He leads us beside still waters and satisfies us with His goodness and grace.. and our youth is renewed like the eagle, when we reverence our God in the beauty of holiness. The Lord executes wonderful acts of righteousness and justice for all that are oppressed.. and in His grace, He has revealed His ways to the children of all. Let us never forget ALL that God has done for us, He is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and full of faithful love. He does not deal with us as our sins deserve nor does He repay us according to our offences. Indeed, eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered into the imagination of man, the wonderful things that God has prepared for those that love Him. Surely the goodness and mercy of God shall follow us all the days of our life, and we should not hesitate to delight to sing His eternal praises, and offer Him the thanksgiving and honor that is due to His holy name. Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind! Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You for the wonderful works of Your hands and the awesome deeds that You have done for us. Thank You that Jesus came to redeem us and to die in our place, so that we could be raised into newness of life, and live with You in the eternal ages to come. How awesome are Your works and how great is Your power. All the earth will worship You and sing praises to Your holy name, for You alone are worthy of our honor and thanksgiving, our worship and praise. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. This short, simple little verse instructs us to "get wisdom and to gain understanding." We are to acquire wisdom and to develop good judgement, but we must be aware that there are two sorts of wisdom after which a believer can follow – the wisdom of man, which is folly in the eyes of the Lord, and the wisdom of God, which makes for godly living and a life that is pleasing to Him. But the verse also warns us that having gained wisdom and knowledge, we must beware not to turn aside from the truth or stray from the godly path of righteousness. Christ is the wisdom of God, and He is also the power of God. When we gain Christ, we are walking in the way of truth and life and hope and peace. To learn of the unsearchable wisdom and knowledge of Christ should be our life-time desire, and we should seek Him with our whole being. Never let us become so familiar with Christ that we lose the desire to know Him more, to turn our backs from Him, or to wander from the Way of wisdom and understanding – Whom to know is life eternal. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we long to know the Lord Jesus more and more, in Him are all the riches of Your wisdom. Develop in us an insatiable desire to know Jesus more and more. In His name we pray, AMEN. The truth that flows from this joyful psalm of David should be the experience and pronouncement of every soul, without His life there is nothing other than death, without His loving-kindness there is only sadness and misery, and without His refreshment there is a dark dryness of the soul. Let us earnestly seek the Lord in the dryness of our own lives, knowing He is the source of living water and the sanctuary for the weary soul. Let us all fill our hearts with the joy of the Lord and sing spiritual songs with our lips and in our lives, to the praise of His wonderful name. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for the example of David and others who remind us, day by day, that You are a covenant-keeping God whose never-failing loving-kindness is greater than life itself. May we live our lives to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Godly wisdom comes from the Lord and enables the one who is endowed with wisdom to discern what is good, to distinguish between what is true and what is false, and to judge that which is godly and righteous. The principles of gaining godly wisdom are laid down in Scripture, for we are told to trust in the Lord with all our heart and to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all we need will be provided - including godly wisdom. There is much written in the Word of God about wisdom, and the young Solomon who was endowed by God with the greatest gift of wisdom, passed on a lot of wise instruction to his sons, much of which he had learned from his father, king David. Like his father, Solomon knew that a child that has been trained up in the way he should go and taught the truth of Scripture, will not depart from it when they are old. Then he taught me, and he said to me, “Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise words that we find in the book of Proverbs. Help us to pay attention to gaining wisdom and understanding, knowing that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Thank You that in Christ dwells all the treasures of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Give us a teachable spirit and we pray that we may continue to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus from this day forward and forevermore. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. We must secure our undivided confidence in the Lord our God, He alone is the foundation upon which our hope is established, our source of supply, our fountain of grace, and from Him alone flow rivers of living water. God alone is the only One in Whom our trust must be continuously founded, for He alone is worthy. May our souls also wait in silence for God - from Him alone is our salvation. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the cloud of witnesses that demonstrated a quiet confidence in You. Hush our hearts today and help us, like them, to fix the thoughts of our minds and the meditation of our hearts on You alone as we quietly wait in silence for You, knowing You are our Rock of salvation, our Defense and our Defender. You are our Lord, our Life, our Way, and our all in all. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The man or woman who inclines their ear to godly wisdom is the one who is guarded from evil on their journey through life, and is enabled to speak the truth with knowledge and understanding. While the world delights in the wisdom of man, we discover that the wisdom of the wise is foolishness to the Lord, while spiritual illumination is the treasure that is poured into the heart of the man or woman of God, and biblical revelation is reserved for those that love the Lord and delight to do His will. Truly He is a wonderful God. His wisdom is pure wisdom, holy wisdom, godly wisdom, and eternal wisdom for all Who believe in Him. His knowledge is a storehouse of blessings to all of His children. His understanding is a table that is overflowing with good things, and all these good things are all found in Christ – Who is the wisdom of God and the power of God - and by grace through faith, we are one with Christ and He is of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You that we are in Christ, and that in Him is all the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that we need. May we grow in grace and wisdom, and may our knowledge and understanding of You increase more and more in the coming days. In Jesus’ name we Pray, AMEN. When exercising faith through petition or intercession and by standing on the promises of God as undeniable certainties, we have that inner assurance that God hears and answers our prayer. His ears are open to our cries for help and He responds to the faintest sigh of His people. We have legitimate access to the throne of grace through Christ, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. We have the confident assurance that when we pray into the will of the Father, in the name of Jesus, and the power of the Spirit, our prayers will be heard and answered. We have the seal of the Holy Spirit in our lives as a pledge and guarantee of the promised inheritance that is the right of all who fear His name. For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name. Our United Prayer:
O Lord our Heavenly Father, thank You that You hear the cries of Your children and that Your ears are ever open to the pleas, petitions, and prayers of those who reverence Your name, acknowledge Your perfections, and praise You for Your goodness and grace. May we who are called by Your name, adore and admire You in our daily lives, and serve You in all the circumstances of life, in spirit and in truth - both in our inner being and through our external bodies. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN. In this verse, we are to make our ear attentive to wisdom and incline our heart to understanding. And throughout the Word of God, we discover that, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom," and that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is the power of God and the wisdom of God, to all who believe - and we are one with Him. The first, important step towards acquiring godly wisdom, is to recognize one's lack of... and to understand that God is the only one that can supply the knowledge and understanding we need - according to His riches in glory. We live in a world that idolizes self-sufficiency and rejects the eternal truth of the glory of God... and yet we are to find our full sufficiency in Christ , in Him dwells all the fullness we need. So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Our United Prayer:
Give us understanding hearts, We pray, Heavenly Father, and ears that are open to Your Word. Help us, in all things, to make our hearts attentive to Your wisdom - and we pray that we may not be mesmerized by the foolish wisdom of the world, but resolutely seek the Lord with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our strength for Your eternal praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. He has scheduled every day of our lives and knows the tears that will result from the afflictions of His people. Our times are in His hands and we have a God Who knows and loves and cares for everything that causes His children pain. Even in these times of deep sadness and distress, we can, like our Savior, gain a closer intimacy with our Father through the things that we suffer in obedience to His will. The wonderful thing is that through it, we will gain a closeness to His heart of love, and a depth of understanding of our God that we never imagined possible, God has promised that the day is coming when sorrow will be turned into joy and tears will be turned into laughter. A day when He Himself will wipe away every wet tear from our eye-lashes. You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your compassionate mercy toward us. Thank You that You care so deeply about everything that causes us pain, that You have put our tears in a bottle. Thank You that You know so intimately about everything that causes our tears and that in You, we can find our true source of comfort. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. To rejoice in hope is to have that unfaltering assurance in God's Word as fact, knowing that our hope of glory is secured for us in heavenly places for the eternal ages to come, simply because God's Word is true and cannot be broken. Our hope is built on nothing less than trusting in the Cross of Christ and taking God at His Word. To be patient in tribulation is to know and accept that in this world we will have tribulation, but to wait patiently in our suffering without murmurings. We are to be of good cheer, knowing that His strength is sufficient to see us through every difficulty of life because He has already overcome sin and death – and we are united with Him and His victory. To be constant in prayer is to recognize that prayer is one of the chief weapons of the spiritual warfare in which all Christians are engaged. As saints of God we should all be instant in prayer, constantly lifting our hearts and voice to the Lord in prayers of thanks and praise and intercession and requests, and laying them before the throne of God's grace in the name of JESUS - knowing that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God and the godly instructions that are laid out for us. Please help us to rejoice in hope, endure in tribulation, and persevere in prayer, as we press on to the goal of our calling. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We journey through a fallen world with many dangerous pitfalls, slippery places, and dark foes seeking to destroy our close fellowship with our Lord, but in Psalm 119, we are given a beautiful promise and an eternal truth... that God's Word is a gleaming lamp to our feet that will guide us through the darkness of this fallen world and it is a shining light to brighten the pathway we take. Not only are there external difficulties and dangers to face in life's journey, but also there are internal failings and weaknesses that lurk deep within our souls which can cause us to walk away from our 'First Love'... but God's Word provides a sure foundation upon which to stand in a darkened world that is falling apart. The Bible is the sure Word of the living God, Who has told us the end from the beginning, and all God’s children do well to take heed to its precious pages as unto a light that shines in a dark place. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your written Word which provides us with such strength for today and great hope for tomorrow. As we step out into the darkness of this fallen world, we pray that Your Word would truly lighten the way we take and lead us down the path of righteousness. Help us to hide its truths in our hearts, and be ready and willing to follow Your will for our lives as we face the difficulties and trials that lie ahead of us. Thank You for Your Word of light and truth in this world we live in today. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. It was through sin that darkness entered the heart of man, and it is through the Light of God's Son, that sin and death and darkness was overcome. He came as the Light that will never be extinguished in the heart, soul, and mind, of those who place their trust in the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ Jesus is that LIGHT that has been shining from eternity past, and it is only through Him that God's light, life, love, hope, joy, and peace will flow, God has decreed that Christ is all in all. May we bathe in the glorious light of His love for the eternal ages to come, and reflect His light in this darkened world and permit His love to flow through us to others - until we are nothing and He is everything. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that the Light of Jesus shines into our hearts, we trust Him alone as our Savior and Lord. May the light of Your love shine through us to others, for Your praise and glory, until it is not us that shines in our lives, but the light of Christ shining through us. This we ask in Jesus' precious name, AMEN. The very God of gods, Who is eternal in substance and holy in nature, leads us beside still waters, and provides the refreshment we need - spirit, soul, and body, as we travel through life. He never fails to satisfy our days and years with good things - moment by moment we are kept secure in His love. The Lord's concern for each one of us is likened to the tenderness a father has for his beloved son or daughter. The loving compassion of every earthly father is completely eclipsed by the tender-hearted grace that God shows to each of His own. He knows our various weaknesses. He knows our human frame, our inner frailties, and is mindful that we are but dust. Yet in His mercy and grace, He has rescued us from a miry pit and bestowed on us such riches of His grace, that we should be forever glorifying His holy name. Let us never forget that just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on all of us who fear Him - and He is worthy to receive ALL the honor and praise, forever and ever. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that you are such a wonderful, compassionate Father to all Your children. Thank You that You know our inner frailties and remember that we are but dust. We praise and thank You for the many benefits and graces that You bestow on us day by day and moment by moment. Thank You for the loving care you have towards us and for the many benefits that are ours, by faith in Jesus. May we never hold these things lightly and bless Your holy name for Your goodness and grace. This we pray in Jesus' name, AMEN. God is faithful to bring us to an understanding of our own weakness so that when our faith is tested and tried, we will not rely on ourselves but on His strength to establish us and develop in us a more secure faith in Christ. God in His grace will use that trial to strengthen and develop our faith - and this is achieved when we are obedient to His Word and choose to keep the old sin nature, with all its sinful lusts nailed to the cross , so that we are not conformed to the world but are being transformed daily by the renewing of our minds.. as we look for Christ's any day return. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the words and wisdom in the words of Peter. Give us a greater insight into the way that You use problems and pain, trials and tribulation to develop in us a faith that is precious to You, which when tried in affliction, it comes forth as pure gold. Help us to embrace the difficulties of life with a sober and stable mind that is rooted and grounded on the Word of God, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. How precious are the trusting hearts of little children, and how much we can learn from their innocent example, of the need to develop a total trust in God, and show pure delight in the Lord Jesus Christ, this blesses the heart of God and honors His holy name. Today, Christ's arms of welcome are wide open to whosoever will, but all too often, adult pride and developed falsity keep us far from His tender embrace. But it is those with poverty of spirit, humility of heart, and a childlike faith in them, that can approach His throne of grace, with a simplicity that is so precious to our Lord. Let us in the power of His Holy Spirit, seek to develop that childlike disposition that is birthed from simple trust in His faithful Word, both here on earth and in His eternal kingdom, the life that reflects the Lord Jesus is the child of God that gives glory to the Father. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, how we long to be more child-like in our attitudes, with the sort of faith that trusts You like a child, and whose hearts are ever open towards You. Teach us, Lord, to live in purity of heart and gentleness of spirit, so that Jesus may be reflected through us, to those with whom we come in contact today. This we ask in His name and for His glory, AMEN. |
