Whether you stand gazing at the deep midnight-blue sky where a multitude of shimmering diamond-studded stars are twinkling overhead or whether you pick up an authoritative journal that outlines the staggering dimensions and design of the Milky Way, the innumerable numbers of other gigantic galaxies or countless number of stars that are visible to the human eye, you can do little more than wonder about Our Astonishing Creator Who, at a moment before time began and in a place before space was created, spoke the world into being. While the Lord set the sun and moon in place to govern the day and the night, it was man who was made in the image of God who was ordained to rule over the earth as God's appointed regent. God created man to have dominion over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, the cattle, and over all the earth and every creeping thing that creep upon the earth. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we stand amazed when we consider the insignificance of humans in the context of the splendors of the extended universe, and yet, You loved us so much that You gave Your only begotten Son to pay the price for our sins. For this we give You eternal praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The day of grace is still open for all who will trust in Him for salvation, but the day of reckoning is fast approaching when our enemies will realize the folly of their ways and will suddenly become ashamed. No matter how desperate our circumstances may be, and despite being encircled by those who hate us, abuse us, and say all manner of evil against us falsely, we can call on the name of the Lord and know that He Hears Our Prayers and cares for all His children. God does not always remove the painful circumstances in this life, but, He will give us the strength to come through victoriously, and by His grace will give us a deeper knowledge and understanding of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the book of Psalms which provides such encouragement and hope when we find ourselves immersed in sorrow and pain, or being mocked and abused by those who despise us. Help us to submit to You, resist the devil, and maintain our hope in Christ. We know that the time is fast approaching when You will right all wrongs and judge the world in righteousness. Search our hearts, we pray, and show us if there is any sin that needs to be confessed. Thank You that we have the strength to come through every circumstance of life victoriously, when we keep our eyes on Jesus and maintain our faith in His unchanging Word. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN. Satanic accusations against the goodness and grace of God are still being whispered into the ears of believers today as we, like Job, continue to be compassed about by many forms of suffering and misfortune, persecution and pain, destitution and danger, heart-aches and affliction, the sword and a martyrs death. But in His strength, We Must Stand Firm on the solid truth of Scripture, trusting without wavering on the inerrant Word of God, rejecting the enemy's ploys that cause us to doubt God's precious promises, while rejecting anything contrary to the glorious truth of the gospel of grace. In Christ, we too can prove the wicked allegations against the goodness of God to be fictitious and false so that like Job we can bring honor to His name and be able to declare: My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for this amazing insight into Your person and character. Help us, in the power of Your Spirit, to stand fast in the evil days, resist the wiles of the enemy, and the accusations of Satan. Help us stand firm on the unchangeable Word of truth, to hear You speak to us from Your Word, and to see You more clearly as we search the Scriptures. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. When we are encompassed by our enemies, ill in body, distressed in mind, and spiritually sapped, we should remember that the many precious promises of God to all His children, are 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ. And let us never forget that IN HIM we have access to the heavenly throne of grace for mercy to find help in time of need. But we need to approach Him reverently, prayerfully, and with confidence that He Hears And Answers Prayer. Our prayers and supplications should be done with a heart of praise and thanksgiving, a heart that not only trusts Him to keep His WORD, but a heart ready to say: "Thy will not mine be done." The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a God that hears and answers prayer. Help us to look to You to supply all our needs, according to Your riches in glory. Keep us from looking at the circumstances of life, but let us look to Christ, our Lives and our Healer, our Shield and our Defender, our Hope and our Salvation. And we pray that we never take Your precious promises for granted, but give You the reverence and glory due to Your name. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. It was once said that the Son of God is revealed TO us by the teaching of men, but the Son of God is revealed IN us by the illumination of the Holy Spirit. This was the thrilling outcome of Job's encounter with God and this is the lesson of faith and trust that God desires for all His children to understand; that God Can Do Anything and God has the right to do whatsoever He will, and nothing that He plans and purposes is impossible, for He alone is God. “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Our United Prayer:
