It is only by trusting in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, that we can be reborn as a new-creation in Him, with a clean heart. It is only by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and our identification with HIM that we can be declared righteous by God and have the righteousness of Christ imputed to us. We never need fear that the Holy Spirit will depart from us, since the Cross, He takes up permanent residence within each born-again believer. However, we can resist the Spirit, quench the Spirit, or even grieve the Spirit of God, which not only causes our fellowship with the Father to be broken, but can suppress our joy and steal the perfect peace of God within. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that in Your wisdom You do not renew and restore the old fallen sin-nature in Adam, but You give us a new nature, a new, born-again life, received through faith in Christ. Thank You for the lessons we can learn from your words. Thank You for the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and we pray that You would point out all the areas in our lives that grieve You or quench Your ongoing work within. Create in us clean hearts in this new year we pray, and renew a steadfast spirit within us, and may Christ be seen in us as we submit to Your Spirit's leading and do only those things we hear from Him. In Christ's name we pray, AMEN. God will never leave you nor forsake you. The Lord will continue to love His people unconditionally. The secret to a victorious life is to submit to the ways and workings of the Lord, to yield to His testing's in life and to surrender to the rod of His chastening so that we are able to say, "When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold." This is no less true for the Church today as it was for Israel in those distant, distressing days. God is GOOD to those that wait for Him, to those that submit to His perfect will, to those that trust in His unfailing Word. God is GOOD to the person who searches for Him, for He is not far from any of us and He will be found by us - if we search for Him with all our heart. The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. Our United Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unconditional love, Your goodness, and Your loving-kindness to us and to all that are called by Your name. Great is Your faithfulness, and we praise You for You alone are worthy. Help us to patiently wait for You in humble submission to Your Holy Spirit, by trusting Your Word of grace even when we don’t understand, for You are good to those who wait for You. Help us to seek You with all our hearts. In Jesus' name, AMEN. God is never late, but is always there at the right time, the best time, the needed time. His appointed time. And so, it was at the right time that Christ died. Some wonder why there was such a long time between the fall of Adam and the sacrifice of Christ, but in God's economy, it was the right time for you and me, and the right time for humanity as a whole. How can we doubt His love, He died for us when we were undesirable, unlovely, and unlovable? But because of His great love, He came as our representative to be a pattern for our learning, living His life in the power of the Spirit, to demonstrate how we too should live. Let us all be comforted in our own lives when we desire His workings, and it seems that He has delayed or is long overdue. In God's economy, He will act at the right time, the best time. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, praise Your holy name, for when we are weak and in the pit of despair, You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, at the right time, to be our strength and our lives. In His name, we thank You and praise You, AMEN. In so much of the Word of God we discover the little word 'BUT'. This tiny conjunction joins two thoughts together through stark contrast. Often we read of the foolishness, fretfulness, disobedience, and rebellion of sinful man, but then in contrast we read of the faithfulness, graciousness, and long-suffering of the Lord. As we seek to grow in grace and live godly in Christ Jesus, let us choose to adopt an attitude in stark contrast with the foolish, fretful, disobedient, and rebellious ways of the world, and discover the unfathomable value of that little word 'BUT'. BUT as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. BUT as for me, I will watch expectantly for the LORD. But as for me I will wait for the God of my salvation and My God will hear me. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we choose to serve You in spirit and truth and to watch and wait expectantly for You. Help us to make the right choices in our lives, and thank You that even when we prove faithless, You are faithful and true. Praise Your holy name! AMEN. Some do not believe the Lord will ever return because of the centuries that have rolled by without His return, yet Peter dismantles their unfounded reasoning, for time in God's economy is very different from man's perception of time. God is eternal and man is finite, and his life-span is but a breath in comparison with God Who was and is and ever shall be. Despite the truth of God's Word and the many declarations of God's great glory and power that pour forth praise to Him from the heavens above and the mountains beneath, mankind is willfully ignorant, deliberately choosing to dethrone God from their lives and enthrone king self, thus severing their lifeline to their only means of escape. Let us redeem the time we have left and use our days wisely, as we wait for the glorious day when we will see Him face to face. But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Our United Prayer:
