What a beautiful truth it is... to know that God Is Love and that the love that we are called to manifest in our lives, has its source in the divine love of God. How amazing to realize the outpouring of His unique love flows through us to others because we are his his children. However, to reverse the sentence from 'God is Love' to say that 'Love is God' as some have chosen to do, is emphatically wrong. It is unbiblical, totally untrue, and denies the plain truth of God's Word which clearly states that GOD IS LOVE but never that love is God! Love may be one aspect of God's character and attributes - but to say that love is synchronous with God is false. It is an unbiblical interpretation and should be vehemently opposed. Human affection, sexual love, emotional love, and cultural love which emanates from the natural realm, must never be confused with divinely imputed love which has its singular source in God and is exclusively given from God to those that are His children. Love must be defined by its context, and when we are talking of divine love It is a love that cannot be produced by mankind, nor whipped up by human emotions. God's love flows to us exclusively from Him and then it flows through us to others. God is the source of all love, and herein is love: "Not that we loved Him but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." And we who have become part of His family by faith, are obligated to love as Christ loved us and to give our lives in sacrificial service for the benefit of others and to the glory of God. 1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You loved the world so much that You gave Your unique and incomparable Son as the substitute for our sins and for the sins of the world. We pray that we may walk in spirit and truth and show forth Your love in our lives for the benefit of others. We pray that we may decrease and that You may increase in every area of our lives, until we become a transparent conduit through whom Your divine love flows to others, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

As believers, we are not only given the new resurrected life of Christ at rebirth, which must learn to abide in Christ, depend on Him, grow in grace, and mature in the faith, but we also have been given the permanent Holy Spirit of God to help us in our weaknesses. He has been given as a gift of God to guide us into all truth through the written Word of God. He is given to all believers as a pledge of our relationship to the Father, and as a guarantee of our position in Christ and a down-payment of the blessed hope we have in Him. The One Who Keeps Gods Commands and does not rely on the self-life, is able to rest in the love of Christ and He in him. The one who walks in spirit and truth is the one that knows that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit Who was given to us by the Father as our Helper and Comforter, our Advocate and Teacher, and He it is Who bears witness with our human spirit that we are children of God and joint-heirs with Christ. 1 John 3:24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit. We pray that in His strength, we may learn to abide in You, day by day. We pray that we may grow in grace and in knowledge of the Lord Jesus so that the life of Christ may be manifested in us and His love would flow through us and out to others. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Many believers like to focus on the love of Jesus because they think that this will cause unbelievers to get saved but they prefer to allow Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection to be side-lined in a blurry background, in case it offends or puts the unbeliever off the Christian faith! It was LOVE that caused the almighty God to send His only begotten Son into the world to become the sin-sacrifice for the entire race of humanity and it was LOVE that caused the Lord Jesus Christ to lay down His life for us. It was LOVE t hat caused the Lord Jesus to be crucified on a cruel cross willingly, so that all who believe on Him might not perish but have everlasting life. When we look at the Cross of Christ and the blood that He shed for us at Calvary, we see incarnate LOVE, and we know What Real Godly Love Is by this: that Christ Jesus laid down His life for us. Ought not we for His sake, lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters? 1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we stand dumbfounded to realize the depth of Your love for us and remain stunned at the amazing love of Christ for us, that Christ laid aside His heavenly glory and was made sin so that by grace through faith in Him we might have life. We pray that His love might flow through us so that we too may be willing to lay down our lives for others. