Christ is our righteousness, Christ is our ever-present help in time of trouble, and it is Christ Whose grace is always sufficient for all our needs for Christ is our covering. How, then, can we fear if God is for us? Who is there to fear? Whether the comforting words 'Fear Not' appear in the Bible 366 times or simply once, we should listen to His Word and trust His promises for His Word is trustworthy and true. "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Our United Prayer: Loving Father, we know that there are many times that fear has replaced faith in our hearts, yet why should we fear when You have told us so many times to fear not? Thank You for Your promise to be with us always, to strengthen us, to be with us and to uphold us with Your righteous right hand, for which we thank You and bless Your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. There are many pieces of spiritual armor which God has prepared for our protection during our time on earth, and those that know their God and trust His Word will continuously carry that Shield-of-Faith by taking every thought captive to Christ, by keeping their eyes of faith on Jesus and by resisting every attack of the enemy, through standing firm on the Word of faith. May we stand fast in these evil days and take up the Shield-of-Faith moment by moment, knowing that with it, we are able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, and stand victorious - by the power of His Spirit, which is given by faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. "In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one" Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You have fully equipped us to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil, with such wonderful pieces of spiritual armor. Thank You for the Shield-of-Faith, with which we are enabled to extinguish all the flaming arrows and fiery darts of the evil one. Help us to stand fast on the promises of God and to keep our eyes looking to Jesus. Thank You that we have not only been saved by grace through faith in Him, but that in the power of the Holy Spirit we may live by grace through faith. Father, we pray that we live by faith and not by sight, to Your eternal praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Foundational faith in Christ's sacrificial death needs to continue into a life that is lived by faith, as we grow in grace and mature in the faith we move from one degree of faith to another measure of faith. We are SAVED by faith. We are called to LIVE by faith and instructed to keep on living by faith, knowing that He who started a good work in us will be faithful to complete it in the day of Christ Jesus. We are justified by faith, sanctified by faith and one day we will be glorified, when we shall see Him as He is. That is the time when faith will be rewarded by sight. "For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the glorious gospel of Christ. Thank You that the righteousness of God has been revealed in the Cross, where Christ suffered the punishment for our sins and paid the price for our redemption with His holy and precious blood. Thank You that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ. Lord, we want to live our lives by faith and grow in grace from one degree of faith to the next, until Christ is formed in us. Our lives are not our own, for we have been bought with a price. We pray that our lives may be lived by faith, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Jesus' death on the Cross was a sweet smelling savor to the Lord, and by His blood we have been redeemed by faith, made children of God, heirs of His righteousness, and joint-heirs with Christ. And although we have an assurance that "while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease," we also have an eternal hope, an inheritance that is incorruptible and undefiled, and that does not fade away, reserved for us in heaven. "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the joys of the seasons, the provision of seedtime and harvest, the warmth of the sun, and the refreshing rest through the cool of the night. We praise You for our creation, preservation, forgiveness, and love, and for the many precious promises that are kept for us in heaven. But most of all, we thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross and rise again so that He could become our Savior, by grace through faith. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. This glorious gospel is simply profound and profoundly simple: Christ died for us, He was buried, and He rose again to bring peace with God to a lost and dying world. May our feet be shod with the good news of peace with God, knowing that all who hear this proclamation and respond in faith to its call will be forgiven of their sins, made one with Christ, be clothed in His righteousness, and receive everlasting life by faith which comes by hearing, and hearing through the truth that comes through Christ - the living Word of God. "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of hearing. Thank You for the people who told us about Jesus, for all who proclaimed the message of Christ in our hearing. Thank You for those that taught us that we are sinners in need of salvation, which only comes through the sacrificial death of Christ on our behalf. May our feet be shod with the beautiful message of peace with God, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord, in Whose name we pray, AMEN. In the eternal ages that will follow the new heaven and earth, Jesus will no longer rule with a rod of iron. He will reign for ever and ever, and of His eternal kingdom there will be no end. There will be no war, no death, no sin, no rebellion, no sickness, and no pain