The syncretism and traditions of mankind do not have Christ as the focal point, and Paul was warning the Colossian believers not to adopt these basic, world philosophies of men or their legalistic laws, because they cloud the true concept of Christ, distort the biblical truth of the Lord Jesus in the mind of the believer, and they rob the Christian of a proper understanding of the wonderful sufficiency and amazing adequacy of Christ in the life of ALL believers. Such unwholesome thinking prevents us from having the correct biblical view of Christ which is that within Him dwells ALL the fullness of the Godhead bodily. ALL the essence of the Deity inhabits the Lord Jesus in bodily form, the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily within CHRIST. The world holds up a very different value system. Your spouse completes you, a child completes you, or even you don't need anyone or anything else as you can find completeness within yourself. But all these worldly musings are falsehoods from the father of all lies. BUT the truth is laid out in the Scriptures and when you accept the truth from the Word of God, that ALL the essential essence of Deity inhabits the Lord Jesus in His bodily form, and that you have been made complete in Christ as fact, then you have the most wonderful security in God, which allows you to rest in the Lord Jesus. You know that in Christ ALL The Fullness Of God dwells in bodily form, and IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD, YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE. Colossians 2:9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for this wonderful truth that Christ is all we need. He is our complete sufficiency in all things, and in Christ, we have already been made complete simply because we trust His name. In Jesus' name, we Pray, AMEN.

As children of our Heavenly Father, we are to function in the divine nature that is ours, by faith in Christ. The Lord Jesus lived his life, from start to finish, in the way that God ordained that mankind should live from the beginning. Godliness should be the objective of a believer, where a practical holiness honors the Lord our God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength - but godliness should manifest love. Love for our perfect God must develop into love for an imperfect humanity. We are to demonstrate Christ-like tenderness, brotherly and sisterly kindness to our imperfect brothers and sisters in Christ: "For by this will all men know that we are Christ's disciples." Let us reckon ourselves dead to sin and all that the old sin nature represents and let us reckon ourselves alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord so that by His power we may love the Lord our God with all our heart and in His name, add to that godliness, brotherly and sisterly kindness, and progress from brotherly kindness to the divine love that is ours in Christ Jesus. 2 Peter 1:7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that while we were condemned sinners and dead in trespasses and sins, Christ died for us. We thank You that by faith we have been born again into Your family and became Your children. May we grow in grace and manifest all the Christ-like characteristics that You desire of all Your children. Help us to love and reverence You as You deserve and enable us, we pray, to add to that godliness, brotherly and sisterly kindness, and give us the grace to progress from brotherly and sisterly kindness to the godly love which is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord, in Whose name we Pray, AMEN. |
