Christ's Sermon on the Mount covers every area of godly living and right thinking. Unlike the Mosaic Law, it is not a series of rules and regulations. It is not a list of instructions on 'do's' and 'don'ts'. His sermon was an authoritative teaching that laid out general principles for life and living. These principles can be applied to every facet of life and are relevant in every situation we may encounter. Christ's sermon was designed to show that entrance into His kingdom did not only depend on good works, but a pure heart and godly motives none of which are attainable by fallen humanity. Jesus was showing that the only way to enter the kingdom of heaven and participate in Christ's millennial rule on the earth is to be saved. We are saved by grace through faith in JESUS CHRIST, and this is non-negotiable. Today there are still proud, legalistic, self-righteous, religious-minded men and women who are blinded to The Narrow WAY That Leads To Everlasting Life. There are many that refuse to accept the TRUTH and do not find the path that leads to LIFE everlasting. It is not God's will that any should perish but that all should come to faith in Christ. May we be ready and willing to speak the truth in love to those that are lost in their own self-importance, and by God's grace may some be snatched from the broad path that leads to destruction. Matthew 7:14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your grace, You brought us to an understanding that the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to everlasting life. Thank You that by faith in Christ, we have found the Way to life and discovered Him to be the truth of the glorious gospel of grace. We pray that You would have pity on those that remain dead in their sin. Have mercy on those who through pride and their own self-sufficiency, have not yet found the narrow way that leads to life. Use us we pray, in whatever way You choose, to speak the truth in love to those who are on the broad way to destruction, and bring many into Your kingdom this day, In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

All who are truly born-again brothers in Christ are saints of God, and we are all called according to the purpose of God. We are all washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. All who believe in the only begotten Son of God for salvation are cleansed by His blood the moment they believe. All who trust in Christ for salvation are sanctified and set apart unto God for His service, the moment they place their faith in Christ. All who believe that Christ was the substitute for their sins, are justified in the sight of God and declared righteous in His eyes from the moment of salvation. It is at this point of rebirth that every sinner who is saved by grace is washed, sanctified, and Justified In The Sight Of God, securing forever their eternal salvation and giving them eternal security as they journey through life. But as Jesus taught on the night that He was betrayed, those that are fully cleansed by His blood and washed clean by grace through faith in Him still need to "wash their feet" and be cleansed as we journey through life. We are both clean and called to be cleansed. 1 Corinthians 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are washed clean in the blood of Christ, positioned in Him, and set apart unto You. We pray that we may grow in grace, mature in the faith, and walk in spirit and truth to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Paul was passionate for His Lord and equally passionate that we understand and apply the truth of the whole counsel of God, but he knew that many would be tossed about by the chill winds of deceptive doctrines and that many false teachers and doctrines would enter the Church to confuse the flock, to lead astray and entice many to return to the path of legalism and worldly pursuits. Near the conclusion of him exposing the dangers of legalism and the glories of grace, Paul nails his whole argument on the Cross of Christ. He explains that the gospel is being distorted by the boastings of mankind who, in their pride, seek to draw other believers back under Law, which was nailed to the Cross of Christ at salvation. It is so much more acceptable for prideful people to do SOMETHING to add to Christ's work on Calvary: 'For if I keep some man-made rule,' we argue, 'what wonderful credit I will receive!' Because Christ fulfilled the whole Law in His life and death, the whole Law was nailed to the Cross. Because we are in Christ, the righteousness that He gained was also gained for us. We did not need to do anything to be clothed in His righteousness, except Believe In Him As Our Savior. Galatians 6:14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You that Christ's work is complete and we do not have to keep the Law to please you, but simply trust and believe in You as our Savior. Thank You, in Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There is some false teaching that all members of the human race are children of God and that all men and women are universal sons and daughters of the Almighty. This is not only dangerous but unscriptural, for only the regenerate are made children of God; only those that are saved by grace through faith in Christ are given the right to become children of God: "Even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of human parentage but of the Spirit of God," by grace, through faith. To those that are born of the Spirit and washed in the blood of Christ, God is a gracious Heavenly Father, but to a Christ-rejecting sinful world, God is a righteous Judge. When Scripture is twisted so that the love of God is divorced from the justice of God, we are left with a benevolent old man in the sky or an evil despot who dispenses fire and brimstone at His will. When a distorted gospel is preached and only certain of God's characteristics are accentuated at the expense of the truth, the Church of God is destroyed for the lack of knowledge. It is purely the mercy of God that has pronounced We Are Children Of God, Through Our Faith In Christ. Galatians 3:26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, what abundant grace and abounding mercy has been extended to