The LORD is my strength and my shield,". His grace and strength is sufficient... He is the all-powerful God. "My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped,". He has promised to be with us in every situation of life... and all God wants from us is to trust His Word, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and hold fast to His many precious promises. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, but those who put their trust in Him will never be disappointed. " My heart leaps for joy, "and with my song I Praise Him." There is something very edifying and encouraging in glorifying God and singing praises to Him... even when faced with problems and pain, it not only lifts our hearts and give hope to our souls, but causes us to trust Him in our helplessness and gives great glory to our Father in heaven. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, what comfort and joy all Your children gain from Your precious Word, and we thank You that You are our strength and our Shield. Our hearts trust in You, and we praise and thank You for the help and comfort we received, through faith in Christ Jesus our Savior. Thank You that Your ear is ever open to the cries of Your people. Help us take every thought captive to Christ, when circumstances arise that would otherwise overwhelm us and cause us to fear. The joy of the Lord is our strength, therefore our hearts are grateful in thanks and eternal praise, AMEN. The wise are the ones that pursue peace and speak the truth in love, while the tragedy is that those who wallow in interpersonal war and chase after conflict have their roots in sin and self. But praise God, that when we recognize that the good we want to do in the spirit is opposed by the evil that we want to carry out in the lusts of the flesh, we have an answer!! Jesus Christ is the one who can separate us from this body of sin and death and its suffocating power over us. He not only paid-the-penalty for our sin but broke-the-power of sin in our lives - and has promised that His grace is sufficient for all the battles that we may have to face in this body of flesh. What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that 'in-Christ' we have the sufficient grace and power through Him to overcome the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for all our needs, our sufficiency is in Christ alone. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN. Don't be worried about the things connected to your life is Christ's clear command. Don't fret about what you are going to eat or what you will drink, and don't be concerned for your body, as to what you will wear, were the comforting words of Jesus to His people. If the birds of the air and the flowers of the field are fed and clothed so beautifully, don't you think that your Heavenly Father is able to supply all your needs? - were Christ's reassuring words. God knows that worry entraps the heart and fear fractures faith, which can cause a believer to spiral down into a pit of despair. BUT He also knows that we have daily needs, and has given many precious promises throughout Scripture that He will be the Provider for all the needs and the Supplier of all the necessities of life – if we will trust in Him. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we know that too often a lack of faith in Your promises of provision, have caused us to seek after the things of this world on our own. We confess this is a lack of faith in You. From now on, may we seek Your kingdom and righteousness first, knowing that You are our great Provider. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Let us take to heart the shocking context of this verse and recognize what Paul is teaching us here that there is none good , not even one, and that trying to keep rules and laws is not what justifies us in the eyes of God but believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as our sin-substitute. Being doers of the law is rooted in faith in God and Jesus Christ Whom He sent to pay the price for our sins. For whoever believes in Him is JUSTIFIED in the eyes of God but whoever does not believe on Him is not justified, but remains condemned - through time and into eternity. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word of truth. Help me us cease from our own strivings by trying to produce works of righteousness, which You have said in Your Word can never justify us in Your sight. Help us to see clearly that the work that You require of us is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and that being a 'doer of the word' is to trust in Him, Who alone can justify the lost sinners and Who alone is the Justifier of all who believe. Help us to see that being 'doers of the word' is not carrying out works of the flesh or trying to adhere to works of the law, but refers to the one Who believes in Christ for salvation - knowing that by faith in Him and not by works of the law that we are justified .. and that it is our faith that is credited to us as righteousness, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. When we have wronged another person we are called to go to them quickly and admit our sin and seek their forgiveness, for this is the will of God for us. We are also called to willingly, graciously, and fervently pray for each other, for as we lift up those who may have wronged us to the Lord in prayer, the fellowship of His love will stream into our hearts and minds, removing any nagging bitterness or residue of unforgiveness. We are called to be holy for God is holy, but it is only as we confess our sins to one another and to our Father in heaven, that fellowship is renewed and our prayers become effective. It is only as we abide in Him and walk godly in Christ Jesus that we are enabled to pray in spirit and truth: "And the effective prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we desire to maintain fellowship with You and to walk godly in Christ Jesus. Help us to recognize our faults and quickly seek Your forgiveness. Help us also to confess our faults to those we have wronged, and we pray that we maintain an attitude of prayer and learn to pray fervently in spirit and truth so that in Christ our prayers may be effective and avail much, to Your honor and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Only a believer can please God. We please God when we are justified (initial salvation), but we also please God through a sanctified life (ongoing salvation). It is ONLY through Christ's imputed righteousness can we please God, "for without faith it is impossible to please Him." But once we are saved we are to please Him by living by faith. Once we have believed in God's saving grace through faith in Christ, we are also to believe that, "He rewards those that seek Him," as stated in Scripture. There is rejoicing in heaven when a sinner believes, but we truly please Him when we LIVE by faith. We please Him when we are not being influenced by life's problematic circumstances. If we desire to please our Heavenly Father, we are to LIVE by faith and not by sight. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we realize how quickly and easily we can move from trusting You to doubting Your Word, when things do not go the way that we expect. We pray that like the men and women of faith Hebrews, our trust in You will not falter. Help us to earnestly seek You day by day, we know that only as Christ lives in and through us, by faith, can we be pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, AMEN. The Lord Jesus not only died to pay the price FOR us our sins, but He also died AS us and in the place of us. They were OUR sins, but He bore the punishment for us so that we would never need to be punished for them. As the sinless Son of Man, He paid the full burden-weight of the accumulated sins of the whole world, past, present, and future, and He also identified with all who would believe on Him so that we might reckon ourselves dead TO those sins as we live our Christian lives. Everyone who would ever trust in Jesus as Savior is considered by God to be His seed, His spiritual seed, and while the Lord Jesus walked this earth we were reckoned to be IN Christ so that when He died, we died IN Him "so that we might die to those sins and live righteously." “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus died to pay the price for our sins so that we too may live lives that are dead to sin and alive to Christ. Thank You that Jesus took the full force of the wrath of God in His body on the tree so that we might die to those sins and live righteously in Christ Jesus. we pray in Jesus' precious name, AMEN. Jeremiah was faithful in delivering the Word of the Lord to the people of Israel, despite his message being rejected by the masses. Yet Jeremiah trusted God's promises. He was part of a little remnant of committed believers and cried out for healing and deliverance. Like Jeremiah, we are called to be faithful in the work that God has given us to do. We are not to become discouraged if our life appears mundane or our ministry seems unfruitful. Like Jeremiah, we are called to be faithful to the point of death and we will receive healing, deliverance, and the eternal reward that God has prepared for those that love and trust Him. Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for teaching us your plans and purposes for mankind and Your goodness and grace toward us. May we learn from our mistakes and be guided into godly living. Thank You that You can be trusted to fulfil Your promises to Your people and to correct us when we go astray. We pray that we would be faithful in the work You have given for us to do, and thank You that in You is healing, wholeness, hope, and joy, for You are our God and are worthy of all praise, AMEN. Too often in life, we discover the folly of opening our mouth and responding in careless haste to the words and actions of others, and too often we react in annoyance or anger only to discover that we had misunderstood the facts of the matter, causing us to regret that we spoke so quickly and reacted so hastily. If our words and actions are to be seasoned with salt and honoring to our Father, we should especially be quick to hear the words of wisdom that come from the Scriptures and to be wise in our response to God's voice. Sometimes we may not like what we hear, and sometimes believers have been known to argue with God and become angry at His Word, but the wise man or woman will be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, particularly in the things of the Lord. My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, Our United Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the wise instructions it contains. We know that having a quick temper and easily becoming angry does not benefit us or those around us and does not glorify You. Help us to put into practice the wise words of Psalm 15: "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word, stirs up anger." Help us to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. There are many places in Scripture that remind us that the cares and concerns of this world can become a burdensome load in our lives. 'Independence' proudly proclaims that it has built up a range of coping strategies and self-help skills to deal with all the stresses and strains of life, while 'Pride' arrogantly announces that it is well-able to go it alone - but the Word of God paints a very different picture. We have been told by the Lord that we cannot manage our daily problems on our own, and this is a severe blow to our self-ego and fleshly-pride, which is rooted in the old sin nature. We are told that strength will be freely given, when we admit our weaknesses and inabilities, and we are charged to hand over all our cares and disappointments to the Lord, Who has promised to bear all our burdens because of His loving-kindness and tender mercy towards us. Never doubt the integrity and truth of God's Word, what He has promised He will fulfill. May we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt us at the proper time - and cast ALL our anxiety on Him, because He cares for each one of His blood-bought children. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we confess that for too long, we have depended on our own sufficiency and tried to work out our own problems in our own strength... but we thank You, God, that You care so much for us that we can cast all our burdens on You and give You all the hurts, disappointments, and worries, that seem to be flooding our lives today. Thank You that we have the sure knowledge that You have promised to carry every anxiety and pain. we admit, dear Father, that we are weak in ourselves, but praise You that we can draw on Your amazing strength today and in the days that lie ahead. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Legalistic rules about giving, together with the unbiblical 'word of faith' movement and its prosperity teaching has given Christians an unbiblical focus, dishonored the gospel of grace, and brought Christianity into disrepute. Legalism and prosperity teachings has placed many into bondage under unbiblical, man-made rules. It has twisted the truth of Scripture and dishonored the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The principles and promises that are connected with true, biblical giving, identifies cheerful giving as an obedient, generous heart and a beautiful Christian grace that brings blessings to others and glory to our Father in heaven. The motives that should be behind all Christian giving- Each one must give according to what he or she has decided and in accordance with their means, and not in compliance with legalistic rules, selfish motives, or in response to a false preacher's greedy distortion of biblical giving Perhaps we should all examine the hidden motives of our heart as we give of our time, our money, our skill, and our talents, to see if our hearts are filled with joy and grateful thanks for all that Christ has done for us - or if we are still using our Christian giving in response to legalist bondage, selfish motives, or for any other unbiblical purpose. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us all things richly to enjoy and that everything we have comes from You. May we never be under the illusion that we can out give Your over-abounding gift of grace, in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. May wee give faithfully, cheerfully, and generously of our time, our talents, and our money. May the motive behind our giving be pure and ever open to Your scrutiny. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. God has promised to go before us, to lead us and prepare the way we take, even when we let Him down. He has promised to be with us on our journey through life and to stay with us through all the circumstances of life - even during those times when we prove faithless. God has promised never to leave us alone and one day, He will take us with Himself forever. God's Word is to be trusted. God's Word is as trustworthy today as it was in the times of Moses. Let us never be afraid or discouraged, we have God's assurance that He will not leave us nor forsake us - and let us never forget that God's Word is to be trusted. Praise God, that even when we are weak and our faith fails, He remains faithful, His Word is true and He remains faithful, He cannot deny Himself. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the truth that is contained in the Scriptures. Sometimes we wish we could see the glory or be led by a pillar of fire, but we understand that today we live by faith in Your Word and not by sight. Thank You for Your promises to be with us, to lead and to guide us, to protect us, and supply all our needs, according to Your riches in glory. We praise Your holy name that Your Word is true! Glory be to Your holy name, in Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The world in which we live is a fallen world; a place of sufferings and trials, a time of heartaches and problems; a life of difficulties and sickness, and a season of disappointments and death. Afflictions and anguish stalk our path like a hungry pack of wolves and they are no respecter of persons or position, clime or creed, wise or foolish, young or old, believer or unbeliever. If this were all that life offered to humanity, we would indeed be the most miserable of species, we would remain dead in trespasses and sins, without God and without any hope in the world. Suffering and all its aggressive associates pale into blinded insignificance when placed in their correct eternal perspective, when laid alongside the truth of the gospel and the glory that shines forth from its eternal pages, they are not even worthy to be considered in the same breath as our reality in Christ and our eternal heavenly future. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for Your wonderful words of wisdom in Scripture. May we become so firmly grounded in the truth of Your Word and the glory that it reveals, that we can place the sufferings of this present time in their correct perspective. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Those that are to become His children are to be equally one with Him. Just as He is one with the Father, we are to be one IN Christ. We are born of the Holy Spirit and made one with Him, we are a new creature in Christ. As the shadow of the Cross loomed closer, Jesus prayed that all those who were to one day become part of His Body would be one with Him and one with each other: "May they be completely one, just as we are one." Just as Christ's life witnessed of His oneness and unity with the Father, so His prayer for you and me is that our lives are to be one with Him and in unity with each other "so that the world may know that You sent Me and that You have loved them as you loved Me." I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, unite Your children in the bond of love and fellowship with Yourself so that those that are Your children may abide in You and You in us. May we be true witnesses to the world of Your great salvation. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We have the mind of Christ; to think as He did, to speak as He did, to live as He did, and to behave as He did. And so individually and collectively, we have the means to walk and live and pray in spirit and truth. If we, as children of God, have received His goodness and grace, comfort and hope, we are to maintain the same goodness, grace, comfort, and love, and be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace. The challenge to all believers is to faithfully and committedly develop a Christlike character, demonstrating the same love that He displayed. We are to be united in spirit and fervent in love, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Let us all be diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, with all our brothers and sisters in Christ. May the patience, humility, gentleness, and love we show to each other be known to all, as together we draw near to God. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray that we may show forth the grace of Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, in thoughts, words, and deeds. May we keep the unity of the Spirit with all our brothers and sisters in Christ so that we may honor Your name through our earthly witnesses. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