in the new heaven and the new earth for the former things will have passed away. There will be no enemies to fight, neither natural enemies nor spiritual foes. There will be no sacrificial system and no Temple, but the Lamb that was slain for us will be worshipped for ever and ever. Praise His holy name. "But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect plan of salvation. Thank You that You have given all the fallen so much time to choose, to accept Your gift of salvation by faith and to be born again into Your heavenly kingdom. Thank You that the troubles and trials of this present age will one day cease, and that believers have the hope and blessing of ruling and reigning with Christ in His Kingdom. Thank You that in the ages to come, heaven and earth will be free of all the residue of sin and Satan, as You will destroy the old and create new heavens and a new earth. May we play our parts in Your eternal plan and purpose and live our lives today in a way that points the world to Christ. May we honor Your holy name in thought, word, and deed. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The authority these two witnesses will receive from God comes from the same Holy Spirit Who empowers all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, for greater is He that is in us than those that is in the world. This is a truth that all who have called on the name of the Lord should know as fact, for His Word is truth. The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will empower God's two witnesses during the Great Tribulation and is the same Holy Spirit that is within us. May we stand firm on the authority of God's Word and witness faithfully to the truth during our time on earth. May we never forget that our strength comes from the Lord alone - for it is not by might nor by power, that we overcome in this troubled age, "but by My Spirit," says the Lord. And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have told us the end from the beginning and that evil will one day be fully and finally put away. Thank You for sending Jesus to be the propitiation for our sins, rescuing us from eternal damnation, and clothing us in His perfect righteousness. May we be a faithful witnesses in the positions where You have placed us and continue to work the works of God, during our time on earth. Thank You that the Holy Spirit Who raised Jesus from the dead will empower Your two witnesses during the Time of Tribulation, and that He is greater that he that is in the world. Praise Your holy name - for we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and have been made one with Christ - in Whose name we pray, AMEN. For a short time, we will experience many hardships, trials, and tribulations and for a time it will appear that the godly are flourishing while the children of God are in great deprivation, but in the world to come, the life we lose here will be rewarded with much gain in the next. But if we gain much in this world through covetous behavior, we will forfeit much in the next. How important, therefore, to take care of our lives, and to be on our guard against all covetousness, for our life does not consist of the abundance of our possessions, but of the treasure we have stored up in heaven. And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, keep us from covetousness, carnal behavior, and envying the wicked who seem to have everything in this world, while so many of Your children often seem to be so deprived. Help us to realize how short this life is and the futility of living for earthly possessions. Help us to live our lives in spirit and truth, so that by dying to self, we live for Christ and to His praise and glory, which will produce a great reward in heaven. In Jesus' name, AMEN. Though we look on the outside and are drawn to religious acts and ceremony, God looks on the heart and delights in the one that approaches Him humbly, reverently and in the fear of the Lord - for God is close to those that are humble in heart; He saves those who are crushed in spirit; He feeds them that are hungry for Him and streams of His living water will flow in and through those that worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. God is Spirit and they that worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth, There must be no hidden agenda; selfish motive; religious pride or hypocritical heart.. and worship does not require a series of religious rituals nor is it necessary to have an appointed place of worship: "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Jesus to be born as a man, Who was not subject to our limitations and fleshly leanings, but Who lived His life as the perfect example of a man Who walked in spirit and truth:- trusting Your Word, in humble submission to the Holy Spirit and in full dependence upon the Father. We pray that like Christ we may live our lives trusting Your Word, in submission to the Holy Spirit and in total dependence upon You, so that we may worship You as You desire... in spirit and in truth, to Your praise and glory, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. Just as love begets love, so too provoking others to good works by our own demonstration, will promote good works in them as well. Good works can only by carried out in our Christian life.. through the power of the Holy Spirit. So we promote love and good works in others, in spirit and in truth. How blessed we are if we can reflect on our own lives and identify those that by God's grace, patiently and lovingly provoked us to love and good works, through our faith in Christ. "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works" Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us so much that while we were still