The Authority Of Christ's Prayer to the Father, rests on the authority of His position as Incarnate Deity, and the other Helper Whom the Father would send would be the Spirit of Truth. The third Person of the Holy Trinity, Who would be with them forever and eventually would permanently indwell each one. The Holy Spirit of God, Who was sent at Pentecost, was to be this other Helper. He was to be the 'Paraclete' - the 'Advocate' - the One Whom the Father would send to be alongside Christ's little band of frightened followers every moment of the day and throughout the darkness of each long night. For the past 2000 years, the Holy Spirit is to all who have trusted Christ as Savior, what Christ Himself had been to His little band of faithful followers: our Helper, Advocate, Comforter, and Paraclete. He is with us forever and abides within our hearts forevermore. John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that You sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper, to come alongside us in every difficult situation that we may have to face in this life. Thank You that He is with us and in us, to lead and to guide us. Help us to listen to His voice and submit to His directions, day by day. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.

This parable reminds us of a truth that all believers would do well to recognize, which is the Holy Spirit equips us all with gifts, talents, abilities, and works which God has foreordained that we should do. The Spirit chooses to empower all believers in a way that is unique and special to each one of us. He equips us to carry out His perfect will in each of our lives if and when we are willing to Submit To His Guidance, as we walk in spirit and truth, as we abide in Christ, and let Him live His perfect new life-in-Christ in us. The 'loss' mentioned here most certainly does not refer to a loss of salvation, for the gifts and calling of God will never be revoked and our eternal life is a gift that can never, ever be taken away. But we need to understand that those who use their God-given gifts and abide in Christ, by humbly submitting to the Holy Spirit, will be given even more. BUT those who do not use their God-given gifts, or who undertake works in the power of their fleshly nature, will quench (or grieve) the Holy Spirit with their conduct, and even the little they have will be taken away from them at the believer's judgement seat of Christ. Let us all live in spirit and truth so that we bring forth fruit, more fruit, much fruit, to the glory of God the Father. Luke 19:26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. Our United Prayer:
Loving Lord, thank You for the gifts, talents, abilities, and works which You have prepared for us to do. May they increase, enlarge, and overflow in abundance, as we seek to live our lives in spirit and truth. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