us, who were once children of Satan, at enmity with God and bound for hell. But in Your grace, You reached down to our sin-soaked lowliness, raised us up from the miry pit and placed our feet on Christ, the Rock of our salvation. Thank You that by faith in Him, we might be called children of God. Praise Your holy name, AMEN. The humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ is as much a reality as His deity. He is as truly Man as He Is Infinitely God. He is eternal in His divinity but born at a point in time into the human race, for a specific purpose. The Lord Jesus was born to become the representative Man, upon Whose shoulders rested the future of humanity and the salvation of the human race. He was sent by the Father to pay the price for the sin of the whole world through His sacrificial death, but He came willingly from His heavenly home in order to become the Head of a new race of mankind, through His resurrected life. Although fully God, the Lord Jesus emptied Himself of His glory and came in the likeness of men. As God incarnate, His human body was knitted together in His mother's womb. He was the eternal Son of God, chosen before the world began to become the Seed of the woman Who would crush the serpent's head and redeem Adam's fallen race. By His death, He paid the price for man's sin and destroyed the power of sin and death in the lives of all who trust in Him, thus becoming the Federal Head of a new creation of humanity. Should we not follow His perfect example and humble ourselves under the hand of God and say as did Christ, 'Thy will not mine be done,' to His praise and glory? Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the reality of Who the Lord Jesus Christ truly is and the realization of what He gave up to become a Man Who humbled Himself to the point of death, even death on a Cross, for our sake, is staggering. Thank You for Your amazing grace and for Your amazing love. We pray that we may humble ourselves under Your mighty hand and learn to say in whatever situation we find ourselves, 'Thy will not ours be done,' to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN. In this passage, the apostle Paul was ministering to 'men and women' in a synagogue in Antioch on a Sabbath day. He read from the Law and the Prophets, quoted from Psalms, and began to teach them the Scriptures. Starting from their slavery in Egypt, he progressed through Jewish history until he reached the ministry of John the Baptist who preached a baptism of repentance to Israel and identified Jesus as: "The Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world." Christ offered these Jewish 'men and women' something that the Law could never provide, the remission of sins and life everlasting. The indestructible life of Christ Jesus, was greater than king David. He was raised from the dead by the almighty power of God and was the perfect Sacrifice for their sin and by faith in Him, redemption would be theirs. This is the gospel that must be preached to the unsaved, that through faith in the Man, Christ Jesus is received the forgiveness of sin. By Grace We Are Saved, Through Faith. We are not saved by works of the Law, but by faith in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of Jesus, the eternal Son of God and sinless Son of Man. Acts 13:38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths that it contains. We pray that we may read its pages with wisdom and understanding. Help us to recognize the different audiences that are being addressed in different Bible passages. Keep us from reading into the Scriptures what we think it is saying, rather than understanding it in its correct context. Help us to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. In His name we Pray, AMEN. The Lord Jesus is the one and only righteous man, Who has ever walked this earth. There are many that attempt to make it into the kingdom through their own ability, education, good works, bank balance, and religiosity. There are many who think that a pious attitude and generous giving is sufficient to grant access into Christ's kingdom. The proud legalists of Christ's day and the self-righteous religious-minded men who commended themselves on keeping the letter of the Law, had missed the whole point of the Old Testament Law and Prophets. They refused to recognize their Messiah. They dismissed His teaching and would not heed the truth from One Who said: "I AM the way; I AM the truth; I AM the life.-No man comes to the Father except through ME." Today there are still proud, legalistic, self-righteous, religious-minded men and women who are blinded to the narrow WAY that leads to life. Matthew 7:14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your grace, You brought us to an understanding that the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life. Use us we pray, in whatever way You choose, to speak the truth in love to those who are on the broad way to destruction, and bring many into Your kingdom this day, we pray. In Jesus' name, AMEN. The Lord had planned in eternity past to implement a new covenant - an unconditional covenant - a unilateral covenant - an eternal covenant, and God used the old covenant as a school-master to point us to Christ Who was appointed to be the testator of the new, unconditional, eternal, and better covenant. Unlike the old covenant, all the conditions to be fulfilled by the new covenant were the responsibility of God alone, implemented with the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. All we have to do is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting, and by His grace we have become ministers of the new and better covenant. The New Covenant was implemented at the Cross for all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in this Church dispensation. It will also become a reality for the nation of Israel on the day, yet future, when they cry: "Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord." On that amazing day they will look on the One Whom they pierced, for He was also wounded for their transgressions, bruised for their iniquities, and shed His blood so that they too would participate in the new and better covenant. Hebrews 9:22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the new and better Covenant that was inaugurated at Calvary’s Cross, knowing that without the shedding of Jesus’ sinless and precious blood there would have been no forgiveness of our sins. How we praise and thank You that Jesus died for us and gave Your Holy Spirit to live Your life in us. Help us to live lives that are holy unto the Lord. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. I am sure when he got up that morning, Zacchaeus did not expect that before long he would be entertaining the Son of God in his own home. As a rich, important, and chief tax-collector, he was an individual who was hated by the Jews, despised by the Romans, and was quite possibly a man who had been a swindler or a thief. But Jesus took time to come to him, to call to him, and to open up for him the path of salvation, for Jesus had come to seek and to save that which was lost. No doubt God had been preparing the heart of this wealthy yet detested tax-collector. God is able to discern the motives of every man, and this meeting with Christ brought a sinner to repentance when confronted with the incomparable perfection of the Son of Man. How different the Lord Jesus was from those critical Jewish leaders, who so readily accused the Lord Jesus of fraternizing with tax-collectors and sinners! But that day, salvation came to the house of Zacchaeus. The Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost. God Still Knows The Hearts Of Men And Women, and He is still seeking and saving those which are lost and bringing salvation to many souls who trust in Him by grace through faith. Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You came to seek and to save lost sinners like us and for the amazing love and grace You have bestowed upon us. Thank You for forgiving our sins, for bringing salvation into our hearts, and for making it Your dwelling place. Keep us humble in heart, meek in spirit, and submissive to Your Holy Spirit, and may we be used to Your greater glory in all we say and do. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The more we learn of God’s Word and come to an understanding of Who God is, what He is doing, and all that He has planned for those that love Him, the more we see an unveiling of His glory upon glory and the more we recognize God's grace upon grace that is daily being showered upon all His blood-bought children. Our risen, ascended, and glorified Savior has saved us to the uttermost. His Saving Grace is not only for the eternal ages to come but will be carried through to its ultimate completion, for He will never abandon any that have trusted in His name as Savior and who have come to Him for pardon and peace. There is no time nor place where His sacrifice of intercession does not reach us, thus underlining His promise: "I will never leave you nor forsake you." The more we learn of God's Word and the wonderful covenant relationship that He has with His Church, the more we discover His showers of blessing and abundant privileges raining down upon our heads and come to an understanding of Who God is, what He is doing, and all that He has planned for those that love Him. The more we see an unveiling of His glory upon glory, the more we recognize God's grace upon grace that is daily being showered upon all His blood-bought children. Surely, we should love to the uttermost the One Who has saved us . Hebrews 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son Who has saved and sanctified us to the uttermost and is daily interceding for us. Praise Your wonderful name. In Jesus' name, AMEN. As Christians, we have been called to personal consecration where our lives are a reflection of Christ and our bodies a living sacrifice to the Lord. It is our spiritual worship and our reasonable service to yield our-lives, our-selves, and our-bodies to the Lord; to consecrate ourselves to Him each day. Day by day, rededication of ourselves to His service is a lifelong program which we need to choose consciously. Transformation does not take place overnight but is dependent on the hidden values of the heart being translated into the active practice of our thoughts and motives. It is a freewill choice to avoid that which is evil and to honor the Lord in beautiful thoughts, beautiful words, and beautiful deeds, by choosing to do what is right and holy. The Holy Spirit alone is that One that implements our inner transformation. He is the One that causes us to be: "Transformed By The Renewing Of Your Mind." He carries out this refining work in the inner recesses of our hearts: "So that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." The evidence of this lovely transfiguring process is not only an outward disassociation from an ungodly world and the works of the world, the flesh, and the devil, but a life that is good, acceptable, perfect and pleasing to the Father - but note that transformation is perfected through trials, difficulties, suffering, and sorrow. Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, too often our minds are deflected from Jesus onto the things of the world, especially when times are difficult, but we want to keep our minds on Christ, knowing that this is Your best will for us. We pray that we become increasingly aware of the Spirit's promptings in our lives, so that day by day, our hearts and minds may become saturated with the Lord Jesus. May His nature be reflected through our actions and attitudes and may our lives be transformed daily, by the renewing of our minds. Help us to prove in our lives what Your will is for us, and may we do only those things that are good, and acceptable and perfect in Your sight, for Your praise and glory, and for the benefit of others. This we ask in the name of Jesus, AMEN. Mankind is so entrapped in sin that unless God draws us, no-one would be saved, but Christ Himself promised that when He was lifted up on the Cross, He would draw all men and women to Himself. This does not mean that all men and women will be saved, for man and woman are given a free-will to choose to accept God's free gift of salvation or to reject His offer of grace, but it does mean that God is doing all He can to save sinful mankind from eternal