Without faith it is impossible to please God and this short, simple psalm is a beautiful example of a one who demonstrated a growing faith in God. He does not rely on his own strength and innate abilities, but places his trust in the Lord and is confident that God's Word would come to pass. He maintains his conviction that God's Word is sure and has the assurance that God's promise of things to come would assuredly take place. It is easier to remind others who are facing great trials in their lives, of their need to trust in the Lord in the challenging circumstance they face or when confronted with their own personal problems! But how much more difficult it is to translate that secure faith into our own unsettled heart? Let us all Set Our Hearts To Trust In The Lord no matter what problems arise and stand firm on His promises. His past faithfulness proves His continued constancy and never-failing fidelity. He has proved Himself to be our faithful God, the anchor of our Soul, our never failing Helper, and the Sustainer of our soul. Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You for Your Word and the encouragement it gives us. Thank You for the lessons we can learn from David, who trusted Your Word and stood firm on Your promises, even when being hotly pursued by evil violent men who sought to destroy him. We praise You that You are our God, our Helper, and the Sustainer of our souls. Keep us from allowing the stresses and strains of life to cause us to doubt Your Word, and keep our feet in the path of righteousness, for His name's sake we Pray, AMEN. We Are God's Masterpiece, God's workmanship, God's handiwork, God's creatures ,we are God's new creation in Christ Jesus. We were born spiritually dead in our sins. In God's eyes, we were a rotting corpse, the putrefying remains of a fallen creation with no beauty that God should desire us; with no hope, help, comfort, or peace in the world. But being so rich in mercy, in His gracious loving-kindness, God loved us. Even though we were in the pitiable state of death because of our sins, He gave us life in Christ. Our present condition is irredeemable, a fallen creature can never change, but when He raised Christ from the dead, God exchanged our old life in Adam for our new life in Christ. When HE died, WE died, and when Christ was risen, we too were raised from our state of death into newness of life. We must never forget that it is only by God's grace that we have been saved. It is only by God's grace that we have salvation, and we access that salvation through faith. By grace we are saved, through faith and not of ourselves, lest we boast, salvation is a gift of God's grace. But we have not been raised to newness of life for no purpose. We are God's masterpiece, made in Christ Jesus in order that we may be able to perform the good acts and good works, which God prepared for us to do before we were even born. How awesome it is that we truly are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we praise Your wonderful name that we are Your handiwork. Thank You that we were not saved by good works, but by grace through faith in Jesus. But thank You that we are saved unto good works, and so we pray our lives would be lived to serve You wholeheartedly in the works You have prepared for us to do, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. This is a verse we all love to quote as we rejoice in the abundant supply of our generous God Who is overflowing with gracious-mercy and bubbling over with loving-kindness. He does not make any promises that will be broken, and the super-abundance of His Generosity Covers All Things. It covers anything and everything that we need. All good and perfect gifts come from our Father in heaven Who is our great Provider. Indeed, not one of us could draw another breath without His provision and grace, but God is no man's debtor. Let's never translate our wants into our needs. Rather, let us live our lives on earth knowing that this life is fleeting and that our eternal home is in heaven. Be content with all that we receive and give God both the thanks and the glory for all His ongoing and abundant supply. Rejoice to be children of our generous God and be ready and willing to honor the Lord with all our possessions and finances. Become cheerful givers for the cause of the gospel, knowing that this honors the Lord Who will never fail to provide everything we need. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we stand amazed at Your gracious bounty, knowing that You care about both the little things that we need today, as well as the eternal blessings that are being laid up for us in heaven, for which we praise Your holy name. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Jesus lived as a man in the way that God desires all His children to live - in lowliness of spirit and in complete dependence upon the Father. He lived as we are called to live, in order to demonstrate to us how we should live in utter dependence upon the Son so that we might know God intimately, and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent. The right way to live the Christian life is In Total Reliance Of The Lord, clinging to Him by faith, admitting our helplessness, and trusting in His strength. The Lord Jesus was meek and lowly in heart and we are to learn of Him. His entire life was spent living the life of a man that trusted entirely on God, and He did only those things that He heard from the Father. In like manner, when we take His yoke upon us and learn to live in continuous dependence upon Him, we too shall find rest for our souls, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of humility and grace that the Lord Jesus set throughout His life, as He lived in utter dependence upon You. May we learn from Him so that in humility of heart and gentleness of spirit, we may learn to live in complete dependence upon Him, Whom to know is life eternal. In Jesus