We live in times that are becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet, and the temptation is to look at those around at those who appear to be so bountifully endowed with the riches of this world and yearn for a little of what they have. It seems so unfair, it seems so unjust that those who seek after the wealth of this world appear to have a purse filled with coins, with little to concern with their godless lives, whereas we have such a meagre portion and can scarce breathe for worry about provision for tomorrow, which enlarges into fear of the future. Yet, as God's blood-bought children, we are told: Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. When we look to the wealth of this world, we will be left empty. When we look to 'self' to supply our needs, we are living in carnal unbelief. But When We Live By Faith, we are trusting Him in all things even when times are increasingly difficult and our supply seems to have dried up. When we trust in the Lord with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding, and when we acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will lead us in the best path even though it may not be in the direction we expect! Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we don’t want to look to the evaporating riches of this world, knowing that our treasure is kept for us in heaven. Please, Father, provide for our needs today and help us not to worry about tomorrow but simply to trust in Your Word, for You have promised to supply all our needs according to Your riches and glory. Thank You, Father, in Jesus' name, we Pray AMEN. Christ uses the parable of the widow woman and the unjust judge to encourage us to be continually in prayer, to pray without ceasing, and to remain in constant communion with the Lord as we petition Him for the blessings we need from His gracious hand, especially when those blessings seem to be delayed. This is not a teaching that describes a God as a worldly judge Who is reluctant to bestow His blessings, but rather a generous Father Who gives good gifts to all His children. Nor are we likened to some lonely, poverty-stricken, unsupported widow, we are children of God, beloved of the Father, accepted in the Beloved, and inheritors of the kingdom of heaven. We are to be continually in prayer, to pray without ceasing, and to remain in constant communion with the Lord, knowing that God Answers Our Prayers. We are assured that any perceived delay is His wise preparations. His delay is not inactivity or disinterest, but a preparation to make all things work together for the good, to those that love God and are called according to His purpose. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to maintain a trusting attitude of prayer, knowing that any perceived delay is Your willing preparation. Thank You that You are holy and righteous and will avenge Your elect and make all things right in Your own perfect timing. Thank You that You are our Father, and we are Your children. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. In our Christian lives, we are commanded to be honest, to be respectful to others, to conduct ourselves with integrity, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, love is the fulfilment of God's perfect Law. Although we are in the world and need to abide by the regulations of the established authorities and appointed governments (which we are reminded, were instituted by God Himself), we are also to remember that our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we eagerly wait for our coming Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are part of the spiritual Body of Christ and as such, we are in a spiritual battle and the only way to survive is to be Clothed In The Spiritual Armor Of God. We are to be covered in His truth, covered in His righteousness, and rest in His peace and His salvation which is ours by grace alone through faith alone in His finished work alone. It is only as we dress ourselves in Christ and cover ourselves spiritually in the Lord, day by day and moment by moment, that we will we be enabled to make no provision for the evil cravings of our physical nature, only as we are clothed in Christ can the power of sin and death be defeated in the life of a Christian. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are in Christ through faith in his finished work at Calvary. We recognize that we are in spiritual battles and we can only be victorious as we abide in Christ and He in us. Keep us from trying to live our lives in our own strength, but we pray that we may put on the Lord Jesus in spirit and truth. To His praise and glory, AMEN. This psalm explodes into a song of thanksgiving to God, because His mercy and love endures forever. But it is a psalm which, verse by verse, continues to build up to a crescendo of grateful thanks as it lists the many things that God has done for His people and the many ways that He has responded to their cry for help. This psalm targets in on the truth of God's Steadfast Love. This is not only a psalm of the past, it is a hymn of praise for the present, it is a song of thanksgiving that the Church age can chorus with equal gusto and grateful hearts. Not only does this psalm explode into a song of thanksgiving, but concludes with the pronouncement that all who are wise will see that God's steadfast love, faithful love, yesterday, today, and forever. It was Paul who encouraged us to give thanks in everything. So let our hearts and voices explode into a great hymn of praise and thanksgiving to the LORD, He is good and His steadfast love endures forever, His faithfulness extends throughout time and into the far reaches of eternity. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we thank You and praise Your name, You are a good and faithful God and Your steadfast love endures forever. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Christ was the final revelation to mankind, and the Scriptures contain all that we need for life and godliness in our current generation. Though apostolic authority ceased with the last apostle, all God's children are gifted by the Holy Spirit as He sees fit, and we are all called to: "Kindle Afresh The Gift Of God that is in us." It is the Holy Spirit that sealed us and baptized us into the Body of Christ at salvation, and it is the Holy Spirit that enables and empowers us to serve the Lord as we grow in our spiritual life. It is the Holy Spirit that gives to each of God's children the spiritual gift or gifts that each requires to fulfil the role to which we have been called. It is the Holy Spirit Who works in us all: "To will and to do of HIS good pleasure." Let us kindle afresh the gift of God which by His grace we have received and let us do it in LOVE! If we function in the gifts of the Spirit without LOVE it profits us nothing, and dishonors our Lord. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, in the power of Your Holy Spirit, we pray that we may fan into flame the spiritual gift that You have given us, by Your grace. May all we say and do be done in love so that Christ may be formed in us. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The person and work of Jesus was testified by God the Father and was validated by the prophesied Messianic signs, wonders, and miracles that He Himself carried out in His life and ministry and which continued into those early years of the Church. In God's grace, this testimony is also displayed in our own lives by the gifts of the Holy Spirit He gives to each one according to His own perfect will and wisdom. The Promises Of God Are Steadfast And Sure. They stand secure on the unchangeable and trustworthy character of God. For this reason, we are exhorted to pay close attention to what we have heard so that we do not drift away from the truth of the gospel, nor are swept along by every wind of doctrine. The Bible also warns us to give heed to the Word of God and outlines the consequences of giving insufficient attention to the witness of Scripture. Yet, we live in a world that has outlawed God's Word and poured scorn on His holy character. Let us not be influenced by the secular mind-set of the world, but trust the testimony of God Himself. Let us ALL hold fast to the unchanging and unchangeable character of God Who loved the world so much that He gave His life so that we might live. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the many evidences in the Word of God and in our own personal lives, of Your unchanging character. Thank you for the unchangeable truth in Scripture and the many signs that authenticate Christ's Person and work. May we live to Your praise and glory and tell forth the truth of the glorious gospel of grace to all we come in contact with. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. How important to recognize that there is a huge chasm between knowing facts about the truth as a historical fact, or as some detailed information, and actually knowing the truth about the unique Person and saving Work of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is a vast difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing the Person of Jesus. Having a personal relationship with Him, as outlined in the Scriptures. Every man and woman is born dead in sin. Everyone lives in bondage to sin. Everyone is a slave of sin and is entrapped by sin. Every man and woman is estranged from God and shackled by the heavy weight of sin. But there is one way, and only one way to be set free from slavery to sin, Satan, death, and the curse of the law and that is To KNOW Christ Personally. Not simply to know historical facts about Him, but to know Him as one's own personal Savior Who willingly died in our place to pay the price for our sins. When we are set free from slavery to sin, Satan, death, and the curse of the law by the redeeming blood of God's only begotten Son. We know the Son as Savior and the SON, WHO loves us and gave Himself for us, sets us free forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You for sending Your Son to be our Savior and for setting us free from slavery to sin. Thank You that in Christ we are set free from the curse of the Law, and thank You that the punishment that we deserve for our sins was paid for us by the Lord Jesus Christ, so that by faith in Him we are truly set free. May we live our lives to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. None of us want to suffer. Often we actively resist suffering, and sometimes we view it as correction or punishment from God, especially if it is a fellow believer who is suffering! Believers are not only called to trust in the Lord Jesus for salvation but also to be ready to suffer for His name's sake. As we go through life, we are even called to rejoice in our adversities, knowing that adversity and suffering works endurance and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. ALL who live godly lives WILL suffer persecution for the sake of the gospel. Nevertheless, we are not to feel threatened or intimidated by those that hate us. We are not to fear our adversaries or be troubled if they mock our faith or be fearful by their threats and animosity. We should not shrink back from suffering for righteousness' sake, but regard it as a privilege and honor to be worthy to suffer for Him Who died for us and rose again to save our souls. Suffering For The Sake Of Righteousness is a blessing that brings with it great reward and immense joy. But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we know that in this world we will have tribulation and troubles as children of God. We pray that we would not be fearful but trust in You. We pray that these words of Jesus would sink deep into our hearts in whatever situation we find ourselves in: "In the world we will have tribulation but take courage; we have overcome the world." In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Christians