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. As Christians, we should not be surprised when we are hated by those in this satanic world system who are under the evil influence of Satan and his minions. In His Sermon on the Mount, the Lord Jesus gave many examples of the world's reaction to those that are enslaved by evil, because the thoughts of their hearts are only evil continuously. Those that recognize their sinfulness, mourn over their lack of virtue, hunger after righteousness, and seek to demonstrate mercy to others, are those who are rejecting the ungodly philosophies of the world and will discover that they are hated because they are in Christ and swimming against the tide of ungodliness by challenging the status quo. Those who hate and reject us are doing so because they have rejected God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Their whole philosophy of life is in rebellion against God, for, like Cain, they have freely chosen to reject the Word of Truth and to remain under Satan's authority and enslaved by their old, fallen sinful nature which can never please the Lord. Just as they hated Christ they will also hate us. Therefore, none of us should be surprised if the world hates us. But their hatred of us can be translated into prayers of intercession for them that God, in His grace, would meet them at their point of need and convict them of the need of a Savior and the salvation that He offers freely and without charge. It is not God's will that any should perish but that all should come to a knowledge of the truth. So let us not be surprised if the world hates us, but let us pray for those who are lost in their sin and at enmity with God and pray that they open their hearts to Jesus and acknowledge Him as their Savior and Lord. 1 John 3:13 Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we walk through this life towards our heavenly home, we pray that we would be worthy ambassadors for Christ, reflecting His love and truth to all we meet. Help us not to be surprised when we receive hatred from the world, knowing that the world hated Christ first, but may we rest in Your love, walk in the truth of Your Word, and finish the work You have for us on the earth before You call us home. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. One of the characteristics of the early Church is their love for one other and the fellowship that believers enjoyed together. Early writings about the Christian Church are reported to have said: "See how these Christians love one another." In John's first epistle to the saints of God, one of his main discussion points is about maintaining fellowship with the Lord and how to encourage Christian communion with one another. Maintaining communion and unity of the spirit seems to be a beacon of light that illuminates the pages of this letter, lighting up our path through the ever-deepening deceptions of this last hour in which we live and helping each one of us to discern what is of the Lord and that which comes from the evil one. It is this new life in Christ that identifies us as children of God. By this, the contrast between The Children Of God and the children of the devil is very evident. Anyone who does not practice righteousness or love his brother is not of God, nor does he know God. May we who have been born from above, mature in the faith, walk in spirit and truth, grow in grace, and abide in Christ Jesus our Lord day by day so that His life and love, goodness and grace, may pour into our hearts from Him, and stream out in love to others. 1 John 3:10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are children of God and that the life of the risen Lord Jesus is dwelling in us. Help us to live and work to Your praise and glory. May we cast off the works of darkness and be clothed in the armor of light, so that others may see Christ working in and through us, to His praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. God's love for us is astonishing in that: "While we were yet sinners Christ died for us." The whole glorious plan of salvation, which was purposed before the foundation of the world, is a testimony to the grace of our Heavenly Father and His amazing love for each one of us. Before all this could transpire, God had to prepare a body for His Son so that the eternal Son of God could be born into the human race (at the appointed time) as the perfect Son of Man in order that He could give His life as a ransom for many, including you and me. How very much our Father loves us who are now His children, but sadly the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know Him. But praise God that our hope in Christ and everyone who has this hope fixed on Jesus, purifies themselves, just as Christ is pure. When we consider the glorious hope and eternal benefits that we have received freely, by grace through faith in Christ, how important it is that we choose to live our lives in spirit and in truth as unto the Lord. How important that we are not enticed by the lawless ways of the world, which is at enmity with our Father, but that we live in humble obedience and reverence of heart before Him, all the days of our life. 1 John 3:5 But you know that he appeared so that he might Take Away Our Sins. And in him is no sin. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the Lord Jesus at the appointed time to come to earth as the sinless Son of Man in order to take away our sins. You could have left us eternally separated from Yourself and dead in our trespasses and sins but in Your grace, Christ came to earth, dying in our place and giving us His own resurrected life. Your love is beyond our understanding, but we praise and thank You with all the breath that is in us. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The Scriptures are a treasure-trove that some people do not want to recognize as authoritative, nor do they want to adhere to its instructions... and so it is regarded as an outdated storybook which is ridiculed and rejected by the majority, rather than being treated with reverence and respect. The Bible does not white-wash sin, but identifies it as a ruinous evil which impacts the lives of every human being, that it is held in such contempt by so many people. But we who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ, should recognize God's Word as the most precious tool in our Christian arsenal which provides all we need for life and godliness. However, the opposite is true of those that reject the Lord Jesus and spurn His goodness. They are not pure in God's sight but are identified as lawless, disorderly, and ungovernable people. They are identified throughout the Word of God as rebellious, disruptive, mutinous, and seditious, and John makes it very clear in this verse: "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and Sin Is Lawlessness." There are those that are under God's righteous condemnation and those who are not under condemnation. Praise God that there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus, their sins are remembered no more and they are accepted in the Beloved and covered in His perfect righteousness, by faith. 1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we acknowledge You as the God of the universe and Lord of our lives. We thank You that in Your grace, You sent the Lord Jesus to pay the price for our sins and declared us righteous in Your sight, by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection. There are many, Lord, who are still walking in rebellion against You and are cloaked in sin and lawlessness. we pray that they would open their eyes to the truth in the precious Word of God and be saved by grace through faith in Christ, for which we give You thanks and praise. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. What incredible love God has shown to us that we should be called His children. Being born of the Spirit through faith in Christ and cleansed of our sins through His shed blood, demonstrates the incredible love and generous grace that the Father has lavished upon us, His children. God loved us so dearly that He not only sent Jesus to be our Savior but He purposed to transform all who trust in Him into His image and likeness so that when we see Him, face to face, we will be like Him. What a glorious hope! Everyone who has this hope fixed on Christ purifies themselves, just as the Lord Jesus is pure. He Is The HOPE Of Our Calling! He has clothed us in His own righteousness and secured for us a heavenly inheritance! What amazing love has been bestowed on us that we should be called the children of God, and what an amazing hope we have in Christ: "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has the human heart imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him." Let us hold firmly to this sure hope that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, knowing that those of us who have fixed our hope upon Him, purify ourselves just as Jesus is pure. 1 John 3:3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for saving us by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. Thank You that we have the blessed and sure hope of heaven in our future. We pray that in our lives we would purify ourselves as we abide in Christ and become more like Him, day by day. Father, there are many in the world that do not know You and have not trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Use us to be channels of blessings to show Your love to a world that is dead in trespasses and sins. This we pray in Jesus' name, AMEN. John is not addressing unbelievers in this letter, he is talking to fellow Christians. He is exhorting brothers and sisters in Christ to stand fast in the spiritual journey and abide in Christ. We are not to be influenced by the allurements of this world's system, nor misled by the many deceptions that play havoc with our Christian growth. To abide in Christ is to rest in Him. It is to continue trusting His Word and to hold fast to the truth of the gospel of grace. John's entreaty was for fellow believers to keep a short rein on sin and to remain in fellowship with the Father for a reason: And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears We May Be Confident And Unashamed before him at his coming. John suggests in this verse, we should seek to abide in Him and live for Him, day by day, so that we may have confidence when we meet Him at the Bema seat judgement and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. May we seek to be those that abide in Christ and live every moment of our earthly pilgrimage for His glory. May we seek to live godly lives and to walk in spirit and truth - and may we seek to carry out the good work that God had prepared for each one of us to do. 1 John 2:28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we are excited for the return of Jesus for His Bride. We are looking forward to that day when He comes in the clouds for us to be with Him forever. We pray that when He comes, we will be found abiding in Him. We pray that we will be walking in spirit and truth and living lives that honors His holy name. Then, when we stand before His Judgement Seat, we will not be ashamed but will hear Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant, receive your reward." In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There are two insidious dangers to Christian