separation from Himself. God Desires All Men And Women To Be Saved and draws all people to Himself. We would not have had the desire to trust in Him if His Holy Spirit had not spoken to our hearts and drawn us to Himself with cords of love. God will never force His salvation on those who choose to reject Him, but all are given an opportunity to respond to His tug of love on their hearts. Today, the Holy Spirit continues to convict every man and woman of sin and the written Word of God teaches the many spiritual truths that feed our hungry souls. But many prefer to chase after worldly food and the fleeting physical pleasures on earth in preference to spiritual food, life everlasting, and eternal joy with the Lord. John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Word contains all that we need for life and godliness. Thank You that while we were still sinners and dead in our trespasses and sins, Christ died for us, and the Holy Spirit sought us out in love and convicted us of our need of a Savior. Lord, we are looking forward with joyful anticipation for that day when this mortal body will put on immortality, and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The moment that we are born again, we are made a new creation in Christ. The second we are saved we are given a new nature, the resurrected life of Christ within. But also The Holy Spirit Of God comes to dwell in us to teach and train us, to guard and guide us, and He also disciplines, chastens, and corrects our new life in Christ. When our old body tries to carry out the Law through self-effort it tries to reform itself, but this is a self-righteousness that is unacceptable to God. All our righteousness is as filthy rags to Him. Our old sin nature is dead in trespasses and sins and is to remain nailed to the Cross of Christ. It is the new, born again life we received at salvation that must grow. God has given us all that we need for that new life to grow in grace and in a knowledge of Jesus, but we must do it God's way and not our way. We must be clothed in Christ's righteousness and not seek to cover ourselves in self-righteousness. We are to walk in spirit and truth guided by the Holy Spirit, and He will teach and train our new self which is being renewed, day by day, into even greater knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are new creations in Christ. Thank You that old things are done away with and all things have been made new in Him. We pray that we might walk in spirit and truth, submitting to the working of the Holy Spirit so that, day by day, we come to know You more and love You better. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Many scholars only look at this passage as applying to the two roads that lead to heaven and hell and the two destinies that await every member of the human race. The narrow way, which is found by few, is rightly seen as a difficult path which is found by grace through faith in Christ, knowing that He is the only Way to the Father, and He is the only Gate into eternal life. The broad way is therefore identified as the road that the majority of the human race will take and is conversely seen as the easy path which leads to destruction and the fires of hell. But although there is certainly a legitimate application to saved and unsaved people taking the narrow and broad ways respectively, Christ was not teaching about the two destinations of the whole human race (heaven or the lake of fire), but the two alternative routes that Christians are required to choose after they have been justified by grace through faith in Christ. Jesus was teaching His followers that there are Two Ways To Travel through their Christian life: The spiritual gateway; which leads to an abundant and victorious life as we travel through this world where the Lord is glorified in us, or the carnal gateway; where the final result will be loss of reward for a wasted, defeated life where God was dishonored by one of His blood-bought children. Whichever gate a Christian chooses to enter, God is faithful to His eternal promises. Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that in Christ, we have been saved by grace and have an eternal inheritance kept for us in heaven. We pray that we may die daily to all that is of self and live every day of our lives for Christ. Help us to choose to enter the narrow gate of disciplined, dedicated discipleship, which leads to an abundant life here on earth. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Salvation Is By God's Grace Through Our Faith In God's Word. In this Church age, salvation is ours by grace through faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is always a matter of faith, but the way God deals with His servants in different dispensations varies in a number of ways. As Church-age believers, we are members of Christ's Body. We have been born into the kingdom of God by faith; unless we are born again at the age of accountability we cannot see the kingdom of God. Having been born from above, we are part of a spiritual Body. However, our physical bodies, in which the Spirit of God dwells, are used by the Lord to be ministers of reconciliation to a lost and dying world. As part of Christ's Body, we are called to continue His work on earth as He lives in our heart by faith, we are bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh. There are times that we become overly familiar with terms such as 'born again', 'a new creation in Christ', 'made the righteousness of God in Him', etc. But every one of the hundreds of privileges that have become ours by faith in Christ contain a important element, we have been 'blessed with all spiritual blessings' because we are His workmanship and are one with Christ, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand, that we would walk in them. Ephesians 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You that by faith in Christ’s death, burial, and Resurrection, we have become bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh. Please use us as witnesses, testimonies, and ministers of reconciliation, to a lost and dying world. Help us to honor You in all we say and do. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