Loving Lord, how wonderful You are. Thank You that You created time, but You are not constrained by it. Thank You that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Give us patience as we expectantly wait for Your any day return to rapture Your Bride, knowing that Your timing is always perfect. And may we rest in You, knowing our time is in Your hands. In Jesus' name, AMEN. This verse is a simple, yet timely reminder, that we are to live by faith in the Word of Truth, and to trust God's judgement in all things. He sends blessings on the just and unjust alike, and He takes the foolish schemes and rebellious actions of all and turns them to His greater glory, in order to fulfill His ultimate plan and purpose, which is that Christ is all in all. For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that You know the end from the beginning and that everything under heaven is within Your authority. Thank You, that You are in control of all that is happening in our own lives and the wider world in general. May we trust You through all the circumstances of life and as we seek Your face in prayer and praise, may we learn more and more to pray, "Thy will be done in our lives and throughout the world." In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We may have to face difficulties and dangers, and be called upon to experience tragedies, disappointments, persecutions, and even death. Indeed, the Lord Jesus Himself reminded us that in this fallen, groaning world we will suffer tribulation. But we also have His unfailing assurance that the blood of Christ has overcome sin, the world, and the devil, and that every single circumstance of our individual life, as well as the global, satanic plans of the enemy are all working together for God's glory and for the eternal good of ALL who are called according to the purposes of God, we all have a purpose in God's plans. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we have been called according to Your plan and purpose, for it is not Your will that any should perish, but that all should come to faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thank You, Lord, that You are causing all things to work together to finally achieve Your great redemptive plan and purpose for mankind. And thank You, Lord, that so often we see Your gracious hand working in our lives and in the lives of all Your children, as You gently transform us into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name, AMEN. Although everyone is born into the human race, and is given the opportunity to become a child of God, many do not receive Him. They refuse to believe in His sacrificial offering on the Cross of Calvary, as payment for their sins, and they are not permitted to become His children. But to all who have received Him as their sin-substitute, down through centuries of time, by believing on His name, He has given the right and the authority to become children of God. There is only one way to be saved - "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." There is only one way to become a child of God - "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be given the right to become a child of God." There is only one way to be born-again - "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we may call You Father, because we are Your children, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Shine more of His light into our hearts, so that we come to know You more and to love You better each and every day. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN. When we live godly lives, bear the rejection and unkind behaviour of others worthily, and when we suffer as a Christian, we are not to be ashamed of the gospel of God. Let us be willing to recognize that when the world persecutes God's children, we have the privilege of 'fellowshipping' in the suffering of Christ Who did so much for us, and in so doing, we glorify His holy name. May we never forget that when we suffer as a Christian, it is for Christ's sake that we suffer. Never be ashamed of our great God and Savior but rejoice that our suffering glorifies His holy name. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Lord Jesus Christ and all that He has done for us. Thank You that in Him, we have eternal life and are secure in Your hands, no matter what we may have to suffer in this life. Thank You that by His blood, we have been fully and finally redeemed and forgiven of our sins. We pray that those who abuse us and cause us to suffer because of our faith in Jesus, may be convicted of their sin and come to a saving faith in Christ. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for everything we may have to face. May our lives bring honor to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN. Although certain Scriptures may hold a special significance for different Christians or speak to an individual on a personal level, no-one has the right to spiritualise Scripture or to insist on their own personal interpretation to promote their own narrow doctrinal dictates. Similarly, the Word of God must never be subjected to multiple interpretations. Indeed, the Bible cannot be correctly interpreted without the Holy Spirit's guidance, although unfortunately there are many that twist and distort it for their own gain, and to the detriment of many in the Body of Christ. The Bible is a direct revelation from God to us, and is unique among all other writings. God communicated His message to man through Scripture, sent His Son to fulfil Scripture, and gave us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. We would do well to take His Word seriously, and study to show ourselves approved unto God, as we examine the Scriptures day by day. Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your Word, that breathes life and power into our hearts. As we read Your Word, we pray that You would lead and guide us into all truth. Teach and train us in right thinking, protect us from error and keep us ever humble in Your sight. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN. Indeed, God gives the ones who trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, peace with God and He will keep the believers in Christ Jesus covered in His own perfect peace, by giving us the peace of God which transcends human understanding. Let us ensure that the thoughts of our hearts are fixed on the Lord Jesus moment by moment as we take every thought captive to Him, for God has promised to keep in perfect peace all who trust in Him and fasten the eyes of their hearts upon Him. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we pray that the thoughts of our hearts and the meditation of our minds would be centered on You, moment by moment, so that the righteousness and peace of Christ will touch our lives as we walk in spirit and truth, in the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, AMEN. Do we love the Giver even more that the gracious gifts that He has poured in abundance to us? Do we seek the Lord Himself in preference to the multiplied blessings and precious promises that are ours, by grace through faith in Christ? Do we unreservedly confess our dependence upon the Lord and unconditionally acknowledge Him to be sovereign in our life? Do we cast all our cares on Him? Do we, lie down in peace and sleep secure in the knowledge that He is in control? In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we have scarce scratched the surface of Your grace and goodness toward us, in that You sent Your only begotten Son to die on the Cross to pay the punishment that we deserve. Our love is poor and weak, and our thoughts and prayers are too often motivated from selfish desires and a lack of understanding of Who You are and what You have done for us. Increase our desire and love for You, and help us to become "people after God's own heart" desiring You above all things. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. What a blessed comfort this verse has been to multitudes of believers in Christ, down through the ages, who have rested on these words and had their hearts stilled in the presence of the Lord. What refreshment these simple words have bestowed on many little lambs who have listened to the voice of their Good Shepherd, that Great Shepherd of the sheep Who opens His arms wide to embrace all who will trust in His name. Although the nations rage like the billows of the sea and the people imagine a vain thing against the Lord God Almighty, we are called to be still in the presence of the Lord and to know Him in our heart by faith, with thanksgiving. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Our United Prayer:
Father, we praise You that Your Word stands fast for ever and ever and that Your precious promises encourage us to rest in Your love and drink deeply from the Rock of our salvation. Draw near to every member of Christ's Body and protect Your people against the increasing roar of the nations. We pray for the salvation of the lost and for Your soon return, when Your name will be exalted throughout all the earth and the nations will KNOW that You are God. This we ask in the name of Jesus, AMEN. What beautiful truths are shared about our new life in Christ, where we discover that we are all members of His Body, united together in Him, free from bondage to sin and the curse of the law, each one with his own distinctive gifts and ministries, but each looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. We are to put on a heart of compassion and bring forth the spiritual fruit of kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, and we are to bear with one another in love, forgiving each other with grace, just as God in Christ has forgiven us. Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You that even though we were dead in trespasses and sins and at enmity with You, we are called by You and chosen to be children of God and joint-heirs with Christ. Thank You that we are washed in the blood of the Lamb, by grace through faith in Him, and have been made a new creations in Christ and eternally positioned in Him, to Your praise and glory. Thank You that we have been set apart for His glory, and we pray that in Him, we would put on hearts of compassion and kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, so that Christ is all in our lives. In Jesus' name, AMEN. The word, 'prosperity' today nearly always refers to material wealth… but in context, we see that it is this dear man's physical health and bodily condition that John is praying will prosper. John's prayer is that Gaius' physical health will reflect his obvious spiritual strength and Christian maturity. This verse clearly contradicts the distorted teaching of certain 'prosperity teachers' and 'faith-healers' who insist that if sick people do not recover, it is due to a lack of faith, or that if you are materially poor, you are not a spiritual believer because God wants all Christians to be materially wealthy! Such teaching is false and biblically incorrect. Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the exemplary life of Gaius and this precious blessing written to Him. Thank You that You call us beloved and for all the blessings You pour into our lives. We pray that our souls would prosper with the riches of knowing You. We pray that, day by day, we would come to a deeper knowledge of the Lord Jesus as He increases in our lives, and we decrease. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. |
