The Sabbath was designed to restore and reinvigorate the people after the toil of the previous week's work. It was given so that they might have a period of leisure in order to meditate on the Scriptures and rejoice in God's goodness and grace. It was not designed to trip men up, but to refresh them. The Sabbath was given for the benefit of man and not the other way around, which is why we read that Jesus said to them. "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are not bound by religious laws and legalistic practices, but have been made a new creation in Christ. He is our Sabbath rest, not only during our time on earth, but in the eternal ages to come. Thank You that we are not bound by the burdensome rules and regulations of the Law, but have recognized that the Law was a tool You used to point sinners to Jesus Christ. In Christ, we find true rest and refreshment as we abide in Him and He in us. May we worship You in spirit and truth every day of the week, and take every opportunity to meet with others as we worship You together and enjoy Christian fellowship in our Homes, Churches, Chapels and Communities. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. We will discover within these days we have in our world, a little oasis of hope with a fountain of refreshment: "For the one who trusts in God, will be like a tree planted by rivers of water. They will remain green and fruitful and not worry in the year of drought." We are called to be faithful in the work that God has given us to do. We are not to become discouraged if our life appears dull or our ministry seems unfruitful. We are called to be faithful to the point of death and we will receive healing, deliverance, and the eternal reward that God has prepared for those that love and trust Him. "Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for your words which has so much to teach us of your plans and purposes for mankind and Your goodness and grace toward us. May we learn from our mistakes and be guided into godly living. Thank You that You can be trusted to fulfil Your promises to Your people and to correct us when we go astray. We pray that we will be faithful in the work You have given for us to do, and thank You that in You is healing, wholeness, hope, and joy, for You are our God and are worthy of all praise, AMEN. Our hope in Christ is not only a future expectation, but it is already our present possession, when we were saved by grace through faith in Christ, we were made children of God, citizens of heaven and joint-heirs with Christ. At salvation, we received eternal life ,as a present possession today, and were promised eternal life in ages to come. Nothing is as sure as the Word of God, He cannot lie and in due time God will fulfill His Word to the letter. Let us rejoice and be glad that God has given us eternal life both now and in the ages to come - which is ours through our faith in Christ Jesus our Savior. "In hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that eternal life is not only a sure hope for the future, but is already our present possession today. Thank You for Your promise of eternal life to all who have trusted Christ as Savior. And thank You that Your Word is true, and Your promises stand fast forever and ever. We pray that as Your ambassadors on earth, we may live as a worthy citizen of heaven, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN. May our work of faith be actively dependent on Him. May our labour of love become a living sacrifice that honors our Father in thought, word, and deed, and may the steadfastness of our hope in Christ Jesus our Lord, stimulate others to work the works of faith, to labor in love, and to remain steadfast in the blessed hope we have in the Lord Jesus - in the presence of our God and Father. "We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder we gain from the lives of the Thessalonian Christians whose work of faith, labor of love, and steadfast hope in the Lord Jesus Christ, is an example to us all of godly living that honors You. We pray that we may grow in grace and in a knowledge of Christ Jesus our Savior and do all for Your greater praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Let us rejoice and be glad for God is our Defense and our Defender. He is our Refuge in the days of our troubles and our Stronghold from the storms of life. From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, may we worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness and bow down before Him, for His name is greatly to be praised. "But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble." Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the book of Psalms that so often comforts our souls in difficult times and refreshes our hearts in distressing circumstances. Help us not to focus on life's external problems nor the internal doubts that can enter our minds and cause us to fear. Help us, Lord, to bring to mind Your precious promises of refreshment and supply, and to cast all our burdens on You. Praise the Lord O our souls and all that is within us praise Your glorious name. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. As we continue on our journey through life, we will be required to face even greater challenges and more rigorous difficulties. But we are to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, by putting on Christ and standing firm by abiding in Him, knowing that His grace is sufficient for the greatest challenges we may meet, and being fully assured God is the one Who is going with us, for He has promised, "I will never leave You nor forsake You. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Our United Prayer:
Thank You, loving Father, that You never change. Help us to abide in Christ, knowing that His grace is sufficient for every challenge in life. May we learn the lessons You desire to teach us so that we may mature in the faith by trusting Your Word and obeying Your commands. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The outward appearances of a many may deceive us.. but God alone understands the heart. We may not even know the true content of our own hearts, but the Lord our God knows what is in the heart of each one of us. We are all fallen creatures and although we praise and thank God that we have been saved by grace through faith in Christ. That we have been made a new creation in Him and have been given His resurrected life. As believers who are living in the dispensation of grace, we have the Holy Spirit in our heart, Who will never leave us nor forsake us - and He can never be taken away from us. Nevertheless, knowing that the heart is more deceitful than anything else and desperately wicked, we should always check to see if we are trusting in anything other than the Lord Jesus. "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are Your children and have been saved by grace through faith in Christ - nonetheless it is uncomfortable to realize that like all others.. our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked. We pray that You would search our hearts; our motives; our conscious thoughts - and even our unconscious imaginings, to see if there is anything in us that needs to be rooted out. Purify our hearts we pray, in Jesus name, AMEN. The beauty and goodness of light is always contrasted with the ugliness and disturbing features of darkness.. for some love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. Light is always identified as holy and good. Christ is the light of the world, Who has poured the light of salvation and the light of His eternal life into the heart of all who believe in Him. The light of God is always presented in the Bible as the antithesis of evil. The significance of light being the very first thing that was spoken into being on that first days of creation, points us back to God, light symbolizes His holiness, His presence, His favor and His grace. But it also points us forward to Jesus the light of the world, Who is the light of life. We read in the Bible that the fruit of the light results in all