live under grace and not under law. We are not bound by food laws nor by a dress code. But neither should we criticize those who choose to follow their consciences in certain matters. We are not required to worship on a specific day nor are we commanded to keep certain feast days, special festivals, or the many ordinances imposed by man; as believers in the age of grace we are free from the bondage of law. As Christians, we need to remember that everything is permissible, but not everything is helpful. Believers are not under law and the things that we do should build up our brothers and sisters in Christ and not be a direct or an indirect criticism of their behaviors. So, we are instructed not to let what we personally regard as good, to be spoken of as evil. We are to be careful that our freedom in this age of grace does not cause a brother or sister in Christ to be upset or offended. Let us therefore in love and grace Be Sensitive To The Needs Of Others, neither compromising the gospel of Christ nor causing our liberty in Christ to be a stumbling block to other brothers and sisters in Christ Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, keep us from trying to maintain church unity at the expense of the truth of the gospel of grace. But also, please keep us from allowing the beautiful freedoms we have, by grace through faith in Christ, to become critical of others whose consciences lead them in a different directions. Help us, therefore, to make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification, for we desire to glorify Your name in all we say and do. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. God is the power behind every one of His promises, and God is the truth behind all of His Word. God is the omniscience behind all of His counsel, and He is the supernatural mind behind all of His plans. No promise from God will ever fail to reach its fulfilment. Every directive that proceeds from the mind of the Almighty must arrive at its ultimate completion, for NOTHING is impossible with respect to any of God's promises. This truth is fully consistent with the perfect nature of God's character and totally compatible with His eternal perfection. If God has promised it, nothing will stand in the way of its final fulfilment. It is unbelief that questions the Word of God and doubt that casts a shadow over the validity of God's promises, they are all yes and Amen in Christ. Let us believe that Nothing Is Impossible with respect to each and every one of God's precious promises to us and demonstrate the same, trusting faith, that nothing is impossible to God, even when we don't understand. For with God nothing shall be impossible. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your Word and the many promises that fill its pages. Thank You that nothing is impossible with respect to any of Your precious promises, not only to me individually, but to all people. Forgive us for the times we have doubted Your Word, and help us to stand firm in all that You have promised. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. It was by divine design that this Psalm so beautifully describes the Lord God as Our Great And Caring Shepherd. Although it is often used as a great comfort at a time of death or bereavement, it is equally a Psalm that points to the Lord Jesus Christ as our sustenance and support in every season of our lives. The Lord is our Provider and Peace; our Strength and Stay; our Righteousness and our Reward; our Sanctuary and our Shepherd. Looking at the relationship of a human shepherd and his flock is a wonderful reminder of our relationship with Jesus. The sheep recognize the voice of their shepherd, follow him, trust him, and depend on him for food and protection. The relationship between a shepherd and his flock is very close, both on an individual level and for the flock in general. Shepherds put themselves in dangerous situations to protect and care for their flock. What a beautiful picture of our precious Shepherd and we as His sheep. It was by design that the Lord Jesus is so beautifully represented as a tender shepherd; the Good Shepherd Who gave His life for His sheep; the Great Shepherd Who loves His own with a deep compassion; the Chief Shepherd that rescues His scattered straying sheep and gives them life, eternal life, abundant life. Truly we can say in confidence: The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Lord, that You are our Shepherd. You are all that we need, and we love You. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. We have been lifted up out of a world of deep darkness into The Light Of The Gospel Of God's Grace. Our walk through this life as the children of God, is to become a day-by-day lifestyle that is pleasing and honoring to the Lord. Our life-walk should be a reflection of His goodness and grace, His righteousness and integrity, His kindness and gentleness, His truth and His sincerity. Our Christian life should reflect His humility and patient endurance and our life should blossom into godly fruitfulness, reflecting the love of God in the face of Christ Jesus our Lord. There is a world of difference between the unsaved life and the life that we have in Christ. Before salvation, we were children of the night and a product of the darkness of sin. The unsaved soul is trapped in the dungeon of sin, but by faith we can cast off the works of darkness and be clothed in His armor of light. God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. In the beginning, He commanded the light to shine out of darkness and in the fullness of time He sent His only Son to be the Light of the world, to give light to everyone coming into the world. He has shown the light of His love and truth into our hearts. He has given all who are born from above the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in Jesus Christ our Lord. May we walk as children of light and shine the light of the love of God's goodness and grace into the lives of all we meet, knowing that we who were once lost in darkness, and estranged from the light of God's eternal love because of the inner darkness of our fallen nature, have, by His grace been made light in the Lord. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light Our United Prayer:
