Although we are unable to control the attitude of others towards ourselves, we are to deal with situations in a most biblical manner. None of us can prevent another person from despising us or expressing contempt towards us, but we are to be responsible for the way that we react to any negative attitude others may show towards us. In every area of life, we are to demonstrate the same, spiritual maturity in the way we live, the words we speak, the things we do, and the way we react to others in these difficult and challenging times. Our behavior, attitude, actions, and motives should be pure and holy, and should demonstrate the godly wisdom that only comes from above. Let us all Seek To Display Godly Characteristics in our lives and have a teachable spirit that seeks to honor the Lord in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, and may we show ourselves to be a godly example of those who around us daily. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom and instruction that we gain from tis verse in Timothy. May we look to Jesus, day by day, and stand firm in the faith, holding fast to the truth of the gospel of grace. Help us not to be offended by the actions or attitudes of others towards us, but rather, may our speech and conduct be honoring to You, and may we serve You in faith and purity. Help us to be a godly example to those with whom we have contact with daily, for Your holy name's sake, and greater glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

All those that are blood-bought children of God and who are walking in fellowship with the Lord Jesus can be said to be walking in the truth of His Word. For those that are born again and living in fellowship with the Lord are those that are living their life in through their new, born-again spirit (their new life) and not living as carnal believers who continue to live their Christian lives under the influence of the old sin nature. There is an ongoing attack on the truth. People talk about 'my truth' and 'your truth' as relativism runs rampant and actual truth is pushed out of society. But There Is Only One Truth and His name is Jesus: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Let us plant our feet firmly in the truth and teach our children about Him. Nothing is more thrilling for a Christian parent, or a believer who has been influential in pointing one younger in the faith to the truth of the gospel, than to see them living according to the truth, walking in fellowship with the Lord Jesus, living in submission to the Holy Spirit's guiding hand, living under the influence of the new person in Christ (and not the old sin nature), and reflecting the grace, truth, love, and humility that flows to them from their Savior. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You that we are Your children and thank You for those people in Christ that You have placed in our lives to shepherd and guide. We pray that all our 'children' - those newer brothers and sisters in Christ, may live according to Your truth. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. There are three specific things that the Christian has been instructed to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil. In each case, we have been equipped with the tools to do just that. We submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us. The short answer to overcoming the works of the flesh is to walk in the spirit and adhere to the truth. The Word of God gives many helpful instructions on how to be filled with the spirit so that the lusts of the flesh will be starved of their sinful desires. As members of Christ's Body, we are accepted by God and have also overcome the world by faith in the Beloved Son of God. By Our Faith In Christ, we have overcome the ungodly world system that is saturated in sin and seeks to entrap us all in its many and varied temptations and enticements. God has given us all we need to not only overcome the world but also to overcome the flesh and the devil. Let us live and work to His praise and glory, He alone deserves all the honor and glory, He alone is worthy. for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and His sacrificial work on the Cross. Thank You that He has already overcome the world and that by faith in Him, we too are overcomers. Thank You that we have been born of the Spirit and have been clothed in His righteousness, and thank You that we are accepted in Christ. May we submit our lives to You entirely and live each day in spirit and truth, to Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name. AMEN. As Christians, we are to be pure in our inner hearts and holy in our outer lives. As children of God, we are to be driven to be as perfect as our Father in heaven. In this Church Age, we are given ample teachings on how to live the Christian life so that we are inwardly pure, outwardly holy, and set apart unto the Lord. Wives are instructed to be subject to their husbands while husbands are to love their wives. Children are to be obedient to their parents while fathers are to correct but not embitter their children. No matter what status or position we hold, at home or abroad, we are to do everything with dignity, humility, and to the glory of God "knowing that from the Lord we will receive the reward of the inheritance, because the Lord Christ is the One Whom we serve." When we fulfil our roles and responsibilities in our own family and within our wider community as instructed in His Word, we will certainly receive the reward of our inheritance but if we choose to ignore the Lord's instructions and walk in fleshly ways, He will judge us righteously and without favoritism. We are to serve the Lord, not a Preacher, a group of Deacons or Priests or even a Church, we are to serve the Lord. May we take to heart the practical instruction and godly guidance on the interpersonal roles and the relationships that are outlined in this verse and do all to the glory of God "knowing that from the Lord we will receive the reward of the inheritance because The Lord Christ Is The One Whom We Serve." since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that our eternal salvation is secure in Christ. Thank You that by faith in Him our sins have been forgiven, forever. We pray that we may live our lives to Your praise and glory and that, whether at home or in the