fellowship and the growth of believers: 1) the infusion of the world into the Church and 2) the false teachers that deliver a false gospel. Both the world and false teachers can have a devastating effect on a believer's spiritual growth, but knowing biblical truth and being able to discern what is false is key to standing firm in this evil day. Having received the anointing of God, the Holy Spirit, and the abiding life of Christ Jesus our Lord, every believer has an assurance that those who walk in spirit and truth will be guided into all truth. Christ Himself taught His disciples, only hours before His crucifixion, that the Advocate (the Holy Spirit) would be sent by the Father at His request. The Holy Spirit would teach believers all things and bring to our remembrance all that we have learned. What a thrill to realize that once we are saved, we have the promise of the permanent Holy Spirit abiding in us and He will never be taken from us. What a privilege to realize that when we are born from above and anointed by the Spirit of truth, He will teach us what we need to know, as we abide in Him, rest in His love, and trust His Word, in every area of our lives. 1 John 2:27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For The Spirit Teaches You Everything You Need To Know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for our salvation and the Holy Spirit. Thank You for the written Scriptures and the privilege of being in union with Christ, as part of His Body. We pray that we may be guided into all truth and given the wisdom and discernment to avoid what is evil and grow in understanding of the truth of the gospel, as we abide in Christ and He in us. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. John wrote his epistles to remind us of the importance of personally knowing the Lord and maturing in the faith. He took time to reiterate the principles of Christian fellowship and to encourage each one of us to practice godly love. He counselled us to avoid the world's enticements and warned us of increasing deceptions. He exhorted us to develop a Christlike character and expounded the value of a victorious and obedient life. John makes this staggering statement in the middle of a passage that warns believers of coming deceptions in the last hour, together with the rise of many antichrists throughout the Church Age, and the climatic events of the coming Antichrist which will take place at the end of the age. Throughout the history of the Church, there have been many false teachers, legalists, apostates, heretics, and antichrists who deny that Jesus is the Son of the living God and co-equal with the Father, and John makes it very clear that those who deny the Son, deny the Father also. Denial of Christ equates to the denial of the Father. To honor One without honoring the Other is a biblical impossibility, and anyone who claims to know or reverence the Father without giving co-equal glory and respect to the Son, can only be branded a deceiver and a liar whose testimony is false. May we take this warning to heart, reject any teaching or teacher who does not hold to the Word of Scripture, and may we confess in our heart that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, knowing: 1 John 2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; Whoever Acknowledges The Son Has The Father also. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the great truths that are contained in the epistles of John. Thank You that the Bible is very clear that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the living God and that by faith in Him alone we have forgiveness of sin and life eternal. May we hold fast to this truth all the days of our lives and honor You, by confessing Jesus as God of gods and Lord of lords. Keep us, we pray, from being swayed by false teachings or deceived into denying the truth and help us to live and work to Your greater praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. What blessings are given to those who believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God. What joy is ours when we are born-again of the Spirit. We are regenerated. We are brought back into a relationship with God and declared righteous in His sight. The Holy Spirit, Who comes to reside within the body of all believers, empowers us from above with divine energy. Spiritual regeneration, the baptism of the Spirit, His sealing of believers, and the Holy Spirit's ministry in the Body of Christ, takes place only once in the life of a believer; at his or her salvation. However, there are many other wonderful offices the Spirit undertakes in the life of a Christian that are ongoing throughout our time on earth, and are often called His 'experiential' inner workings. The Spirit's 'experiential' work is where He comforts and convicts, He intercedes and teaches, He fills us, bestows on us spiritual gifts, and He Guards And Guides Us Into All Truth. We all have the Holy Spirit. We are positioned in Christ, by faith in Him. What a privilege to have the Holy One of God, Who comforts and corrects, teaches and encourages, guides us into all truth, and carries out all the experiential ministries of the Holy Spirit, in the lives of all believers, during this Church age. 1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You for the anointing of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the lives of all believers. Thank You that we are born-again of the Spirit and washed in the blood of the Lamb. Help us to walk in newness of life and to live according to Your mercy and Word. May we live by the leading of the Holy Spirit and in His Power. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. This final chapter talks of the certainty of Christ's soon return. John proclaims the importance of the revelation of Jesus Christ within this book and makes proclamations about coming judgement, future rewards, God's offer of salvation, and the promise of forthcoming blessings for all who will COME. He also gives a serious warning to those that do not believe in the only begotten Son of God. Here in verse 17, we have a most beautiful invitation to all people, from the Holy Spirit of God and the Church, which is the Bride of Christ. We read that the Spirit and the Bride invites everyone to 'Come': "COME" they encourage those that are overwhelmed with fatigue and thirst. "Come" is the call to those that are dead in their sins. "Come, and drink of the water of life," is the beautiful invitation. "Drink, and do so freely." As the Bride of Christ who is awaiting His soon return, let us join our prayer and praise with the Spirit of God and say, "'Come'. And let the one who hears say, 'Come.' And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires, Take The Free Gift Of The Water Of Life." Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Living Water in Whom are the words of eternal life and Who satisfies the thirsty. Thank You that we are part of His Bride. We long for that day when Christ returns to take us to be with Himself into heaven. We pray that the many souls who are lost in sin and facing a lost eternity without God and without hope, would come and drink of the living water and be saved through faith in Him. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There are a large amount of false religions with atheistic doctrines and blasphemous accusations, that proclaim their antichrist agenda and introduce a myriad of counterfeit gods and false Christs in their attempts to defame the true and the living God. But there is only One Who is almighty to save. In Revelation, the Lord Jesus identified Himself with three synonymous titles which alone are assigned to God Almighty: "I AM Alpha and Omega. I AM the Beginning and the End. I AM the First and the Last." In making this staggering announcement, it is clear that Jesus Christ is claiming equality with the Almighty God of the Universe. The Son of God is the unique Man Who has the authority to claim to be the Lord God Almighty, the self-existent and self-sufficient One. He is the Lord of heaven and earth Who alone is worthy of our praise, and Who is the single Person in the human race Who can declare: "I AM Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." Revelation 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, when we truly reflect on Who You are, we are lost for words. How can it be that our dear Savior left His heavenly throne of splendor and came to earth to suffer a life of humiliation and death, all for the love of us? Thank You, our Father, for sending Jesus to be our Savior. Thank You, Jesus, for dying for our sins and for the gift of eternal life. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. May our lives be filled with You and lived for Your glory, and may Your praise be on our lips forever. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. This Messianic psalm makes clear reference to the resurrection of Christ and His glorious ascension into heaven, where at this very moment He is seated in heavenly places on the very throne of God. Our Lord Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father and He is interceding on behalf of all who are called by His name. David's proclamation of God's goodness, his delight in God's faithfulness, and his hatred of those that do evil in the sight of the Lord, is a prophetic peep into the heart of our heavenly Savior Who alone could truly proclaim: "I have set the LORD continually before Me; because He is at My right hand. I Will Not Be Shaken." Through the eyes of Israel's great king David, we have a portrait of Christ, the perfect Man Who lived His life in utter dependence upon the Father in Whom He found His full sufficiency. Through the prophetic pen of Israel's king David, we see Christ, Who is the example of the perfect Man Whose heart is sanctified unto the Lord, and Who lifted up His voice in humble prayer and obedient praise to God for His guidance and counsel. May we seek to set the Lord continually before our own eyes, knowing that He is forever at our right hand and by His grace we will never be shaken. Psalm 16:8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we rejoice in the joy of our salvation and celebrate in the truth that Christ, our risen, ascended, glorified Lord, is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Thank You that by faith in Him, we too might have life eternal and enjoy fellowship with the Father, despite the inevitable difficulties and dangers that we face in this fallen world. Thank You that He is continually before us. May we never be shaken, knowing that Christ is seated on the right hand of the majesty on high, and by death has conquered death and given eternal life to all who believe in Him. In His name we Pray, AMEN. |
