PRAYING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY
The Bible gives some serious warnings about living in the last days. As the time for Christ's return for His church draws ever closer we are warned to be clear-minded and self-controlled. We are exhorted to be sober in deed and watchful in prayer. We are to have fervent love for one another knowing that love covers a multitude of sins and we are to extend gracious hospitality to all those with whom we come in contact - and to do it without complaining. Christians are given spiritual gifts to fulfil a special function within the body of Christ. Each member receives at least one spiritual gift and Peter calls us to be good stewards of all we receive from the Lord. Our gifts differ according to the grace God gives to each of us, and we are instructed to exercise them in accordance with the proportion of faith we have received. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit and for the spiritual gifts that we have been given by Your goodness and grace. We pray that we may be diligent to use the gifts and graces that have been given to us for the benefit of the body of Christ and for Your greater praise and glory - this we ask in Jesus name, AMEN. We are blessed to have a God Who understands what it is to be human, and yet He is God Almighty Who formed us in our mother's womb and is with us always, no matter what we are going through. In this verse, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Who understands our humanity, reminds us of His power and authority: "The Alpha and the Omega, Who was and Who is and Who is to come, the Almighty." No matter what we face in life, we can be assured that Jesus is always with us and that He is in control. When we are struggling in our walk with Christ, it is important to remember that Jesus is the source of our strength. He is our Rock and our Refuge; He is our Strength and Shield; He is our Defense and our Defender; He is our Good Shepherd; He is King of kings and Lord of lords. Don't be afraid, but rather let's put our trust in Him and rely on Him for our strength and guidance. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and He will never leave us nor forsake us. Praise His holy name. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Our United Prayer:
Great are You, O Lord, and greatly to be praised. There is no end to Your greatness and in awe and wonder, we praise You. In Jesus' name, AMEN. This great city of Jerusalem is precious to our Father in heaven, this is where the beloved Son of God honored His Father's will and broke the power of sin, death, and Satan - winning the greatest victory the world will ever know - through His sacrificial offering of Himself. This is the city in which Jesus rose from the dead in power and great glory, and ascended into heaven where He is seated on His Father's throne, waiting for the day when He will return in power and great glory to set up His earthly kingdom for 1000 years. Yes, Jerusalem and its inhabitants are close to the heart of God, and we read in verses 5-6 that the Lord Himself will establish the inhabitants of Jerusalem and those that live within her walls, when Jesus returns as the King of Peace and Righteousness to set up His Millennial Kingdom. And in verse 7 we read, As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for this reminder of the Holy City of Jerusalem which is called by Your name. And thank for Your amazing plan of redemption that You have shown us. Thank You that Jesus is the Living Water of life, that all our springs of joy are in Him, and for the gift of salvation and promise of eternal life through Him. Help us to live in a manner that reflects Your love and peace. We ask that You make us as vessels of Your grace and love, and that we may share the gospel with those who are in need of Your forgiveness and hope. May Your presence fill our hearts with joy and praise, and may all our springs of joy be in You. we ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen. While the unconfessed sin of a believer will always break fellowship with the Lord and all sin has consequences, it should never be assumed that a man's sin is the cause for the trials he is facing. Although this is often taught in churches, and is, in general what sinners and saints believe, it is not scriptural. Trials are not necessarily linked with personal sin, which is why the Lord Jesus warned us not to judge others. Judgement is the singular responsibility of the Lord. How easy it is for us to judge others falsely. How quickly we can make assumptions about other believers rather than leaving God to be the judge of others inner hearts and others outer actions. May we abstain from any destructive criticism of our fellow people and leave God to work His perfect work in the lives of all - without our attempt to judge or correct. We have no right to point a finger of accusation at anyone and pass judgement on the circumstances of their lives. May the words of our mouth, the actions of our lives, the meditation of our heart, and the motives behind all we do and be acceptable to the Lord. Our rock and our Redeemer. Is not your reverence your confidence? And the integrity of your ways your hope? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we realize how easy it is to pass false judgements on others and confess that are are too ready to accuse others of wrong-doing, when someone's words and actions do not line up with our own moral code and our limited understanding. Keep us from any critical thoughts of others, and we pray that the words of our mouths, the actions of our lives, the meditation of our hearts, and the motives behind all we are is acceptable to You. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. As a result of our new birth, we are united in Him by faith, and all who are truly united together with Christ have been baptised into His Body. All who are positioned in Christ died to sin when Jesus died on the Cross. But as a member of His Body, we are not only grafted into His death but also are joined together with Him in His resurrected life. We are united in life with our resurrected Lord. His death became our death, but His resurrected life became our new, resurrected life - a life which is everlasting. Day by day we should desire a relational closeness with Jesus as we acknowledge Him in 'all' our ways. And when the Word of God says honor Him in 'all' things... it means to draw close to Him with a focused, undivided heart all the time and in every situation. Jesus is the One who removes the obstacles on the roadside and He is the One Who bring you to your appointed goal... for the all-seeing God is the One Who has promised in all things to "direct your paths and to lead You in the way of righteousness." For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are united with Christ in the likeness of His death, and that His life has become our lives – through time and into eternity. Thank You for directing our lives every step of the way, as we follow you. Guide us today and direct our hearts and minds into the love of Christ, and draw us into a closer intimacy with Yourself. We trust You to do all things well, and we praise You for Your goodness and grace. In the name of Jesus, AMEN. |
