In this short Psalm Of Reverent Worship, mighty men of the earth are duty-bound to give honor and praise to the great God of the universe. To Him alone is ascribed glory, He is the One that sets men up in their place to carry out His eternal plans. He is the One that removes men from their thrones, He is the Almighty God. His sovereignty is over all the earth and He is the One that: "Rules over the kingdom of men," no-one could draw another breath without his sovereign permission. His glory is exhibited throughout the heavens. The Lord brought the earth, and all created things, into being by the Word of His mouth, and the majestic display of a thunderstorm with its flashes of lightning and great reverberating thunderclaps. Should we not ascribe to the Lord glory and strength, and give to the Lord the honor due to his name? Should we not honor the Lord in thought, word, and deed, and adore Him in spirit and in truth? Should we not worship the Lord in the beauty of His perfect holiness, knowing that He alone is worthy of our worship and praise? Should not we who are His children, made in His image, and born of the Spirit, humble our hearts before Him and bow our ear to listen to the whisper of His still voice, as He speaks to us His Words of comfort and guidance? The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, there are so many examples of Your great glory and majesty, and yet You are interested in us, Your children. Help us to attune our ears to hear Your voice, as we learn to live humbly and walk wisely before You in spirit and truth. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. This entire psalm is a great song of praise and worship that declares the goodness and mercy of God to all people. He is faithful and true, and His grace extends to each nation of the world forever and ever. Let us all Shout Joyfully To The Lord And Serve Him with gladness. Let us come before Him with joyful singing and know that the Lord Himself is God Almighty Who has made us, and not we ourselves. Praise God that by grace through faith we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Let us enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Let us give thanks to Him and bless His name, the Lord is good, His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness endures throughout all generations. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of Life which is in Christ Jesus. Thank You that You are our Creator and God, our Saviour and Redeemer. You alone are worthy of all praise and thanksgiving, and we bless and glorify Your holy name. Thank You that You are a faithful God Who keeps His promises and fulfils His Word and thank You that Your loving-kindness endures forever. Praise Your holy name, AMEN. We are all God's children and as we grow in grace and in an understanding of His Word of truth, our hearts should be thankful for His goodness and grace. As we mature in the faith and progress in our spiritual walk, we should reflect on the enormous sacrifice that the Lord Jesus Christ made for us on the Cross. As believers who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ, we are encouraged to develop an attitude of grateful praise and ceaseless thanksgiving to our Father in heaven, for a man's spiritual maturity is reflected in a heart of thanksgiving and praise for all that the Lord has done for us. God knows that thanksgiving and praise are no bedfellows to unforgiveness or fear. He knows that gratitude and rejoicing is no companion of dissatisfaction or murmuring, and so we are encouraged to give thanks in everything, even those difficult, daily circumstances, knowing that His grace is sufficient for those that are in Christ Jesus. As His children, we have benefits and glories beyond our understanding. Let us glorify God by giving thanks in everything, this is the will of God, for all who are in Christ Jesus. in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, may we grow in grace and in an attitude of thanksgiving for all that you have done for us, in Christ Jesus. Lord, we desire that Your will be done in our lives. We know that it is Your will that we should give thanks in all things, and so we pray that You would develop and refine this exquisite grace of thanksgiving in us. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Prayer is the means to maintain unbroken fellowship with our Heavenly Father, and unless we develop persistence in prayer and devote ourselves to praying, we are in danger of becoming lazy, disinterested, and compromised in our faith. Devotion to prayer is to ensure that every piece of our spiritual armor has been prayerfully strapped on. Prayer is not sitting for a few minutes with hands folded, and eyes shut tight. Prayer is the tool we have been given to prepare us for the work God has called us to do and to ensure that we are well-prepared when faced with a crisis. Prayer is not meant to be saved for a rainy day or only used in an emergency. Prayer Is Our Lifeline To The Lord and we should develop an attitude of ceaseless prayer. Prayer is warmed by worship, petitions are perfected by praise, promises are claimed through a grateful heart, and intercessions are offered in the solemn acknowledgement that we have an audience with the King of kings and Lord of lords. Prayer should not be the quick after-thought of a busy believer, but an attitude that permeates one's whole life. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we bless You for Your grace and mercy to us. Thank You that we have the right to lay at Your feet our own needs and those of others. Increase our understanding of the great privilege of prayer that has been granted to us and all Your children, and we pray that we increasingly devote our lives to You in prayer, praise, and grateful thanks. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. The Heart That Is Seeking God and His glory is someone who is walking, and living, and praying, in spirit and in truth. They are someone who is working the works of God, that HE has prepared for them to do. The one who aligns their heart's desire to God's desire, develops the mind of Christ, as the Holy Spirit teaches and trains and takes time to conform His child, day by day, into the very likeness of the Lord Jesus. The desire and delight of the Lord Jesus was always, to do the will of His Father, and to glorify Him on earth. How it must have rejoiced the Father's heart that He finished the work God gave Him to do. Every one of His children has work to do, and what a thrill when we fulfil all His council and hear Him say, "well done good and faithful servant." Let us plead that the heart's desires of others are gifted to them, as to ourselves, so that the will of the Father becomes the personal pleadings of our own hearts. When our will and purpose reflects the will and purpose of God, and His desires become the dear desires of our heart, the life that we live translates into His best will for us, and we will live to His praise and glory and fulfil the whole purpose for which we were created. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, so much of our lives has been seeking our own desires, which are empty vessels, unless filled to the brim with You and with Your will. May our hearts and minds be increasingly conformed into the likeness of Christ, and may we grow in grace, so that we are increasingly sensitive to Your desires and make them the longing of our hearts within us. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The Day of the Lord will first come as a thief in the night when for seven years, the wrath of God will be poured out in fullest measure on a God-hating, Christ-rejecting, sinful world with its prime objective to open the eyes of a blinded Israel to the identity of their promised Messiah and to save a multitude of Gentiles without number: "So That The Nations Will Know that I AM THE LORD and there is no other." As foretold by many prophets, in that day the LORD of hosts will become a beautiful crown and a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people. But before the Lord returns to earth in the splendor of His majesty and in power and great glory, the little remnant of Israel will first acknowledge the Lord Jesus as their Messiah-King and God of the universe, shouting in ecstatic harmony: "Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!" In that day the LORD Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your plans and purposes will never fail and that nothing happens in our lives that is not known or permitted by You, for our eternal benefit and to Your greater praise and glory. Until that great day when Jesus comes in the clouds to rescue the Church from the wrath that is to be poured out on a Christ-rejecting, sinful world, We pray that we may be salt and light to those whom You place in our paths. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. We are born dead in sin and at enmity with God. As members of a fallen race, we have all sinned, and all have fallen far short of the goodness and perfection of God. God Alone Is Perfect... so He alone is able to fulfil the command to love with every fiber of His being - for God alone is love. It is humanly impossible to love the Lord in the way He commands and to love others with that same godly love. No one can love God every moment of the day and in every circumstance of life. As members of humanity, we are bound by our fallen nature, to fall short of His perfection. It is only as we abide in Him and continue to be filled with His Spirit of love, that the very love of God is poured into our heart from His Father-heart of love. Only as we are filled with His love from above, are we able to reciprocate that love. Only as we walk in spirit and truth, can we love the Lord our God with all our heart, and mind, and soul, and strength and thus, become a channel of His love to those that are hurting. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, what amazing grace You have shown to us and the entire human race, that Your love for us is so great that You would send Your only begotten Son to die for our sins. No matter what it takes, we pray that we may learn to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and with every fiber of our being, knowing that it is only as we die to selves and live for Christ, that Your love may be manifested in us. Thank You, in Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. What a touching scene we have here. Jesus had sent His twelve apostles out with a special commission to preach repentance to the lost sheep. What a picture of so many Christians and ministries today! Working Hard For The Lord, obeying His call on their life, exhilarated at all that God is carrying out in their ministry and eager to share their stories. Yet we read in the next verse: "There was so much coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat." The disciples were in danger of 'ministry burnout' which is an all too common occurrence in Christians today. There is indeed a time to work, but as Jesus reminded His disciples, there is also a time to rest: "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while. Should not all who are earnestly carrying out the special ministry that God has purposed for them, be watchful to gather around the Lord Jesus and to sit at His feet daily. His grace is abundantly sufficient for all our needs, but it is only as we depend on Him that we discover the abundance of His overflowing supply in all we do. The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the work that You have purposed to do through us. Help us to grow ever closer to Jesus, day by day, and draw on all His abundant supply, moment by moment. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Christ's sacrificial work on the Cross at Calvary, which includes His substitutionary death, burial, and Resurrection as laid out in Scripture, is the single most spectacular event that has ever taken place in time and into eternity, by it, God opened up the way of salvation for whosoever will believe on the name of the only begotten Son of God. What a Savior! He bore rejections and ridicule on our account. He received scoffing and shame in our place. Through His shed lifeblood, our pardon for sin was secured and sealed, and life-everlasting was the gracious gift that we received and all we had to do was to believe on His name. He carried our griefs. He bore our sorrow and on our account, He had the full fury of God's wrath against sin poured out upon Him as He hung on that Cross, over 2000 years ago. He Is Our Savior! Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You that Christ was lifted up to die on the Cross to pay the price for our sins. We are as guilty of His death on the Cross as those that falsely accused Him and nailed Him there to die. We are equally to blame, and yet we praise and thank You that through faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, we have been redeemed and forgiven of our sins. We praise You that His finished work was sufficient. What a Savior! Praise His holy name, AMEN. Often when difficulties happen or when problems rise up in life, we need to turn our hearts to the comforting words of Scripture. We need to grab a promise and hold on to that promise, knowing that we have a wonderful and faithful God Who has promised to be with us in all the twists and turns of life. He has committed to be our sufficiency in all situations. There is a wonderful rest that the Lord can give to those that are His, in the midst of the troubles that life which seem to shower over our heads or that try to bury us in the depths of depression. We need to rest in the trust that we have in our Savior. We need to Faith-Rest. Resting in the faith that we have in the Lord, abiding in the arms of our God. But how can you and I Faith-Rest when our lives are shattered and the brokenness of our heart is hemorrhaging? Well, we need to remember that the Word of God is life and health. His Word is true and trustworthy; His Word is perfect and pure, and His promises to us endure from one generation to another. And God has promised to "heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds." What He has done for others, He will do for you. Let us trust in His love, rest in His promises, and believe the truth of God's Word which tells us that "He Heals The Broken-Hearted and binds up their wounds," and He is able because He went to the Cross on our account, and shed His blood to become our substitute. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your promise to bind up our brokenness and heal our hurt. May we walk humbly before You, trusting Your many precious promises. We know that You are willing and able to carry us through any and every situation that life may throw at us. Thank You so much for Your loving-kindness toward us. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Giving thanks to the Lord for His wondrous deeds and bountiful mercies is the message contained within this well-loved passage of Scripture, which should be taken to heart and manifested in the lives of all who believe. Uniting As One In Joyful Psalms of rejoicing, and lifting up our voices together in spiritual songs and harmonious hymns of praise, is the exciting theme that threads its way throughout the entire Bible, but is very evident in this well-loved Psalm which calls for people of every nation to: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." All people are summoned to: "Serve the Lord with gladness, come before Him with joyful singing," because our God is good and gracious. He is merciful and kind. He is faithful and long-suffering, and His compassion reaches from one generation to another and will remain into the eternal ages to come. There is nothing more beautiful than to rejoice and praise our Almighty God Who loved us so much, that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the 'Old Hundredth' and for the call to lift up our voices in worship, praise, and thanksgiving, for all that You have done for us. We praise You for our creation as new creatures in Christ and for Your promise to preserve us throughout this life. We praise and thank You that the day is coming when we will be glorified, spirit, soul, and body, we will see Jesus as He is and be made like Him. We praise and worship You with grateful hearts and with songs of thankfulness. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The image of a branch gaining all its sustenance and strength from the parent vine is a beautiful description of our total dependence upon God, without Whom we can do nothing, in Him we live and move and have our being. Although Jesus Christ was fully God, He drew all His strength from His Father in heaven, demonstrating how you and I should live our lives as God's children, drawing all our strength from our Lord Jesus Christ: "Without Him We Can Do Nothing." We are to walk in spirit and truth and to do only those things that we hear from Christ our Savior so that His life may be lived in us and through us. Until we humbly confess that in and of ourselves we can do nothing, we will foolishly and unsuccessfully attempt to produce good fruit in our own strength. Let us meditate on this vital principle: JESUS is the vine and we are the branches. We are to abide in HIM and allow HIS Spirit to live HIS life through us, just as He abode in the Father and did only those things that He heard from the Father. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, teach us how to abide in Christ and He in us. Teach us to live our lives as You would have us to live, in total dependence upon You (which is the life of Christ being lived through us), so that we may produce the good fruit in our lives that is honoring to You. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. There are two groups of people living in this world today; those that are saved and those that are lost; those that are for Christ and those that are against Him. There are two creations living side by side; those with their feet firmly fixed in the old creation in Adam (who are part of the kingdom of darkness), and those with their hearts resting in Christ Jesus (who are part of the kingdom of light and have been born again into the new creation in Christ). There are two worldviews, two mindsets, two domains, and two frames of reference into which every member of the human race falls. In chapter 4, we find James warning that the pursuit of pleasure and relying on our own plans too often results in a compromised faith and lack of dependence on the Lord Who is the Giver of life and through Whom all good gifts come. James points out that if a believer strays from the path of truth or "falls from grace" as Paul describes it, he becomes a friend of the world. As His children, we should be very careful to Live According To His Will on a daily basis and be sure to include Him in our preparations and planning, rather than blithely making arrogant decisions and prideful pronouncements that exclude the Lord from the equation. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, it is easy to get caught up in the joys and cares of this life. Help us to remember how fragile our lives are and how short our time on earth is, in relation to eternity. Help us to live our lives with a eternal perspective, knowing that You have our lives in Your hands, and You do know what tomorrow will bring. May we take to heart the words of this precious old poem: "Only one life 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. In this verse, we are directed from the natural to the spiritual and are also reminded that as His spiritual children, WE are the house of God. We are the living stones who are being built up, day by day, into the spiritual Temple of God, and today Jesus Christ is continuing to build His Church, we are the Body of Christ: "And the gates of hell will not prevail against us." Hebrews is not simply written for early Jewish Christians to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of Christ's life, death, and Resurrection, or His interconnection with Old Testament Scriptures. It contains vital truth for all born again Christians and reminds us of the importance to mature in the faith, to work the works of God, and to live the sanctified life of a Christian who is walking in spirit and in truth. This verse is connected with rewards and shows that our endurance to the end is an outward, demonstrable proof to others of our secured position in Christ. Christians are instructed to 'prove all things' and holding fast to the end becomes the outward, verifiable evidence that we are truly God's household. It identifies us as a man or woman that gives honor to the God Who bought us with His precious blood. How we thank God that We Are His Household, Members Of Christ's Body, and that our own, frail body has become a temple of the living God by His Holy Spirit. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the inspired book of Hebrews and the glorious lessons it contains for our learning. Thank You that we are occupied by the Holy Spirit, a member of Christ's Body, and part of the growing Household of God. Thank You for the life and work of Christ and for His faithfulness over His house. Keep us from falling into carnality or any form of legalism and we pray that our confidence in Your Word of truth will hold fast to the end. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. occupied The Lord is our Shepherd, and He is the shelter from the storm. He is the one that loves with an everlasting love, and He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The Loving-Kindness Of The Lord Never Fails, and the grace and mercy of our Heavenly Father gives unlimited supply. But how can God teach us His ways so that we walk in His ways? Well, God has laid out His plans and purposes for us in His Word, and the Bible should be the immovable foundation upon which our trust in God is founded. He clearly lays out the path that we are to follow and we should read, mark, learn, and digest the Word of God with an undivided heart so that in the power of the Holy Spirit, we may grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. This is the will of God in each of our lives, that we should know God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray that we may know more of Jesus so that we will understand Your way and Your will for our lives. Thank You that Your loving-kindness is new every morning and that Your grace is sufficient, and thank You that in Christ, we are enabled to walk in the way that You would have us go. May we lift our souls to Him, submit our lives to Him, and follow His lead always. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
