PRAYING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY
Like his letters to Timothy, this epistle to Titus outlines 1) the qualification of elders 2) the characteristics of false teachers and 3) the godly behaviour that should be evident in the lives of all believers. And like so many of Paul's writings, his main focus was to further the gospel of Jesus Christ and to equip the saints in sound doctrine so that they would be enabled to grow in their own spiritual understanding of the glorious gospel of grace, and to proclaim the undistorted truth of God to others. Our hope in Christ is not only a future expectation, but it is already our present possession, for when we were saved by grace through faith in Christ, we were made children of God, citizens of heaven, heirs of the grace, and joint-heirs with Christ. Nothing is as sure as the Word of God, He cannot lie and in due time God will fulfil His Word to the letter. Let us all rejoice and be glad that God has given us eternal life both now and in the ages to come - which is ours by grace through faith in Christ Jesus our Savior. In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that eternal life is not only a sure hope for the future, but is already our present possession today. Thank You for Your promise of eternal life to all who have trusted Christ as Savior. and thank You that Your Word is true, and Your promises stand fast forever and ever. We pray that as Your ambassadors on earth, we may live as worthy citizens of heaven, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN. There is no greater joy than knowing that one's children are walking with the Lord, growing spiritually, and standing firm in the faith, and I am sure that Paul longed to see his beloved Timothy, knowing that their fellowship in the Lord would bring much mutual joy and rejoicing. We who have been justified by faith, may miss loved ones who are far away or who have gone to be with the Lord, but we do not grieve as others who have no hope. Our blessed hope is Jesus Who is soon coming to take us to be with Himself. Though earthly weeping may endure for a night, joy will come in the morning when we are with Him, for we shall see Him as He is and we shall be like Him - to the glory of God the Father. Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Paul and for this final letter to Timothy. I praise You for the wisdom and grace that is shared in its pages. Thank You for those in our lives who taught us the gospel, and for those who are younger in the faith whose lives have impacted ours. May we hold fast to the truth that we have learned, give encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ, and develop the qualities of faithfulness, fortitude, and forbearance, as we make our way through this increasingly ungodly world. In Jesus’ name we Pray, AMEN. When the Law is correctly understood it is good, it brings lost sinners to salvation in Christ. But when it is misapplied, misappropriated, and misunderstood, it is being used unlawfully... causing sinners to strive to do good works in their own strength, by attempting to keep the righteous requirements of the Law... in the hope that God will forgive them because of their good works and meritorious acts. But this is NOT what Scripture teaches. The Law is still good IF one uses it lawfully. But today, as in the days of Paul and Timothy, there are many that teach a different gospel, which ADDs to the work Christ did on the Cross. Adding works to Christ's finished Work of salvation, will NEVER be accepted by God. 'Believe AND be baptized'. 'Believe AND give money'. 'Believe AND evangelize'. 'Believe AND do good works' 'Believe AND attend church, And so on... When the question, "what must I do to be saved?...." is asked, and the word "AND" becomes part of the answer.. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ AND... BEWARE! When any 'work of the flesh' is being added to Christ's finished work on the Cross, it is using the Law unlawfully. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You that we are justified freely by Christ's finished work on the Cross, and that salvation is a free gift to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You that our salvation does not depend on our merits, or anything that we do. Give us discernment to identify teachers who wittingly or unwittingly, use the Law unlawfully, by adding to Christ's finished work on the Cross. How we praise and thank You that our salvation does not depend on work that we do, but is dependent on the work that Christ did at Calvary, on our behalf, for which we praise and glorify Your holy name, AMEN. Death in the Bible is always depicted as a separation. Physical death is the separation of the spirit and soul from the body... but the spiritual death of the unsaved person is separation from God and is the essence of everlasting punishment. Those who reject God's offer of salvation will reap eternal destruction away from the presence of the Lord - they will find themselves excluded from the glory and majesty of God's mercy and love. Let's be be ready and willing to share the good news of the gospel of grace with all who are dead in trespasses and sins and under God's eternal condemnation. May we fulfil our calling and become ministers of reconciliation between God and man so that some will turn from their wicked ways and trust in the Lord for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You, that You do not hide the shocking consequences of unbelief. Lord, there are many under Your condemnation that face eternal destruction. We pray that You would open their eyes to the glorious gospel of grace, today. Have mercy on all who have not trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. In Jesus' name, AMEN. God holds every person responsible for the choices they make: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." To believe or not to believe is our choice: "Those who believe are not condemned, but those who do not believe are condemned already." God is also sovereign over all His creation: "He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love." For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You for the wonderful truth that we were chosen in Christ from before the foundation of the world, to be of Your elect. Thank You that everyone born of woman, has