goodness, grace, righteousness, and truth. "And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ is our light and the light of our lives. Thank You that in Him the blackness in our hearts has been replaced with the light of the glorious gospel of grace and that we have been saved from the kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of Your dear Son. May we be lights shining in a dark world as witnesses of Your goodness and grace - to Your praise and glory in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. Prayer is not sitting for a few minutes with your hands folded, and eyes shut tight. Prayer is the tool we have been given to prepare us for the work God has called us to do and to ensure that we are well-prepared when faced with a crisis. Prayer is not meant to be saved for a rainy day or only used in an emergency. Prayer is our lifeline to the Lord and we should develop a habit of ceaseless prayer. Continuous, ceaseless, prayer is not being engaged in a prayer closet 24/7, but is developing a habit of prayer. It is initiating a mindset of prayer... of keeping the lines of communication to the Lord open and clean, as we walk in spirit and truth and abide in Christ, moment by moment. "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we are blessed with Your grace and mercy to us. Thank You that we have the right to lay at Your feet our needs and those of others. Increase our understanding of the great privilege of prayer that has been granted to all Your children, and we pray that we increasingly devote our lives to You in prayer, praise, and grateful thanks. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. The Word of the Lord not only refers to the scriptures but also to the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of the Father, the eternal Son of God, He is the only eternally abiding reality in this world - and in the world to come, life everlasting. Let us read, mark, learn, inwardly digest and take to heart all that He is and all that He has to say, and let us apply all that he teaches us, into our daily lives. "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your Living Word and Your Written Word. We pray we would love Your Word more every day, and that we will understand the blessing of hiding Your Word in our hearts. Thank You for Your everlasting grace and mercy toward foolish, frail humanity, and thank You that Your Word stands forever. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN. His Word not only brightens our pathway, guards us on our journey through life, and warns us of each lurking danger, but it is a treasure-trove of precious gemstones to be hidden deep within our heart. It contains words of wisdom to guide our thinking, precious promises to encourage our hearts, instructions on how to live as the Lord desires us to live, and it is the perfect pattern for living as well as the qualified adjudicator of our daily conduct. The Bible is the sure Word of the living God, Who has told us the end from the beginning, and all God’s children do well to take heed to its precious pages as unto a light that shines in a dark place. "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your written Word which provides us with such strength for today and great hope for tomorrow. As we step out into the darkness of this fallen world, we pray that Your Word would truly lighten the way we take and lead us in the path of righteousness. Help us to hide its truths in our hearts, and may we be ready and willing to follow Your will for our lives as we face the difficulties and trials that lie ahead, in the strength of Your mighty power. Thank You for Your Word of light and truth in this dark world. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Without the Lords loving-kindness there is only sadness and misery, and without His refreshment there is a dark dryness of the soul. Let us earnestly seek the Lord in the dryness of our own lives, knowing He is the source of living water and the sanctuary for the weary soul. Let's fill our hearts with the joy of the Lord and sing spiritual songs with our lips and in our lives, to the praise of His wonderful name. "Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you." Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for the example in this verse, Psalm 63:3, and those who remind us, day by day, that You are a covenant-keeping God whose never-failing loving-kindness is greater than life itself. May we live our lives to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Those who have been saved through faith are those who: inherit Salvation. We were justified in the sight of God when we first believed. We were set apart unto God and are being sanctified during our earthly life and one day our salvation will be completed when we are glorified.. and angels are directed by God to minister to those who have humbly and reverently trusted in Christ as Savior. Our salvation is a gift of God. We did nothing to merit the inheritance that is promised to all who trust in the name of the only begotten Son of the Father.. and it is God alone and not us who instructs the heavenly host to minister to those that are to inherit salvation. We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ and will one day we will reign in His glorious kingdom. "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, what a privilege to be adopted into Your family as a child of God and to be made joint-heir with Christ by Your grace - simply through believing in Jesus as our God and Savior, Who alone is worthy of all worship and praise. Thank You for the angelic host and the wonderful role that they play in Your eternal plans and purposes and thank You that it is not because of our merits but the righteousness of Christ that You send forth angels as ministering spirits to all who will inherit salvation - we praise and thank You.. for You alone are worthy, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. Trusting in the Lord and hoping in Him is being certain of the existence of things we cannot see. What glorious joy is realized by the one that trusts implicitly in the Lord and places their eternal hope in Him. Blessed is the one who embraces these two gifts of grace, which abide forever - for faith and hope unlock our understanding of God's pure love for all His children. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we realize more and more, the rich blessings that are received by those who trust in Your Word and place their eternal hope in You. Help us to live by faith and not by sight, so that You become increasingly the focus of our hearts and joy of our lives. Develop in us that child-like trust in You that pleases Your heart of love. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We compare Faith to the wind or a simple comforting breeze. We are unable to see the wind or breeze we can only see and feel the effects, this is what Faith in God our Lord and savior is. Thru Faith of the unseen, we feel and see the effects in our daily lives. Let's share what we have with those in need of a New Life in Jesus. May the hope we have in Christ and the faith we have in God be built on the truth of His Word and grounded on a sure conviction. May we never stumble when situations seem to go amiss, and may we be firmly persuaded that, "He who started a good work in each of our lives is well able to bring it to completion." "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we can be so entrenched in our own thinking that sometimes we doubt Your Word and question Your promises, often wishing we had some concrete 'proof’ of Your love for us – and yet Your Word gives us all the affirmation of this absolute reality we need – for Your Word and Promises are sure and Your faithfulness stretches beyond the limits of time. Thank You for the gift of faith, and we pray that day by day our loving trust in You and the reality of Your Word will become increasingly established within our hearts, for we long to please You in all we say and do and are. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