wider world, we walk in humble obedience before You and do everything as unto the Lord. Thank You for Christ Who gave His life for us. We Pray that in everything we say and do, we may live my life for Him, in Whose name we pray, AMEN. The closer we get to the close of the Church Age, the more we recognize this prophetic word from Paul coming to pass. We See An Evolving Gospel which focusses on a feel-good factor and we hear of ungodly aberration in the Body of Christ. Some teach a prosperity gospel with its accompanying unbiblical 'word of faith' declarations and positive proclamations, together with an emerging church where Scripture is altered to tickle the ears of foolish men and women. Some falsely teach a universal salvation, where everyone is eventually saved or that there are many ways to God. There are also those that follow secular philosophies and promote an unbiblical worldview where Bible prophecy is ignored or twisted and extra biblical teachings are promoted, while others are encouraged to live a purpose-driven life through a socialite gospel. Many like to focus on social changes in the community while denigrating the gospel of Christ, the salvation of the lost, and spiritual maturity, while others continue to teach an equally concerning works-based religion, rather that a grace-based faith which too often promotes the unbiblical teaching called 'replacement theology' Let us all study to show ourselves approved unto God and take to heart the whole council of God so that we are not led astray in these increasingly evil and godless times. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, keep us low at the Cross and looking to Jesus. Protect our hearts and minds from the huge numbers of false teachers and unbiblical doctrines that are flooding the Church today. Help us to identify false teachings and distorted doctrines and we pray that we may flee from the increasing amount of ungodly, unbiblical, and extra-biblical teachings that are flooding the Christian world today. We pray that we may live worthy of our calling in Christ, and live our lives to His praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. As admirable as this command from the Lord Jesus is... it is important to read it in its correct context if we are to apply it in our lives, in spirit and in truth - because 'The Golden Rule' is a statement that underpins true righteousness which comes from Christ alone. In its correct context, this golden rule is a sublime concept that is rooted in divine love which bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Treating others in the same way that we would like them to treat us, is a Christians principle that is rooted in godly love which is poured into our hearts from above - and God's love never, ever fails. The instruction to treat others the way that we would like to be treated by them, is the final directive to believers in a list which requires us to love our enemies, to do good to those that hate us, and to bless those that curse us. Doing to others what we would want them to do for us, is embedded in Christ's directive to refrain from retaliation, to give freely to others, and to pray for those who mistreat us and despitefully use us. 'The Golden Rule' as so many like to call this instruction from Christ, demonstrates the kind of love that only comes to us from our Father in heaven when we are walking in spirit and truth and remaining in full fellowship with our Heavenly Lord. In a confused world where love has grown cold and consideration for others has turned into cruel aggression, there is an increasing need for us to apply 'The Golden Rule' in our own lives... but it can only be manifested in the life of a believer through the power of the Holy Spirit. Do to others as you would have them do to you. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we Pray that our lives may reflect the love and compassion that Christ had for us in that while we were yet sinners, He died for us so that by faith in His name we might be saved from a lost eternity and receive the forgiveness of our sins. Help us to apply 'The Golden Rule' in our lives and give us the grace to love others with a Christ-like love, that comes from You alone. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Much of Christ's sermon on the mount was on the righteousness behavior that God expects and demands from those who by faith in God have become His children, by faith. Jesus did not say that we would become children of God by exhibiting righteous behavior, for by righteous works of the flesh shall no man living be justified. Rather He was teaching that godly behavior and righteous deeds would show that we are His children. Godly action and attitudes should demonstrate that we are already His children. Gracious words and holy deeds should be spiritual fruit that is being shown forth in the lives of all believers.. because they are children of God. Practicing righteousness and godly living as Christ instructed is the path to spiritual maturity, but He gives a severe warning about the motive behind godly works and the intention behind the performance of righteous deeds: beware of practicing your righteousness before others to be noticed by them, is Christ's serious warning to His disciples. Jesus is cautioning them to Be Careful Not To Do The Right Thing For The Wrong Reason. God is the One that searches the heart. He alone knows the moment the heart of the unbeliever starts to trust in Christ for salvation but He also knows the heart of the believer.. and His rewards for Christians are entirely based on the motive behind the works that we perform. “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, keep us we Pray from the temptations to do hypocritical works of the flesh in order to receive the applause of others. Examine our hearts and search the hidden motives of our minds and expose all that is offensive to You. Help us to live and work to Your praise and glory from this day forward, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. This verse sums it up in a nutshell what the Christian's life should look like and how the born-again believer should behave moment by moment, in word and in deed, in mind and in motive. The question should not be, "What would Jesus do?" but can this action be carried out in the name of Jesus and to His glory? Can