Dear Lord, how we long to reflect the light of Your love as we journey through this dark world. Thank You for bringing us into the wonderful light of Your saving grace. Please help us to walk in spirit and truth so that we may be used as channels through whom Your love, grace, healing, and forgiveness may flow to others. In the name of Jesus we Pray, AMEN. The Sanctification Of A Sinner saved by grace is both a specific act of the Holy Spirit that takes place at a moment in time, but it is also an ongoing process that is undertaken by the Holy Spirit in the heart of a believer. Positional sanctification takes place at the moment of salvation. At that moment, we are justified in the sight of God and covered in Christ's righteousness. Progressive sanctification is a lifelong process for the believer, as we continue to grow in grace, mature in the faith. Positional sanctification happened in the past (the moment we were saved) and progressive sanctification continues in the present, but our full, final, and perfected sanctification will only be completed in the future, when we go to be with the Lord. It is not until we all reach unity in the faith, in the knowledge of the Son of God, (either through our physical death or the Rapture of the Church) that we will finally attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ, and our sanctification will, at last, be complete. Every believer is also going through a process of practical sanctification, it is also a maturing in the faith as, day by day, we are being progressively conformed into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that we are chosen, set apart, and sanctified unto you because we are part of the Body of Christ. Thank You that we are being progressively sanctified as we live our lives in submission to the Spirit and for Your glory. We pray that each day we may become more and more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, until that glorious day when we shall behold Him as He is and be fully and finally set apart unto You – for Your praise and glory. This we Pray in Jesus' name, AMEN. All believers are children of God, but there is a vital difference between being saved as a son or daughter and following the Lord as His disciple. We are saved from our sins because we trusted Jesus as Savior Who died on the Cross. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ. But to become a true disciple, we must take up our own cross daily, and follow the Lord Jesus. We are to be Walking In The Way Of The Cross. To be a disciple, it must not only be hearing the Word and being a listener, but it is also doing the Word and applying it. It is not only knowing that Christ has identified with our sins, but that we are to identify with Christ (discipleship). We are to identify with His surrender, His sacrifice, and His suffering. We are to be like Christ in His humanity and to deny ourselves if we are to be His disciples, but to do so we are to surrender our lives to the Spirit, to give ourselves as a willing and living sacrifice to the Father, and then to say as did Christ, "Thy will not mine be done." Self, the self-life, and all that is connected with the old sin nature must remain securely nailed to the Cross. Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, more and more we want to surrender our lives to You, to take up our cross daily as a willing sacrifice and to cry out, "Thy will not mine be done." We pray that our old selves-lives will remain firmly nailed to the Cross. May we submit to Your leading and guiding in all we say and do. In Christ's name we Pray, AMEN. "The LORD is my strength and my shield," is his exultant exclamation. His grace and strength is sufficient, He is the all-powerful God. What is man that we should be fearful of him when we have the almighty strength of the eternal God as our shield and buckler? He is our God, and those who reverently fear Him have no need to be anxious or fearful. "My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped," God has promised to be with us in every situation of life, and all He wants from us is to trust His Word, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and hold fast to His many precious promises. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, but those who put their trust in Him will never be disappointed. We should remember that when faced with tremendous difficulties and dangers, we are helpless to help ourselves. In all situations, we ought not to trust in ourselves, but in Christ. "Therefore, my heart exults," "and with my song I shall thank Him." There is something very edifying and encouraging in glorifying God and singing praises to Him, even when faced with problems and pain, it not only lifts our heart and gives hope to the soul, but causes us to trust Him in our helplessness and gives great glory to our Father in heaven. May our hearts truly Rejoice In The God Of Our Salvation and lift up our voices together in continuous thanksgiving and praise. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, what comfort and joy all Your children gain from Your precious Word. We thank You that You are our strength and our shield. Our hearts trust in You, and we praise and thank You for the help and comfort we receive through faith in Christ Jesus our Savior. Thank You that Your ear is ever open to the cries of Your people. Help us take every thought captive to Christ when circumstances arise that would otherwise overwhelm us and cause us to fear. The joy of the Lord is our strength, therefore our hearts exult in grateful thanks and eternal praise. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
