PRAYING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY
Although we may not know the meaning and mystery of all that we are called upon to bear in this world, let us all remember that we may not understand what is happening now, but hereafter we shall know as we are known. Let us learn, that what may be shadowed to our understanding today is being used by God to work together for good, to His praise and for our eternal benefit. In the meantime, let us patiently submit to His will and depend on Him in all things. Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for this precious picture in the upper room, when in humble submission to the Father’s will, the Lord Jesus laid aside His garment and began to wash the feet of His bewildered disciples. Lord, there are many times in our lives that we do not understand the reason that You allow certain things to happen, but help us to simply trust You in all things and enable us to pray, Open our understanding to all that You are seeking to teach us, and may we grow in grace as we submit to Your will for our lives. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We are given the freedom to choose when and how to worship and we have the liberty to choose what to eat or what to wear. We are not required to approach the Lord in a set way, once a year, through an earthly priesthood, to have our sins covered. We have the freedom to approach the throne at any time... for mercy to find help in time of need. Let us rejoice in the liberty we have in Christ while learning to be considerate towards the needs and sensitivities of others. Let's recognize that there are actions and behaviors that may be OK for us while they are not for others. May we respect the choices and decisions of others who lack the freedom we enjoy in our lives and be careful not to judge others who, for some reason, are less in their faith. "One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You for the freedom we have in Christ... that we are not under the restrictions of the Law but under the freedom of grace. We pray that we would make the choices in our lives that honor You in all we do. Help us to be mindful of the needs of others who may be weaker in the faith or do not enjoy the freedom and liberty we have in Him. Give us a sensitive spirit to the needs of others and keep us from any criticism of others who make different choices in the non-essentials of the faith. Keep us low at the Cross and broken before You for His name's sake. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The innumerable stars in a boundless space, which extends far beyond the reaches of mortal eye and contains immeasurably more that our limited imagination can consider, each have their appointed place in God's overall plan. How insignificant we seem in comparison to this vast universe, and how unimportant we appear in contrast with the creative glories that are displayed in God’s universe – and yet we are the vehicle through whom the plans and purposes of God were conceived before the foundation of the earth in the eternal council chambers of heaven. "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place," Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we stand amazed when we consider the insignificance of us in the context of the splendors of the extended universe, and yet, You love us so much that You gave Your only begotten Son to pay the price for our sins. For this we give You eternal praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN. But we ourselves can too frequently be off-guard by leaving our first Love for the enticements of the world and the appetites of the flesh. Unless we are vigilant in our spiritual life, we can find ourselves walking in the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the way of sinners, and drinking from the broken cisterns of the world. Without due care, we can lapse in our spiritual walk and thus neglect our spiritual growth. How important, therefore, in these last days, to buckle on the whole armor of God, to stand fast in the faith, to persevere in tribulation, to be vigilant in prayer, and steadfast in praise with thanksgiving: "Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons," Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for this serious and important warning. We recognize how quickly we can be distracted from the truth of Your Word, enticed away into worldly pursuits, or rendered spiritually impotent by doctrines of demons. Keep us, we pray, and those that we love from the wiles of the enemy. Give us spiritual discernment and a determination to stand fast in the faith, to Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Simply rejecting this unspeakably precious gift from God, refusing to accept and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, results in everlasting condemnation, i.e. spiritual death, which means eternal separation from God, which Revelation tells us happens in the Lake of Fire. While-ever there is life, the unspeakably precious gift from God is still available to whosoever will accept God's indescribable gift, His only begotten Son. "Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!" Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the unspeakably precious gift of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ Who has been freely given to us and to all who will simply believe on His name. Father, the gift of Your only begotten Son is beyond all expression, beyond all measure, and beyond all bounds. We worship You for Your unspeakably precious gift to us. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