the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be done in the name of Jesus? Is what I say and do honoring Him? Is what I am and what I think worthy of Him, and is my behavior an accurate reflection of His holy name, or would I be ashamed if He were to catch me in the very act? Whatever we do in word and in deed no matter what it is, Let Us Do Everything In The Name Of The Lord Jesus and in total dependence upon Him. Let us remember that we are witnesses of His grace and His chosen representatives on earth. May all we do in word or deed be done in His name, giving praise and thanksgiving to God the Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, search our hearts, we pray, and see if there is anything that is preventing us from living unto the Lord. May all we do in word and deed, be carried out in the name of Jesus and to His praise and glory. Keep our eyes looking to Him and our hearts ready to do His will. Thank You, Father, that we are called by His name. Thank You that You Who started good works in us and we will complete it in the day of Christ Jesus. To You we give all the honor and praise, thanksgiving and worship. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. These words of encouragement and comfort were spoken to Israel through the mouth of the prophet Isaiah: "Fear Not," was the command they were given, which was accompanied with the most glorious promise: "Fear not - for I am with you. Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God and I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." And this same instruction and wonderful assurance is given to the Church, which is the Body of Christ. Christ is our righteousness, Christ is our ever-present help in time of trouble, and it is Christ Whose grace is always sufficient for all our needs for Christ is our covering. How, then, can we fear if God is for us? Who is there to fear? Whether the comforting words 'Fear Not' appear in the Bible 366 times or simply once, we should hearken to His Word and trust His promises, His Word is trustworthy and true. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we know that there are many times that fear has replaced faith in our hearts, yet why should we fear when You have told us so many times to fear not? Thank You for Your promise to be with us always, to strengthen us, to be with us and to uphold us with Your righteous right hand, for which we thank You and bless Your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. One of the most pervasive sins which too often feeds our fleshly attitudes and appetite is bitterness. Bitterness is often the root of many emotional outbursts and is too often birthed by a smothering resentment against the injustice or unfairness of another or due to problematic circumstances. Some of these circumstances may be real while others may be perceived, some of these circumstances may have been avoidable, and others unavoidable. But when bitterness is allowed to take root in our heart, it can grow into a poisonous volcano that spews its toxic venom over all who pass by. Bitterness is also like a tree which can branch into every area of our life and cause devastation, distress, and destruction, to ourselves and to others. We are instructed to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, and slander, along with every form of malice. We are exhorted to Be Kind And Compassionate To One Another, forgiving each other just as in Christ, God forgave you. When kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and grace are sprinkled over the root of bitterness, the bitter root will shrivel away and allow us to love in the same way that Christ loved us and gave Himself for us. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive us for any bitterness that we have harbored in our hearts against You or others. Thank You that we have been forgiven by grace through faith in Christ. Help us to be slow to anger, quick to forgive, and abounding in steadfast love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and grace. To the glory of Christ, in Whose name we Pray, AMEN. "They hated Me without any cause," Jesus told the apostles, "but if the world hates you, never forget that it hated Me before it ever hated you." The world would hate them because they were Followers Of Christ Who is the only Way to the Father. They would be sifted by the enemy because they had been rescued from the clutches of Satan; for the wages of their sin had been paid in full, by Christ and the curse that lay heavy on their heads, had been removed through His sacrificial work at Calvary. All those that follow the Lord Jesus will go through tribulations and suffer persecution for their faith. All of us who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will be despised, rejected, persecuted, and killed because of Christ Who came to pay the price for the sin of the world and gave His life as the ransom price for whoever would believe on His name, but how few have ears that really listen. “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You, that Your Word states plainly that the world hated Jesus. We understand that trials and tribulations are common to all men and women, but that those who follow You will inevitably suffer persecution for righteousness sake. Thank You that You have promised to keep us through the difficulties, dangers, persecution, and pain that all who live godly lives in Christ will suffer. We are so thankful that You intimately understand how we feel when the world hates us, because it hated You first. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, Who is the hope of our calling, and thank You that Your grace is sufficient for every situation we may have to face in this life. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The spiritual Christian who works the work of God in His power and strength, has a 'living faith'. The carnal Christian who does not work the works of God, has a 'dead faith'. The former has a living faith, while the latter who does not honor God in their Christian life, is said to have a 'dead faith'. The carnal Christian who tries to do good deeds in their own strength or does them for their own glory, has a dead faith. May we follow in the path of spiritual Christians and never forget that the Lord Jesus, not the Mosaic Law, is our pattern for life. Jesus is the One believers are instructed to follow. May we live by faith and Carry Out Good Works By Faith so that we demonstrate a living faith to the glory of God. May we understand that it is not the good works we do that save us but the good work that Christ carried out on the Cross on our behalf, by which we are saved. May we live and work the works of God in HIS power and for HIS glory, for the rest of our days. In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and the example He set in His life of a Man Who fulfilled the redemptive work that You had prepared for Him to do, willingly and in the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray that we may work the works of God and demonstrate a living faith that honors Your holy name. We pray that we will not try to carry out dead works in our own strength but rather that we will demonstrate a living faith using Jesus as the pattern for our Christian walk. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. What A Precious Picture we have of the Lord when likened to an eagle. Eagles have been identified as being swift in flight, and a powerful adversary who is strong and tenacious and with excellent vision. Although the eagle is a fierce bird of prey, it has also been identified as a wise and attentive parent, showing great care and tenderness for its young while teaching them some very hard lessons. The parent bird may soar up in the thermals and reach incredible heights in search of food. But they are also vigilantly watching over their young with tenderness and care and although they may soar out of sight, their keen eye is watching for anything that may endanger their young in the nest. The picture of the eagle stirring up its nest, hovering over its young, spreading out its wings and catching its babies on its pinions, paints the most beautiful picture of our heavenly Father as he cares for us, teaches us, trains us, and causes us to grow in grace as we trust Him in the increasingly problematic times in which we live. like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us and saving us through faith in Your only begotten Son. Thank You for the care You so readily give to all Your children and thank You for those times in our lives when You have 'stirred up our little nests' and permitted us to undergo difficult times, which have helped to strengthen our faith and to grow in grace and in a knowledge of You. Thank You for being so faithful, even when our faith fails and thank You, Father, for Your day by day provision and care. May we be a living witness to Your never-failing goodness and grace... both in the words we say and the actions we take. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Anger Is Not Always A Sin and not all anger is wrong, and there are times when Christians should express righteous anger in a way that honors the Lord. But when any sort of anger is not addressed biblically, the enemy can turn righteous anger into a sin or escalate fleshly anger into a greater offence, which is why Paul continues with the directive: "Do not let the sun go down on your anger." We are to address ALL anger issues, quickly. How important to keep a tight rein on every form of anger. Fleshly anger should be renounced before it has an opportunity to develop. As soon as an angry, jealous, vindictive, vengeful thought is conceived in the mind, it should be taken captive and given to Christ so that it is not allowed to produce the fruit of unrighteousness, while righteous anger should not be permitted to develop into some sort of self-righteous attitude, which also gives the enemy a foothold in our life. May we learn to recognize the difference between true righteous anger and ungodly fleshly anger that causes us to sin. Keep short accounts' when dealing with anger and be ready to address issues immediately so that we honor the Lord in thought, word, deed, motive, and emotions. “In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Paul's simple, but important teaching on anger issues. We pray that we may be ready and willing to express anger against sin and the things that grieve Your heart, in a godly and righteous way that honors Your name. May we also recognize any fleshly emotions which motivate us toward unrighteous anger. May we never give the enemy a foothold in our lives, either directly, through fleshly anger, or indirectly, by allowing legitimate, righteous anger to deteriorate into a self-righteous attitude. Give us wisdom, we pray, and a discerning heart to know when to be angry without sinning so that the testimony we present may be for Your honor and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. There are lessons on godly living for men and women of all ages in Paul's letter to Titus, and we would all be well-advised to take to heart his guidelines for those in positions of authority within the church: "Encourage the young men to be self-controlled in everything," he advises. "Make yourself an example of good works with integrity in doctrine. Be dignified in your teaching. Your message is to be sound in speech and beyond reproach so that the opponent will be ashamed, having nothing bad to say about us." Paul may have been instructing Titus on his pastoral role and the importance of sound teaching and a sanctified life, but his wise words need to resonate in the ears of all of God's people, and be translated into daily action if we are to be used in His service and bring praise to His name. May we Become An Example To Others, in our day to day living. May we carry out righteous deeds for God's glory and remain pure in doctrine, dignified in sound speech, and beyond reproach in actions and attitude so that those who oppose us will be shamed into silence, and have nothing bad to say about us. and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the valuable teachings we have in the book of Titus and the many instructions on righteous living and sound speech. We pray that we may live godly in Christ Jesus, and remain sound in doctrine. We ask that You would guide us all into truth and correct us from any error. We pray that we might become a living testimony of Your goodness and grace, and be used by You to live lives that are beyond reproach, only saying and doing those things that honor Your holy name, to Your greater glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. |
