This thirteenth chapter is considered by many to be the supreme treaties on love, and indeed as we read through this passage that is beloved by many, we discover that only the name 'JESUS' could easily be substituted throughout for the word 'LOVE'. And justifiably so. Jesus is patient, Jesus is kind. Jesus does not envy, and Jesus is not boastful nor conceited. Jesus is not rude nor does He insist in His own way. Jesus is neither irritable nor resentful, and Jesus does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but He rejoices with the truth, He is the Truth. Only in and through Jesus are we able to bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, and endure all things. When we consider this passage, take a deeper look in the significance of its true meaning, and pray that Christ may be formed in us so that we are enabled to love as He loves. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, develop in us the godly fruit of love. May we live in love and seek to love as Christ loved. Keep us from envy of others and boastfulness. Lord give us all patience and lead us to be kind to all. May the love of Jesus be seen in and through us, by the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The Lord Jesus in His humanity is the visible revelation of the invisible God. This is a great mystery, but it is a truth that has been given to us from the Creator of the universe. The only way for sinful humanity to be reconciled to a holy God is through the shed blood of the eternal Son of God, Who died to pay the price for our sins so that we might be covered with His righteousness and reconciled back to the Father. Christ is the firstborn over all creation because as the eternal Son of God He was born into our race as the perfect Son of Man. The incarnate Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us making Him first in significance and first in status. Jesus Christ is first in importance over all God's creation, and at the name of Jesus every knee will bow for all creation is subject to His authority, and He died so that we might live. The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that You sent Your only begotten Son into the world, which He made, to become one of us so that we might be reconciled back to Yourself and become children of God and joint-heirs with Christ, Who is the firstborn over all creation and before Whom we bow in worship and praise forever and ever, AMEN. There are many verses in scripture come back to the foundational truth that God knows best and wants us to trust Him in all things and at all times. He made the world and governs the universe, and is never phased nor astonished at what is going on in the world at large, nor the troubling circumstances that are happening in the individual lives of His children. This verse is a simple, yet timely reminder, that we are to live by faith in the Word of Truth, and to trust God's judgement in all things, He sends blessings on the just and unjust alike, and He takes the foolish schemes and rebellious actions of men and turns them to His greater glory, in order to fulfil His ultimate plan and purpose. To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that You know the end from the beginning and that everything under heaven is within Your authority. Thank You, that You are in control of all that is happening in our lives and the wider world in general. May we trust You through all the circumstances of life and as we seek Your face in prayer and praise, may we learn more and more to pray, "Thy will be done in our lives and throughout the world." In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. God in His mercy, grace, justice, and love sent His Son to pay the penalty of every sin committed by everyone. The wages of sin is death BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, as we read: "If the Lord should mark our iniquities, who could stand?" But there is true forgiveness, eternal forgiveness with our Father, through Jesus Christ the Son, that the Lord may be worshipped and glorified for ever and ever. If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? Our United Prayer:
Nothing in our hands we bring, simply to Thy Cross we cling. Thank You, Father, for sending Jesus to pay the shocking price for our sins, His own life-blood shed for us. Thank You that in Him, we have forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. We offer this prayer to you in the name of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, AMEN. When God had finished His six days of creation, He rested on the seventh day Saturday. However, due to man's sin God had to begin another work – the work of redemption, which is the work that will one day be fully and finally completed when Christ is all in all. Those who choose to do so are at perfect liberty to worship on the Sabbath, and those who choose to worship on a Sunday are also at liberty to do so, but neither are legal requirements for Christians in this Church age, and we are not to judge those who DO or those who do NOT. We are saved by grace through faith and expected to adhere to the instructions issued in God's Word. We are encouraged to meet together for instruction and fellowship – but as believers, Who have trusted Christ for salvation have found our rest in HIM. Our relationship with the Father depends on faith and not of the following of rules and regulations. Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are not bound by religious laws and legalistic practices, but have been made a new creation in Christ. He is our Sabbath rest, not only during our time on earth, but in the eternal ages to come. Thank You that we are not bound by the burdensome rules and regulations of the Law, but have recognized that the Law was a tool You used to point sinners to Jesus Christ. In Christ, we find true rest and refreshment as we abide in Him and He in us. May we worship You in spirit and truth every day of the week, and may we take every opportunity to meet with other believers as we worship You together and enjoy Christian fellowship in our Churches and Chapels. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. |