the opportunity to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. We praise You, that You do not exclude anyone who truly turns to You for salvation, that it is not Your will that anyone should be lost, and that Your Holy Spirit continues to convict us of sin, righteousness, and judgement. May we who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ, be ready and willing to be a good testimony to all with whom we come in contact so that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. In Jesus' name, AMEN. Memories of Christian brothers and sisters should be bathed in love and grace, forgiveness and faith, care and compassion, joy and thanksgiving. The joy of the Lord is indeed our strength, and joy in the Lord should flood our beings when we remember all that He has done for us all and the good work that He has started in each of His blood-bought children. In a depressed world that is increasingly focused on 'self', how important to rejoice in the Lord always, to remember that our blessings come to us continuously from God, to be increasingly thankful for the brothers and sisters He has placed in our path and to lift up one another in prayer and praise with grateful thanks and gracious hearts. No matter what trials and tribulations may come in our pathway, we should develop the same mindset that Paul demonstrated, in his letter to the Philippians. May we use every opportunity to gossip the Gospel, to encourage one another with hymns and prayers and spiritual conversation.. and may we always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in our heart. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for Your Church, which is the body of Christ and the family of God into which we have been born-again. As we lift up the pressing needs and requests of our brothers and sisters in Christ, may our prayers be bathed in love and grace, forgiveness and faith, care and concern. And may we always remember to lift our prayers with joyful thanks and grateful praise, in Christ’s name we pray, AMEN. No matter what you have said or done, you are accepted in the Beloved. No matter what sins you have committed or will commit in the future, you are accepted in the Beloved. No matter how gross your life was you remain accepted in Him and even if you stray far from God, He still accepts you in Christ. The truths that are packed into these early verses of the epistle to the Ephesians should rejoice our heart, steady our soul, dispel our doubts, and strengthen our faith, and we should thank Him continuously for our great salvation and the many precious promises that are ours in Christ. And we should rejoice: to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we just want to praise Your wonderful name for Your glorious grace toward us. You have made us accepted in Christ, and if we have all of eternity to thank You for this staggering privilege, it would not be enough. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN. Galatians confirms the reformers' premise that the Bible is the line for the truth, with Scripture being the sole authority in matters of faith as it relates to the salvation of the soul. It stresses that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ alone. It reminds us that salvation is for the glory of God alone, and that our salvation is the primary evidence of the outpouring of His undeserved grace and favor on all who believe. Let's all be ready and willing to study the Scriptures so that we know the truth. May we be willing to stand up for the gospel of Grace, when legalistic teachers tell us that salvation requires something in addition to faith. And they glorified God in me. Our United Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, we realize that adding anything to the simple message of salvation by grace through faith, is offensive to You and a devaluing of Christ's finished work on the Cross. Give us the wisdom to discern when legalists are teaching another gospel. Expose any false teaching and prevent us from being influenced away from the truth of the glorious gospel of grace. Thank You for the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN. It is the all-encompassing grace of God that is so treasured by believers, for having made peace with God we are enabled to receive the peace of God in our hearts and the ability to grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ: "For the grace of God has appeared," instructing us, guiding us, teaching us, and conforming us, day by day, into the likeness of Christ. Grace must always precede peace, for it is only by His grace that the sinner may have peace with God. And it is only by His grace that the believer can access His grace, continue in grace, and grow in grace so that we may have the peace of God which passes all understanding guarding our hearts and minds, as we live in Christ Jesus our Lord and His grace and peace is reflected in us. Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your grace and peace has been poured out on us in such abundance and on all who trust in the Lord Jesus. Thank You for Your saving grace, Your sanctifying grace, Your continuing grace, and Your all-encompassing grace. Thank You that we not only have peace with God, but that Your peace guards our hearts as we look to Jesus and focus on Him. In Jesus' name, AMEN. The little words every and all seem so insignificant, and yet what a tremendous reach they have in our lives and what joy should fill our hearts knowing that in EVERY way we are enriched in Jesus, not only in a few or some or many ways, but in every way. To enrich means to improve or enhance the quality or value of something. It gives us a deeper, fuller life experience or a more satisfying taste in a recipe. Should not we, who have been enriched in every way in Him, in all utterance and knowledge, show forth the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit in our lives from this day forward and henceforth? For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for enriching us in all possible ways, in Christ Jesus our Lord. We pray that we may live in a way that is pleasing to You in all speech and activity so that Your name is glorified in our lives, In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |

2 Corinthians 2:17
"Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God." |
