There is no rest from the attacks of the enemy for any child of God, and Christ's urgent warning to His disciples to watch and keep on watching, to pray and keep on praying, is as equally vital in today's age as it was when His disciples succumbed to the flesh on that momentous occasion. Keep watching and keep praying is the guiding principle for every child of God, every moment of the day and throughout our time on earth: "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation." It is only as we submit to God in humble submission and watchful prayer that we can resist the evil one. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, but those that utterly depend on God, abide in Christ and pray in unity with the Holy Spirit are given the strength to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil. Christ not only paid the price for our sin but broke the power of sin in the lives of all who believe in this Christian dispensation. May we all stand firm on the gospel of grace and the Word of truth in full assurance that HIS grace is sufficient and His power is perfected in our weaknesses. Matthew 26:41 “Watch And Pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we consider the passion of Christ and the enormous pressures and pain He underwent on our account, we can only praise and thank You for Your immeasurable gift and His incalculable grace. We understand that our own, fallen, fleshly resolve is weak, and that a powerful enemy is seeking to shipwreck our faith. But thanks be to God that in Christ, we have all we need to stand firm, as we watch and pray. Help us to rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, and in everything, to give thanks and praise for Your goodness and grace. Help us, Father, to watch and pray in spirit and truth, and to abide in Christ day by day, to Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

As believers in Christ, we plead His righteousness. As Christians, we come to God in the name of Jesus. We are not worthy to gather up the crumbs under His table, but we can boldly approach the throne of grace because we appeal to Christ's worthiness and call on His righteousness. We petition the Father through the precious blood of His only begotten Son, and we approach the throne of grace in the name of Jesus. We approach the Father through the Son, and we have this incredible access through The Power Of The Holy Spirit. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. As we reflect on what Christ has done for us and as we contemplate what the Father has graciously given to sinners who are deserving of hell, should not the soul of every blood-bought child of God thrill with grateful thanks and never-ending praise? What a privilege to know that it is through Christ alone that we have access by one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, it is by the grace of God that we are what we are: blood-bought children of God with free access into Your presence to find grace to help in time of need. Thank You that Christ paid the full price for our sins and willingly gave up His life so that we might live eternally. Thank You that today He is in heaven interceding for us, and thank You that we have the Holy Spirit, giving us access to You every moment of the day. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The habits that we set up in our thinking, develop a fixed mental attitude which pre-determines the way that we respond to life-situations - a mind-set that influences our reactions to the circumstances that touch our lives, a disposition that constructs a set of self-imposed values and perceptions about God (and other people) that may be twisted or false, unless they are founded upon the truth. Death in Scripture means separation from God, and for a carnally minded believer, death means estrangement from God, broken fellowship, ,inner turmoil. When a believer develops a carnal mind-set, we habitually construct a false set of values, incorrect perceptions about God, and distances themselves from the Lord that bought them. But praise God we can rectify this sad state of affairs by changing the way we think, by habitually setting our heart on heaven by continuously looking to Jesus and by fervently drinking in His Word by developing a spiritual mind-set that understands, The Spirit Is Life And Peace. Romans 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your faithfulness, that even when we are faithless You prove faithful. Help us to keep the eyes of our hearts fixed on Jesus, and help us to develop spiritual mind-sets that honors You. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