dead in our trespasses and sins, Christ completed His finished work on the cross.. so that by grace through faith in Him, we might have forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You for those who taught us about the Lord Jesus and who demonstrated the love of Christ in their own lives - provoking us to love and good works in our own lives. Help us to be so in tune with You that others may be provoked unto love and good works through our witness, as Christ lives in us and us in Him. AMEN. The sort of person that is qualified and equipped to become an overseer, is one that sees his role as humbly overseeing God's people through the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. A person should not become a leader in order to further their career... or to furnish their own honor, popularity, or credentials. They should humbly recognize that they are a servant of God whose heart should be blameless before the Lord and who should be both doctrinally sound and above reproach in their public and private life. A self-willed individual, who likes to dictate the rule of law, or who exhibits violent behavior or crude thinking, is totally inappropriate for this role of overseer, but so also is the one who is too timid and fearful to stand up for that which is right and true. The qualities of the overseer that are outlined in this epistle to Titus are, in effect, the characteristics that every child of God should seek to emulate. "For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain" Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, we want to be the sort of people that are pleasing in Your sight. Help us to examine ourselves to see if there are any areas within our own lives and characters that could be displeasing to You. Furnish the church fellowships of our nations with godly overseers who will take responsibility to care for the flock of God, and use them, and us, in whatever way You may choose, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. On many occasions, the Lord Jesus used the phrase "I Am," as a bold proclamation of His deity and equality with God the Father, The Messiah, and on this occasion He presented Himself as the Good Shepherd Who laid down His life for the sheep. It is the innocent Shepherd (Jesus) Who lay down His sinless life for the lost and guilty sheep - and for all the lost and guilty sinners who will trust in the name of the only begotten Son of God. For: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Good Shepherd and that He knows those that are the sheep of His pasture. Thank You that in Your grace, Jesus came to lay down His life for us. We pray that we may live our lives to His praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Scripture warns that many false prophets will arise in the last days and doctrines of demons will infiltrate many church fellowships. We should therefore be increasingly careful when extra-biblical 'prophecies' are proclaimed by self-appointed 'prophets' in this present age. Let us seek discernment from the Lord, knowing that He has revealed to us all we need for life and godliness in His written Word. But let us all be wary of those self-proclaimed, latter-day prophets, that proclaim 'knowledge' that is adding to, subtracting from, or altering God's final Word, about whom we are so frequently warned in the Word of God. “For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your prophetic Word and the truths that You have shared with us through Your servants, the prophets. Thank You for Your incarnate Word - the Lord Jesus Christ. Help us to read and understand all that is going on in these days of the Church dispensation. We pray that we may be ones that sound the warning of the coming wrath of God in this Christ-rejecting, sinful world, and point them to the Word of God which contains all that we need for life and godliness. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. In this verse we are encouraged, therefore, not to throw away our confidence in Christ which has a great and lasting reward. How tempting it can be, to start to rely on our own abilities and resources, in preference to trusting the Lord and depending upon His provision. However, we are exhorted not to lean on our own, human understanding and trust in our own provision, nor are we to depend on others to the exclusion of our Heavenly Father. We are not to become weary in well-doing or abandon the work that God has assigned us to do. Let us hold fast to that which is good and seek to do everything to the glory of God. And: "Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward." Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of truth and the warnings and encouragement that it contains for our spiritual learning and Christian maturity. We pray that we may be faithful to You in thought, word, and deed, and thank You for Your many precious promises which are 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ Jesus our Savior, in Whose name we pray, AMEN. When we discover ourselves to be surrounded by a whole host of menacing problems, let's not register unbelief in our hearts. Rather, let us trust in the faithful Word of God, for the Lord will fight for us, while we need to rest in His love and trust His Word, for He Who had promised will do it, in His way and to His glory. "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your many precious promises. Forgive us for the times when we take our eyes off You and slip into unbelief. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Christ and the truth of Your Word. Help us to rest in You and trust all the issues of our lives into Your hands, allowing You to work in Your way and to Your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
