To separate ourselves from all sorts of evil does not only refer to worldly activities like the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, the pride of life, and the pursuit of the ungodly works of darkness, but also to refrain from those supposedly Christian activities which are carried out in the flesh, for the praise of man, the gratification of self, or which fly in the face of the Word of God. Our worship should not be to indulge in an emotional experience or for personal pleasure, but should be to the glory of God where our conscience is quickened by His holy righteousness. Our devotion should be to fulfil the will of God and our delight should be to open up our heart to His love. Our choice should be to submit to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit in our life. When the man or woman of God seeks to abstain from all appearance of evil for the right reasons, our times of worship will not only glorify God, but also rejoice our heart. Our devotion will be Our Willingness To Carry Out The Will Of The Father in all we say and do, and our delight will be to know more and more of our Heavenly Father so that we may become a vessel through whom He pours out His love and grace to all those we meet. Abstain from all appearance of evil. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray that we may abstain from all appearance of evil, for the right reasons. May our consciences be quickened by Your righteousness, and may we feed on Your Word, by faith with thanksgiving. May we look away from ourselves to the beauty of Who You are and open up our hearts to Your heart of love and grace, and may we devote our lives to do Your will, to the glory of Your holy name. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

Through prayer, we are admitting Our Dependence Upon Our Heavenly Father. Through prayer we call out for Him to work in our lives. Through prayer, we express a living trust that He will answer our call and supply our needs, according to His riches in glory. Without prayer as a focal part of our day, we are exhibiting our independence from Him and demonstrating a self-sufficient attitude that dishonors His name. The mystery of Christ refers to the CHURCH, and we are all members of the Body of Christ. The mystery that was revealed to Paul and other New Testament apostles was: "Christ in you the hope of glory." The mystery concerns the Church being baptized into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. The mystery includes our bodies being a Temple of the Holy Spirit, Who permanently dwells in every member of Christ's spiritual body. May we take responsibility to earnestly pray that God will open up opportunities for doors to be opened, for the spread of the gospel, and that godly ministers and sound ministries would be ready and willing to share the precious truth of the gospel of God and the mystery of Christ. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that by faith in Christ, we have become part of His mystical Body and have the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide us in these difficult days. We pray that doors would be open for ministers and ministries to share the good news of the gospel of Christ and that many would be saved. Bless the ministers and ministries You have used to draw us closer to the Lord Jesus, and we pray that You would provide many openings for the gospel to be preached, both at home and abroad, for His name's sake, AMEN. This passage reminds us of the tremendous provision and faithfulness of God. He has promised to provide for us and to bless us. He is always faithful to His Word and He will give us what He has promised. We can trust Him with our future and our lives. God's promises to us are not just for our physical needs, but also for our spiritual needs. He will provide for us in ways we can't even imagine. We just need to look up, take a step back, and trust in the Lord. God has given us so much already, and we can be confident that He will continue to provide for us. He promises to be with us, to guide us, to comfort us, and to provide for us. He is our faithful Father, and His love for us is never ending. Let us take heart from this passage and Trust That God Will Be Faithful to His promises. Let us look to Him as our provider with faith. He will never let us down, and He will give us the strength and courage and the resources we need to face each day, His grace is sufficient. for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a faithful God Whose Word is true and Whose promises will never fail. We stand in awe of the mercy, love, goodness, and grace You show to your children. We rejoice that You sent Jesus to be our Redeemer so that we might be brought into the family of faith and be made Your spiritual sons and daughters, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Father, we thank You for Your generous provision, Your faithfulness, and your unending love. We are so grateful for all You have done for us, and praise You for all You have promised to do. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Jeremiah, like all those that are called, chosen, selected, or sent, was not to worry about the message he was to carry, because the words would be given from above at the right time. Jesus Himself reminded us that it is not we who speak when we are sent with God's words on our lips, but it is the Spirit of our Father Who speaks in us. The Promises Of God Do Not Change, the Word of the Lord stands fast forever. When the call of God is on a life, it does not matter about one's lineage, heritage, qualifications, suitability, skill, or education, God will equip each one for the task He has called them to do. May we be prepared to go in the strength of the Lord, no matter where He leads, knowing that His grace is sufficient. His power is made perfect in weak and obedient vessels that trust in Him. But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Jeremiah who was used by You to tell both Jew and Gentile the message You gave Him to speak. Thank You that You can use anyone who is ready and willing to hear and answer Your call. You have promised that Your grace is sufficient when, in faith, we respond to Your leading and guidance. Lord, here we are, send us. In Jesus' name, AMEN. The tongue is a very small instrument but it can be extremely influential, both for good and for evil. In the book of Proverbs, we find many examples where the tongue can be used for good but it also describes the harmful mischief-making and untold damage that a deceitful, gossiping, murmuring, or lying tongue can inflict on an innocent victim. The tongues of the righteous can give great encouragement and instruction, help and warning. The tongue is the beautiful instrument that is utilized to sing words of worshipful praise to the Lord God Almighty, and proclaim the wonders of His name and the glories of His majesty. However, the tongues of the wicked have been described as tools of destruction and instruments which can produce much pain and heartache. The tongue has been likened to a sharp sword which can inflict malicious backbiting against a neighbor, or has been likened to the poisonous venom of a forked-tongued serpent which can be used to frame deceit and harness trickery. May we be those who are careful with words, Guard Our Speech, and use our words to heal and not hurt, to guard and not gossip, to edify and encourage and not to wreak havoc. May our tongues be used to glorify God, knowing that this small instrument is under our personal control. May we choose to curb our tongue and use it for good and not for ill. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the warnings Your Word gives about the devastation that unguarded words can have. Help us to keep our tongues under control, being slow to speak but quick to listen. May the words that we speak and the meditation of our hearts always be acceptable to You, our God and our Savior. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. In this astonishing prayer, we get a faint glimpse into the eternal heart of God, as the perfect Son of Man humbly prayed that the Father would once again restore Him to His former place of glory and honor: the resplendent might, majesty, dominion, and power He once enjoyed before the world existed. Christ, the eternal Son of God, set aside His pre-incarnate glory and was born into a race of sinners, to live and to serve, to suffer and to die so that fallen man might be given eternal life by believing on His name: "God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." It is on the basis of Christ's Finished Work on the Cross that mankind has been redeemed so that all who believe on His name are forgiven, justified, sanctified, and glorified IN Christ our federal Head, and made one with Him. Surely He alone is worthy of all honor, and glory, and praise, and power, and might, majesty, dominion, and thanks, for ever and ever, AMEN. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You for giving Your Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Thank You that Jesus was willing to give up His honor and glory to be born into a race of sinners so that all who trust in Him might not be condemned but live with Him in everlasting glory. He alone is worthy of our grateful thanks for to Him belongs all honor, glory, praise and power, might, majesty, dominion, and thanks. Forever and ever, AMEN. Christ not only removed the sin-barrier between God and man through the sacrifice of His body on the Cross, but He also tore down the dividing walls of partition that separated Jew from Gentile, uniting them together in brotherly love, and making them 'one new man' in Christ. Christ also removed the spiritual barrier between Jew and Gentile so that by grace through faith in Him, those that were afar off were brought near. The brotherhood of believers became one Body, and Christ reconciled them to God through the Cross so that Jew and Gentile alike are justified through faith, and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ further removed the legal wall of partition, He fulfilled the unattainable Law on behalf of all who would believe on His name so that we are no longer under law but under grace. He cancelled out the certificate of debt which was against us, taking it out of the way and nailing it to the Cross, on behalf of all who would believe in His name. Through time and into eternity, we must never forget The Grace Of God Has Been Extended To All Who Trust In Christ For Salvation, by His blood he reconciled both Jew and Gentile into one Body, which is the Church. Through Christ's sacrificial death and Resurrection, Jew and Gentile alike have been untied together as one, putting to death forever the enmity that once existed. and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, praise Your name for Your perfect plan of salvation, which has united both Jews and Gentiles into one Body through Christ’s redeeming work on Calvary’s Cross. May we be one even as Christ is one with the Father so that others may know that we are all Your children, to the honor and glory of Your holy name. In Jesus' name we Pray Together, AMEN. 