Name we Pray, AMEN. This parable is designed to urge us not to become discouraged or to lose heart, but to keep on seeking the Lord, to keep on keeping on, in utter dependency on our Heavenly Father. The need to keep in Constant Communion With The Lord is not just a good idea but is absolutely necessary. It is imperative that we maintain an open channel of communication between ourselves and our Heavenly Father, and when that channel of communication is closed, it is not the fault of our Father but our own, sin in its many disguises is the single cause that keeps sinful human from a holy God and keeps a forgiven sinner from their Heavenly Father. In this parable, we are urged that Christians MUST pray at all times and not to lose heart, it is only the humble heart that is clean before the Lord and who trusts in Christ alone for his needs and necessities, that will maintain constant communion and uninterrupted fellowship - which equates to an attitude of unbroken prayer. Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, help us, we pray, to remain clean before You in thought, word, and deed, so that we may maintain that attitude of unbroken communion with You. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. A life that is lived in spirit and truth is a life that is Led By The Holy Spirit Of God Who came to dwell in our hearts and guide our lives the moment we were born from above, and He speaks to us quietly through our enlivened human spirit. The Holy Spirit knows the thoughts of our heart and the deep yearnings within our soul, and He reaches out to us. He longs to lead and guide us into all truth and He is grieved if we choose to live our life according to our old fleshly nature which was severed at the Cross, when we live our lives in spirit and truth He takes the deep cravings of our hearts (cravings that we ourselves do not understand), and He intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Sometimes the deepest desires of our hearts are hidden within our being. Sometimes we ourselves do not even understand what our secret hopes and hidden hurts are, but they become a thirst in our soul - a thirst that we cannot quench ourselves. But the Spirit joins with us to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray as we should, and so He Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. He takes the deepest prayers within our hearts and beautifies them and perfects them and answers them in the way that is best. This is why our hearts should be always open to say: "Thy will not mine be done." In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Holy Spirit Who knows our hearts better than we know ourselves. Thank You that He is interceding for us right now, with groanings which cannot be uttered. Take the inner yearnings of our hearts and beautify them, We pray, so that we may live our lives in a way that glorifies You. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. Peacemakers are not the people who simply want peace or long for peace. They are not the governments that pass laws on peace, or legislators who write policies on peacekeeping. Peacemakers are those whom the Lord God uses to bring reconciliation to a fallen world. As Christians, We Have Peace With God Through Faith, and have been made ministers of reconciliation, so that fallen sinners may be reconciled back to God and gain true peace in their heart. God in His grace has reconciled those who believe in the Lord Jesus to Himself, and through Christ, we have been given this important ministry of reconciliation, so that the world may know that God is the Lord and Saviour of mankind. Christ came to earth to reveal God's goodness and grace, and His death on the cross opened the way for fallen man to find peace with God - to be reconciled back to Him through faith in His Son. Mankind seeks after empty happiness and longs for peace in a world at war, but the child of God who has been saved by grace through the sacrificial work of Christ on Calvary's cross, gains more than happiness. He is blessed to be reconciled to God and to have peace with Him through the forgiveness of sin. But there is so much more, for we who have peace with God, in a world at war, and we have the peace of God within. We have been promised when we rest in Him and walk in spirit and truth, His peace will guard our heart and guide our path. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Our United Prayer:
We thank You, Heavenly Father, that we have peace with You through the death of Jesus, our Savior. We pray we may be peace-makers in the place that You have put us, by maintaining fellowship with You and by sharing the gospel of grace with all we may meet. May we be used as Your instruments of godly reconciliation and peace-making in this distressed world. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We are instructed to Keep The Eyes Of Our Heart Upon Jesus Who has promised to carry all our burdens and to comfort us in all our affliction so that we may offer solace to others who are also weighed down by the cares of this world and oppressed by evil-doers. As we change our focus onto the Lord, so our faith in Him is excited within our heart and we are encouraged to trust in the Lord and do good , to feed on His faithfulness so that we may become strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. We are to believe His promises and hold fast to the Word of truth. When our will is aligned with the will of God, as was intended in the beginning, then the things that delight our Heavenly Father will naturally become the joy of our own heart. When we delight ourselves in the Lord and take pleasure in the things that are uppermost on God's own heart, we will discover that they become the joy of our heart – and we will be able to spiritually appraise all things and to say that we are one with Him and have the mind of Christ. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive us for the times when we have delighted ourselves in wrong things. Keep us from fretting over evildoers in this increasingly confusing world, and help us to keep the eyes of our hearts on Jesus and to delight ourselves in the things of God. Align our thoughts to Your thoughts, we pray, and our will to the will of God. May the desires of our hearts unite with Your will and eternal purposes, for Your everlasting praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. A godly character that reflects the likeness of Christ, is one that loves others as Christ loved us. The love about which the Bible speaks, is different from every other type of human love, and is uniquely imparted to the child of God from the Spirit of truth and love. Loving in word, is contrasted with loving in deed. It is translating one's affectionate words into meaningful, practical deeds, through the grace of God. The former is to talk about caring, while the latter is to express unconditional love, in action. Loving in tongue is contrasted with loving in spirit and in truth. The former is an insincere and artificial affection, while the latter is a genuine godly love that is manifested in a life that cares for the concerns of others before one’s own needs or wishes. Make no mistake – To Love In Deed And In Truth is not something that we can do for ourselves, however hard we try! We cannot love in deed and in truth through a training program, mental exertion, or fleshly effort. To love in deed and in truth is a love that comes directly from God, Himself, and can only be manifested in the life of a born-again believer who is walking in spirit and truth. Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are Your children and that Christ died to pay the price for our sins. Thank You that He rose again so that we could become new creations in Christ, receiving our new lives in Him. May the love of the Lord Jesus flood and fill our beings, that it not only flows out to others in thoughts and words, but in spirit, in truth, and in our every action and attitude. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Our outstanding joy, eternal hope, and unassailable victory is in Christ Jesus our Lord. With this in mind, after cataloging a fearsome list of the most traumatic circumstances that may impact our lives or afflict us in the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms, and having proclaimed that nothing can separate us from Christ's love. It Is Through Christ Jesus Our Lord That We Are Saved, and it is in Him that we are overwhelming winners and irrepressible victors. No matter what sufferings and difficulties we may face, our Savior is able to work everything together for our eternal good and for His greater glory, and He does this because of His great love for each one of us. We do not crawl out of our difficulties and distresses bloodied and bruised. We emerge from every situation triumphantly, victorious through Him Who loved us and gave Himself for us. Let us believe His Word which states: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us". Let us live our lives in the expectation that we will not only overcome in the future but that we are already victorious now ,through Him Who loves us. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, we praise Your wonderful name for this glorious truth that no matter what happens in our lives, we are conquerors through Christ Who loves us and gave Himself for us. Help us not only to see this as a future hope but as a present victory in Him today. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. When Christ shouted, "It Is Finished," He had paid the full price for our sins, and there is now no condemnation to all who believe on His name. When Christ burst forth from the sealed tomb, the angels joyfully proclaimed, "He is Risen!" Our resurrected Savior broke the power of death and hell forever, and the enemy of man's soul became a defeated adversary who was bound for the lake of fire. Christ's gained a triumphant victory over sin and death on the Cross, which climaxed with His glorious resurrection from the dead, and this verse gives insight into what His glorious resurrection means for all who are in Christ. Every member of Christ's Body will be transformed, spirit, soul, and body, and this perishable body will be changed into an imperishable body, and this mortal will put on immortality. The day is coming when this corruptible will be clothed with incorruptibility and our mortal frame will be clothed with immortality. The time is fast approaching when we will proclaim, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. Thanks be to God, Who gives us the Victory Through Our Lord Jesus Christ." Our jubilant shout of triumphant thanksgiving and victory will resound throughout the eternal ages to come: But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our United Prayer: Loving Father, how much we love You and praise Your name for ever and ever. We are not worthy to pick up the crumbs under Your table and yet You have raised us up and seated us together with Christ Jesus in heavenly places, by sending Your only begotten Son to pay the incredible price for our sins and to break the power of death in our lives. We praise Your name for ever and ever. All glory and honor and might and majesty be Yours, for ever and ever, AMEN. There are certain character traits that are earthly, fleshly, sensual, and demonic, and there are those that are spiritual, holy, and godly. Only those that are born again believers who walk in spirit and truth, are enabled to display the good and godly attributes that come from above, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Both unsaved sinners and carnal Christians who carry out the works of the flesh, can display the ungodly characteristics associated with envy, jealousy, selfish ambition, and the pride of life which manifest in disorder and every evil thing. Many have rejected true wisdom in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus, and have chosen to live their lives according to their own perceived intelligence, which results in jealousy, envy, ambition, strife, and every kind of evil work. Seek After The Wisdom That Comes From God, which is a pure wisdom in thought, word, and deed. Continue to strive after the wisdom from above, which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits – unwavering and without hypocrisy. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the power of God and the wisdom of God and that in Him is no confusion or shifting shadows. We know that the enemy likes to bind us up in confusing webs of lies, fear, and doubt. May we resist the devil and keep our eyes focused on Jesus alone. This we ask in Jesus' holy name, AMEN. Assuredly, we should bless the Lord with the whole of our being, for the Lord inhabits the praises of His children. Surely, we should sing and make joyful music in our hearts to the Lord our God, for He Alone Is Worthy Of All The Glory, might, dominion, power, praise, and blessing. This is no self-centered, superficial form of worship, but a yearning desire deep within that is overwhelmed by Who God is and what He has done for all who trust in the Son of His love. When we consider our wonderful Creator, our heart is filled with awe and wonder at His mighty power and the vastness of His great wisdom; but when we consider the nails that pierced His hands and feet, the crown that tore His head, and the sword that thrust His side all for love of His own, and when we consider that Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, to make her holy, to cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word, is it not our glorious privilege to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, bow down before Him with our whole body, soul, and spirit, and praise our mighty Savior and King for ever and ever? Never forget to praise the LORD and remember all the good things He does for us all. He forgives all our sins. He heals all our diseases. He redeems us from death. He crowns us with love and tender mercies. He fills our lives with good things. He renews our youth like the eagle's. Praise the Lord! Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, Our United Prayer: Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, we worship, praise and bless You with our whole beings, You are a great, mighty, and wonderful God, and we love You, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The closing chapters of Hebrews offer some excellent, ethical instructions on constructive Christian living, brotherly hospitality, and nurturing a godly concern for the needs of others, as well as giving some serious warnings about refusing God's grace and rejecting His Word. It seems, from this verse, that a spirit of contentment could be a valuable guard against developing covetousness - an ungodly behavior that spawns discontent, jealousy, grudges, and greed. God, in His grace, has given us many precious blessings and has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, no matter how fiercely the bitter winds of trial batter our lives and irrespective of other people who may have betrayed or hurt us. May we develop a character that is free from the love of money and strive to be content in all things, knowing that He Himself has promised to be with us in all the changing scenes of our lives. Let's ponder on these comforting words of the Lord when we are tempted to envy the life of another or allow seeds of discontent to be sown in our hearts. Let us ponder on these words, Rejoice In The Lord Always, and be content in Him, He has promised, "I will never leave you nor will I forsake you." Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, we confess that there are times when we are tempted to be dissatisfied with our lives and envious of others, leaving us feeling discontented. Forgive us, Lord. May we be reminded today of that most precious blessing that You will never leave us nor forsake us. Remind us today, Lord, that as part of Your Bride we are the most blessed people on earth. Help us to keep our priorities in order, not looking to things of the earth for contentment but to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The world is weary and war-torn... and individually and internationally the world longs for peace. People yearn for a ruler who will usher in a golden age of peace and prosperity. The world aches for a perfect reign of righteousness and virtue. They crave a time when the groans of creation cease, the wicked are punished, the hungry are fed, the oppressed are vindicated, the weary are refreshed, and justice rules in the corridors of power. A time is indeed coming when The Earth Shall Be Filled With Justice And Peace, and the King of righteousness will reign supreme over the whole earth. He will judge with equity and peace, but it will never come about through the manipulations of people, democratic rule, imposed authoritarianism, or by majority votes in governmental ballot boxes. At that time, He will judge the people fairly. The mountains will bring forth peace and justice will be given to the poor. The children of the needy will be saved, and the yoke of the oppressor will be broken in pieces. The name of the Lord will be feared throughout all generations and "He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass and will be likened to refreshing showers that water the whole earth," and the days of His righteousness will flourish. May he be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are sending the Lord Jesus to be Your anointed King Who is appointed to judge the world in righteousness and rule the nations with equity. We look forward to that time when the earth will be filled with His glory. In the meantime, we pray that we may live to His praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. |