Dear Father God, when we look at the heavens and the wonderful works that You have made, what is man that You are mindful of us and yet You chose us - You chose us to be Your children. Let us live in humble submission to the leading of Your Spirit, knowing that in us dwells no good thing. I know that You can do all things and nothing that You plan is impossible. Thank You, in Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. None of us are exempt from the trials, tribulations, and temptations of life, nor are we immune to the disappointments, discouragements, and dangers that we may meet. But we all have the choice to become a man or woman after God's own heart by trusting Him in every eventuality of life, by beginning each day in prayer and praise, and by engaging in ongoing fellowship with our Father in heaven. The consequences of living in a sinful world are pain and sorrow, but from the time that we wake until the moment our head touches the pillow in the night-time hours, we have a choice to Seek The Lord In All Things and to submit to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us choose to walk in spirit and truth all the days of our life, to depend on the Lord from morning 'til night, to submit our lives to the guidance of the Spirit of God, and to pray: "Lead me in Your righteousness; make Your way straight before my face." Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make your way straight before me. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, lead us in Your righteous ways, for we have many enemies and some who wish us evil. Make Your way straight before our faces, we pray, and may Your will not mine be done, to Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Elements of the infinite knowledge and eternal wisdom of Almighty God are laid out in a few chapters in the book of Job, and a reading of God's creative power and almighty wisdom, confronts each one of us with our own insignificance and limited understanding, as it did with Job. None of us have a right to know God's plans and purposes or to question His sovereign ways, and yet he has laid out His entire redemption plan in the Bible. He has scheduled every day of every life and He knows what is best for each one of us. This simple verse makes it very clear that we can Trust Him With Our Lives and our families, even when we do not understand. May we be willing to acknowledge our own limitation and trust Him in every eventuality of our lives. “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, it is very humbling to realize that Your wisdom and understanding is infinite and unknowable and yet, in Your grace, You have shared Your plan of redemption with Your fallen creatures. Father, when we don't understand the difficulties we are going through in our own lives, we pray that we may trust You in all things and never doubt Your perfect plans and purposes. We know that You are sovereign and Your way is best. Help us to live by faith and not by sight. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Too often, we have a perception of how God will answer our prayers and when our petitions should be answered, but God's Ways Are Not Always Our Ways and His timings do not always coincide with our eager expectations. But His way and His timings are always the best for each life, He knows the way we should take. Let us reflect the prayer-life of David, who was an example of a man who prayed regularly, systematically, faithful and expectantly, and who cried, In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercies which are new every morning. Help us to be regular, systematic, orderly, and faithful in our prayer-lives. May we come into Your presence with joyful expectation, knowing that You are a God Who hears and answers prayers in Your own way and in Your own time. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. God's attributes speak for themselves and God needs no human witness to defend His cause or character, His words or His actions, nor is God obliged to answer our petulant and foolish questions as to why and how and when and what and who… God's character speaks for itself, and God's Word is His own witness to truth. And though we may not understand, we would do well not to speak for God in our ignorance, nor unwittingly accuse God due to our lack of understanding. Rather, let us Listen To God and sit at His feet so as to gain a deeper knowledge of God and closer walk with Him - for: “God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, too often we try to speak for You in ignorance and even attempt to defend You or advise You, when we actually need to quietly sit at Your feet and listen. Give us a teachable spirit, we pray, and draw us into closer and more intimate communion with Yourself. May you be exulted in our lives. In Jesus' name, AMEN. Do we love the Giver even more that the gracious gifts that He has poured in abundance to us? Do we seek the Lord Himself in preference to the multiplied blessings and precious promises that are ours, by grace through faith in Christ? Do we unreservedly confess our dependence upon the Lord and unconditionally acknowledge Him to be sovereign in our life? Do we cast all our cares on Him? Do we Lie Down In Peace and sleep secure in the knowledge that He is in control? The Lord will always protect ALL His children. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we have scarce scratched the surface of Your grace and goodness toward us, in that You sent Your only begotten Son to die on the Cross to pay the punishment that we deserve. Our love is poor and weak, and our thoughts and prayers are too often motivated from selfish desires and a lack of understanding of Who You are and what You have done for us. Increase our desire and love for You, and help us to become "people after God's own heart" desiring You above all things. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We who have trusted Christ as our Savior, have received the Holy Spirit of power by grace through faith in Christ. He has brought about our adoption into son-ship, and through Him we are enabled to cry, as we boldly approach the throne of grace, for mercy to find help in time of need. When we are looking to Jesus, and when the eyes of our heart are firmly fixed upon Him, we have a confidence in the promises of His Word, His Word is true and His promises stand fast forever and ever. Jesus reminded us: "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. I Will Never Leave You Nor Forsake You and lo I am with you always - even to the very end of the age." I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the increasing violence and wickedness in this world and the terrors that seem to increasingly stalk our paths, have too often caused us to divert our attention onto our mounting problems, instead of looking to Jesus and trusting Your Word. Thank You that no matter what happens in this world, You have promised to be with us. You are our Provider and Protector, our Defense and Defender. Thank You for the Holy Spirit and Your peace that passes understanding, where we can rest in Your love and praise Your holy name. And thank You that we have been brought into Your family, by grace through faith in Jesus. In His name we pray, AMEN. When we understand that the will of God is to rid each of His children of all the accumulated clutter of our lives and burn away all that is of me, myself, and I, we are better equipped to face the affliction in the knowledge that the tests and trials that we are facing are but for a moment: "And when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Job was a man that knew his God and trusted His Word, even though he did not understand why the furnace appeared to be heated seven times hotter. Like Job, we may not understand the divine purpose behind the cruel trials that we are obligated to bear, but His Word reminds us that God knows the plans He has for each of our lives – plans for good and not for evil. Let us Trust His Word Of Truth, knowing that when He has tested us in His furnace of affliction, we WILL come forth as pure gold. But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we don’t understand all that is going on in our lives, but our times are in Your hands and so are the circumstances of those that we love. Thank You that all we face is under the shadow of Your protection. We pray that when w have been tried, we too will come forth as gold. We pray that we will trust in Your unfailing love and not be afraid. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The Lord Jesus Christ is portrayed as The Unique Son Of God Who was chosen before the foundation of the world to be the sinner's Savior. He offered His life as the sacrifice for sin and died to pay the price for the sin of the whole world. By His Resurrection from the dead, the only begotten Son of God received His Father's stamp of approval and was given complete authority in heaven and on earth. His sacrificial blood is indeed, on ALL who believe in Christ for salvation and trust His Word. And for a time... the kingdom of God, which was promised to Israel, has had to be postponed while the Lord calls out of the Gentiles a people for His name - who would proclaim the gospel of grace far and wide and make disciples of every nation. Christ offered His life as the sacrifice for the sin of the whole world and died to pay the price for our transgressions.. By faith in His name, we too will live with Him forever. Praise His holy name. I will proclaim the LORD’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You purposed to redeem mankind through Your sacrifice and decreed that the eternal Son of God would be born into the human race as the perfect Son. Thank You that He took the punishment for our sins so that by faith in Him, we also might be adopted into Your family and become people of the living God. Thank You that the day is coming, when He will be proclaimed King of Kings and Lord of Lords in His everlasting kingdom. Thank You that we are part of Your eternal family and that Christ is our Savior, in Whose name we pray, AMEN. Job was able to say with authority: "I know in Whom I have believed; I know that my Redeemer lives; I know that all the plans and promises of God will one day be fully realized." Job KNEW. Job had an assurance that what God had said, God would perform. Job's trust in God was a definitive 'knowing' and our faith in Him can also be an authoritative 'knowing' our trust stands on the unshakable facts within the Word of God. Like Job, we too can say with authority, I KNOW in Whom I believe. I KNOW That My Redeemer Lives. How blessed we are to be able to say with authority that we KNOW that He is coming back for his children and will set up His everlasting kingdom, to the praise and glory of God the Father. How blessed are the ones that KNOW their God. I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. Our United Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father, what a wonderful declaration to fall from the lips of Job: "We know that our Redeemer lives." Thank You for the truth of Your Word and the wonderful illustrations of real people who trusted You, no matter what. Thank you that You are our Redeemer. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