'Wake Up! Arise, Christians, it is time to awaken from sleep!' We must wake-up from our slumber and make ready for the duties of the day. "Wake up! This is already the hour for us to wake from sleep!" It is not simply the duties of the day that urge us to awaken from our sleep! We are called to wake from any spiritual slumber, "for now our salvation draws ever closer." Christ is coming to take us to be with Himself and the time is getting nearer. How important that we should be ready for His soon return, every moment of every day. What precious encouragement to the Body of Christ. How wonderful to be reminded that Jesus is coming back SOON. We have been given the blessed hope of His imminent return, and we are to establish it anew in our hearts, every moment of every day. Throughout our Christian lives, our focus should always be on Christ, but as the time for His return draws ever closer we are exhorted to WAKE UP, from our spiritual sleep, and remember that our salvation. Let us joyfully embrace these revitalizing words of Paul and rouse ourselves from any spiritual slumber, into which we may have drifted. Let us all become alert and ready watching and waiting for His soon return. And let us seek to use the time we have left on earth.. wisely. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that Your promises are 'yes' and 'amen' in Jesus, our Lord, and that His return is getting closer with each passing day. We pray we may throw off any impassivity that has developed in our hearts, wake up from any spiritual slumber, and remember the importance of redeeming the time we have left; to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. We are exhorted, as children of God who are born-again in Christ, towards purity of heart, the pursuit of peace, compassion, mercy, and godly living. Yet this epistle is written during a time of severe suffering and increasingly intense Christian persecution similar to todays world. Peter cautioned the Church that in the midst of this heightened hatred for God and escalating animosity towards those that are His, we are to maintain a clear conscience in thought, word, and deed, and to endure the inevitable suffering, with a dignified, Christ-like courage. The Bible makes it very plain that sinners will be punished and Wickedness Will Not Go Unchallenged. Evil is evil and will not be exonerated and God Himself warned, "vengeance is Mine, and I will repay." May we who have received the over-abounding mercy and grace of God in our lives, demonstrate a Christ-like character in our daily living through purity of heart, the pursuit of peace, the compassion of Christ, the mercy of God, and a life that is walking in spirit and truth, even during these increasingly difficult days of severe suffering and increasingly intense Christian persecution. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your eyes are over those that are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and that Your ears are ever open to our prayers. Have mercy on those who have not accepted Your gracious offer of salvation, and use us as witnesses to Your goodness and grace. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. As soldiers of Christ, we are to Arise, Be Strong In The Lord, and not to rely on ourselves. As members of the family of God, we are to stand firm in the power of HIS might, and not take courage in our own strength. Christian life has enormous blessings that are ours in Christ Jesus, but every true believer soon realizes that we are living in a world in which we are engaged in war. We are not in a conflict fought with fleshly weapons, sophisticated technology, cleverly devised battle strategies, or procedures of war, but a conflict that is fought in the spiritual realm. This battle requires his power from above, strength that is outside our human capacities, and power that only comes from the Lord. In our own strength, we are no match for the evil plots and cruel strategies of the enemy, that old serpent which is called the devil and Satan, but we can be strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might. It is only when we are conscious of our weakness, inabilities, and ineffectiveness, that we look to the Lord for the strength we need. God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise, and the weak things of the world to confound the mighty. Only when we recognize our weakness and die to self, will we be strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us all we need to be victorious in the spiritual battle in which all Your children are engaged. Help us to rely on You and not on our own abilities. Help us to find all we need in You and in the power of Your might. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Rejoicing in suffering may not seem the normal reaction to trials and tribulations. However, Paul insists they should never be a cause for complaint. He is teaching that suffering for the sake of Christ, is A Badge Of Honor For God. We are not called to rejoice because we are suffering. We are to rejoice IN our suffering. We are to maintain an attitude of thanksgiving and praise in the midst of our suffering. We are to rejoice in the Lord, no matter what problems we may be called upon to face. Paul then explains that tribulation brings about perseverance while perseverance develops a proven character and godly character brings about hope. Our hope in the Lord will never, ever be disappointed because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, Who was given to us the moment we trusted Christ for salvation. Let us take to heart this exhortation to rejoice in our suffering. As members of the Body of Christ, we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing, not only in this world, but in the ages to come, praise His holy name. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for our salvation and the hope that we have in Christ. Give us teachable spirits and a willingness to rejoice in the Lord, no matter what difficulties we may have to face. May our lives be testimonies to Your goodness and grace. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Paul calls to our remembrance that now we are children of the light who are to live our lives as unto the Lord, in accordance with the truth that is in Christ Jesus. He reminds us that we were once corrupted by the deceitful desires of our old, fleshly self, but now are to put on the new self, which is created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. So We Are Called To Live In Spirit And Truth with our Christian brethren, to walk in holiness all the days of our life, and to live godly in Christ Jesus. Our lives are to be an open and honest book for all to read. Our lives are not to hide behind a hypocritical mask of lies and deceit, or display a fictitious form of godliness, but one that puts away all falsehood and speaks the truth in love. We are members of the same Body, and we are all one in Christ. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, examine our hearts and expose any areas that are displeasing to You. Help us to root out any hypocrisy from our hearts and remove any mask of pretense that we may be hiding behind. May we always speak the truth and live godly in Christ Jesus. Teach us, we pray, to love others as You have loved us. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There is a saying that behind every good man there is a good woman, and the description of The Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31 presents the pinnacle of godly womanhood, who not only demonstrates personal wisdom, good home-making skills, significant graces, a striking talent and an industrious provider for her family, but also one who proves herself to be a mother who enables her children to thrive, a wife who encourages her husband to success and a valued neighbor who shows genuine concern and generosity towards others. The virtuous woman of Proverbs 31 is a rare breed...as Lemuel concludes his discourse, and brings his observations to a close he makes three important observations. First, that charm is deceitful, second, that beauty is vain, but thirdly that a woman who fears the LORD, is a woman who shall be praised. How blessed are those who can say that their lives have been touched by such a woman - or a man, who displays the shining qualities about which Lemuel wrote in the last chapter of the book of Proverbs. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, just as we read of the beautiful attributes that shine through the life of a virtuous woman or man of integrity, in the last chapter of the book of Proverbs, we pray that our lives would become a reflection of the Lord Jesus. We pray that our lives would remain nailed to the Cross, Take away all those things in us that are not of you and mold us into the people You would have us to be. Lord, we want to be willing to be conformed into the beautiful likeness of Christ, and although this may at times be painful. Teach us YOUR way until we can say, "it is not we that live but Christ that lives in us." This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. We are called into the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, but too often there is strife and acrimony among believers and feuds between Christian workers or groups of believers. James identifies the cause of conflict as being pride and self-elevation, or a desire to excel in the midst of one's brothers and sisters in Christ, or the thrill of worldly applause. This is not how the Body of Christ should function, it dishonors the Lord Who bought us. This is not the way Christian brethren should behave toward one another, and yet There Is Division In Many Churches which is so contrary to Scripture and is opposite of God's yearning desire that His children live godly lives that honor Him. James is not speaking of unbelievers in this passage but those that are born-again, and it is a shocking and sad situation that the sort of quarrels, conflicts, covetousness, resentments, fights, and worldly carnality about which James is speaking, continues to be The Behavior Of Some Christians towards their fellow believers, even today. May we be careful not to follow after our own carnal cravings and worldly desires, but be mindful of the will of our heavenly Father, to say and do only those things that bring glory to His name and to jealously guard the things that honor our Lord and Savior. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing privilege of the Holy Spirit Who desires us to be holy. Keep us from engaging in strife and acrimony and help us never to foster carnal attitudes or crave after the things of this world. Help us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. May we truly die to our own desires and jealously and live for Your praise and glory. In we Pray Jesus' name, AMEN. Christ's life was the exemplary witness to the truth of these words. He was the eternal Son of God, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. All power in heaven and earth had been entrusted to Him, but He did not demand the service of others but knelt to wash His disciple's feet. The One before Whom all creation will one day bow in humble adoration, came to be Servant to all. His final act of service to the children of men, was to become the pivotal point in the history of the universe, when He gave His life as a ransom for many. May we be endowed with the mind of Christ. Although He was the Son of God, He learned obedience by the things that He suffered and humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross, to pay the price for the sin of humanity and to ransom all those who trust in His name. Let us be those who Live Our Lives With Servant Hearts, being a blessing to those around us to the glory of God. May we experience the words of Jesus in our lives when he said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive," as we follow in the footsteps of our heavenly Lord, the Servant King. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Our United Prayer:
Lord, we pray for wisdom and grace to know how to suffer with You in this life, and to give our lives in service to others and to You. Keep us from hankering after the glitz and glamour of this world. May we, like Christ, humble ourselves, become obedient to Your Word, and follow in Your footsteps, so that Your name may be glorified. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
