verse, we hear an echo of John's prophetic words: "This is the sacrificial lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world." In this passage, we catch a glimpse of the approaching Cross, where the good Shepherd will lay down His life for the sheep, and not only for the lost sheep of the house of Israel but also for His other sheep which are outside the fold. Our Good Shepherd is not only the One Who guards and guides, feeds and protects us, but He is also the sacrificial offering Who laid down His life for the sheep. Ever since the exodus from Egypt, innocent lambs were sacrificed to make atonement for the sins of mankind. Mankind's sins however, were only covered until the promised Messiah would arrive on the scene. Prophets, priests, and kings foretold of the coming Good Shepherd of Israel Who would also become the sacrificial offering for the sins of the whole world. In the past, it was an innocent little lamb who died as a temporary covering for human's guilty sins, but here we read that it is the innocent Shepherd (God incarnate) Who lay down His sinless life for all lost and guilty sinners who will trust in the name of the only begotten Son of God. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Good Shepherd and that He knows those that are the sheep of His pasture. Thank You that in Your grace, Jesus came to lay down His life for us. We pray that we may live our lives to His praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Today huge numbers of alternative dogmas and ideologies, are being offered in place of sound biblical teaching.. Today there are also an increasing number of self-appointed prophets and apostles who dish out their own brand of extra-biblical revelation in preference to standing on the plain teaching of Scripture and there are an increasing number of diverse cults, creeds and false teachers that distort the character of God, dethrone the Person Christ and dismiss His Work on the cross as irrelevant or unimportant. We Are To Be Nourished On The Word Of God. We are to practice biblical precepts and scriptural principles if we are to become spiritually disciplined mature believers, who have their senses trained to discern good and evil. To do so means that we are to die to self and look to Christ alone.. It requires that God's Word dwells in us richly, day by day and that we are quick to avoid all evil and do that which is good. We are to walk in spirit and truth, abide in Christ and He in us so that in the power of the Holy Spirit we may bring forth much spiritual fruit to the glory of God. As maturing Christians we should desire an increasingly intimate relationship with our Lord and set our hearts on things above and not on the things of this earth. We are to remember that we are in Christ, we died to our old sinful past, and our life is now hidden with Christ in God. We are to rejoice that Christ, is our life. We are to pray without ceasing and in everything give thanks. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray that we may grow in grace and become spiritually mature. We pray that as we submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives we may become increasingly like the Lord Jesus and that as we live and work to Your praise and glory.. May we have our senses trained to discern what is good and what is evil so that we may discern those teachings and teachers that distort the word of truth and stand fast on the unchanging and unchangeable Word of God, in Jesus name we Pray, AMEN. We are all called by God to be holy and set apart unto Him but we are also called into fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters in Christ. We are urged to be of the same mind and the same judgment. The divisions and disunity that was evident within the Corinthian church so long ago, is equally conspicuous in the Body of Christ today, and Paul lovingly exhorts each one of us to agree amongst ourselves so that there is no disharmony, disagreement, or dissention amongst us. This call for singleness of heart is founded upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and not our preferred preacher or favored ministry. We are to develop the same attitude of heart toward each other that Christ Jesus has for us so that with one mind and one voice we may glorify our God in heaven, and our Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord. In a time when there are ever deepening divisions in the world, how important it is to love our brothers and sisters. Let us be those who Build Each Other Up In Love, encouraging and comforting each other as we see the day approaching. May our love for each other flow out into the world so that unbelievers may see our love, be drawn to Jesus, and enter into a saving knowledge of our loving Savior. I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive the times when we have allowed foolish pride or a careless attitude to cause disunity to fester within our hearts towards our brothers and sisters in Christ. May we be of one heart and mind with others, knowing that we are all one in Christ Jesus our Lord, in Whose name we pray, AMEN. Unity in the Body of Christ can be threatened and destroyed from within. False doctrine and distorted scriptural truths can invade the Church, and trivial dissensions and petty disputes can also be a destructive element that causes disunity. Christ earnestly prayed for unity before He died: "That They May Be One..." The Lord Jesus, calls on us all to be like-minded, having unity in the spirit and the love of Christ in our hearts, being of one accord, encouraging others and demonstrating tender-compassion in humility of heart towards one another. But mercy, truth, and unity, only comes when we have the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Spirit flowing through our inner beings, it is only as we are yielded to the Holy Spirit that we will prosper. Let us be diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, with all our brothers and sisters. May the patience, humility, gentleness, and love we show to each other be known to all, as together we walk to have what our God wants for Us, One Nation Under God. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we Pray that we may show forth the grace of Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, in our thoughts, words, and deeds. May we keep the unity of the Spirit with all our brothers and sisters in our Nation and around the world so that we may honor Your name through our earthly witnessing. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
