The Lord Jesus Christ, as The Eternal Son Of God and perfect Son of Man, was in heaven before the foundation of the world, and it was He Who came down from His heavenly residence to be born into the race of sinful man. The Lord Jesus was not simply a good man, a great teacher, a renowned prophet, or a charismatic miracle-worker. Jesus Christ is God. Jesus Christ is the third member of the eternal Trinity, the Word made flesh Who alone came down from heaven and Who, by His own intrinsic power and authority, ascended into heaven. Only spiritual birth from above can remove the blinkers of spiritual ignorance and qualify a man or woman for entry into the kingdom of God. God has spoken to us through Jesus Christ the Son of Man Whom He has appointed heir of all things, and Who alone has ascended into heaven. Praise His name that He alone came down from heaven to become our Redeemer. John 3:13 No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven. Our United Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You that we have been born from above, have become children of God, and have an inheritance kept for us in heaven. Lord, we do not have the greatest knowledge and understanding of Scripture, but we do know that You came down from heaven to die on the Cross to pay the price for our sins, and that You rose again the third day to break the power of sin in our lives and make us new creations in Christ. Lord, we know that You ascended into heaven and that we are positioned in Christ in heavenly places, for which we praise and thank You. May we live our lives in spirit and truth to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

Jesus simply explained the gospel that we read in John chapter 3: "That whosoever believes on the Him will not perish but have everlasting life." He was just stating what the Philippian jailer would hear: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." He was simply saying what Paul would teach in Romans 8: "There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus." Jesus laid out this truth very emphatically by starting what He said with the words verily, verily: "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." Faith comes by hearing and so the more we hear the gospel, the more it becomes a part of our being and the more we truly trust the Word of God. If we believe "that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures," then we have heard His Word, believed the Father Who sent Him, and "are given Eternal Life, and will not come under judgment but have passed from death to life." John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, keep us ever mindful of Your Word and the truth that is contained in the plain message of Scripture and the glorious gospel. We praise and thank You that we have passed from death to life, by believing in Jesus. In His name we Pray, AMEN. |
