As children of God, we have the Holy Spirit of God, and it is in Him that we have complete victory over the world, with abiding and eternal results. Nevertheless, We Are To Be On Our Guard against the many false and deceptive spirits that are in the world today and are called upon to test each one, however benevolent or enticing they may appear, not all are of God. The Testing Of False spirits is closely linked with discerning false prophets, false doctrines, and deceptive teachers. Let us never forget that many who profess Christianity today do not have a saving faith, but are used by Satan to teach a false gospel and to lead many astray. Such false teachers are of the world and preach from a worldly wisdom, and they deliver a dangerous and false gospel. Let us never forget that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Let us be ever mindful that they are from the world and so they speak as if they are from the world, and the world listens to them. Let us test every spirit to see if it is of God, for the enemy as a roaring lion prowls around seeking whom he may devour, but we have the mind of Christ. 1 John 4:5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to understand the truth that we are in the world but not of the world. May we not get discouraged when the world seems to love its own but hates us. Keep us from any form of worldly philosophy or from trying to please those in the world. May we never yearn for affection or adoration from the world, but may we set our minds on Christ Who loves us with an everlasting love. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

The Enemy Of Our Soul seeks to ship-wreck the life and testimony of believers by whatever means he can, and Paul's counter-measure to satanic influences, worldly philosophers, deceptive arguments, and false doctrines, is to know and practice the truth. We are called to be aware of the multiplicity of unbiblical teachings and demonic doctrines awash in Christendom today, but the best way to discern a lie is to know the truth. The best way to identify false doctrine or a Christian cult, is to study the Word of God so you know the truth and the truth will set you free. Colossians 2:21 warns of the dangers of asceticism, which is a mixture of legalism and mysticism. Paul is warning Christians of becoming enslaved by man-made rules. He urges these believers not to impose worldly rites, rituals, and regulations upon themselves, when their position in Christ has set them free from the curse of the Law. But when this verse is taken in isolation, it promotes the opposite of Paul's teaching. We need not study the finer details of Gnosticism, legalism, mysticism, asceticism, or any other false teaching or demonic doctrine to identify error, but we do need to study the Word of God, which points to the Person and work of CHRIST, so that we know the truth, and the truth will set us free. Colossians 2:21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we have all that we need for life and godliness in the Scriptures. Thank You that a knowledge of Your Word will help us recognize false teachings or unbiblical doctrines. Keep us alert to the wiles of the enemy of our souls, who seeks to shipwreck our testimony and destroy our opportunity to serve You in spirit and truth. Thank You that in Christ, we have died to the elementary principles of this world and are free from the curse of Law. Never again do we need to submit ourselves to any decrees of this world. Help us walk, day by day, in spirit and in truth, for Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There were many infidels in the early church, and there continues to be many today, who have set themselves up in places of authority within Christianity. They are men and women who reject biblical authority and substitute it with a range of unbiblical doctrines and ungodly philosophies. Peter warns us to avoid these ungodly and presumptions people... "especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires." These people enjoy to exploit those who listen to their falsehoods, and Peter warned that such people would face severe judgement. They will have to face the equivalent punishment that is awaiting the angels who rebelled against God, and left their first estate. Also, a day is coming when they will have to stand before God and give an account of their deeds, and face the terrible judgement of God that was prepared for the devil and his angels. This is not a fuzzy message, but a wake-up call to all of us to identify and reject the destructive, self-willed, False Teachers Of Our Day, who indulge their flesh in corrupt desires, despise authority, and do not even tremble when they twist God's word. Praise God that He knows how to rescue those that are His, and by His grace, we will stand in His presence in the Day of Christ. Let us trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding. In all our ways, let us acknowledge Him, and reverence His holy name, and let us permit Him to direct our path into the way of peace. 2 Peter 2:10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, give us wisdom and discernment to recognize and reject those 'teachers' who indulge in fleshly desires, or present a watered-down gospel that deceives its hearers. Open the eyes of our understanding, that we may see wonderful truths in Your Word. Help us to be strong and very courageous in standing up for the truth of the gospel, and help us to be still before You and know that You are God, and there is none other. Thank You, for the promise of Your presence in the lives of all Your people. In Jesus’ name, we Pray, AMEN. |
