By faith in Christ, we have overcome the ungodly world system that is saturated in sin and seeks to entrap us all in its many and varied temptations and enticements. And God has given us all we need to not only overcome the world - but also to overcome the flesh and the devil. Let us live and work to His praise and glory - for He alone deserves all honor and glory, for He alone is worthy. "For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and His sacrificial work on the Cross. Thank You that He has already overcome the world and that by faith in Him, we too are overcomers. Thank You that we have been born of the Spirit and have been clothed in His righteousness, and thank You that are are accepted in Christ. May we submit our lives to You entirely and live each day in spirit and truth, to Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name. AMEN. We should never translate our wants into our needs. Rather, live our lives on earth knowing that this life is fleeting and that our eternal home is in heaven. Be content with all that we receive and give God both the thanks and the glory for all His ongoing and abundant supply. May we also rejoice to be children of our great and generous God and be ready and willing to honor the Lord with all our possessions and finances. And may we become cheerful givers for the cause of the gospel, knowing that this honors the Lord Who will never fail to provide everything we need. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we stand amazed at Your gracious bounty, knowing that You care about both the little things that we need today, as well as the eternal blessings that are being laid up for us in heaven, for which we praise Your holy name. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Believers can produce good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do, as only believers have the Holy Spirit of God. When we abide in Christ, trust His Word, and walk in spirit and truth, we are demonstrating faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. When we submit our lives to the Spirit, day by day, we automatically do the good works that God has prepared for us to do, because it is God Who is working in us Himself, producing in our heart the desire to do the good works that He has prepared in advance for us to do, in the only way that is pleasing to Him (through the power of the Holy Spirit), until it is not I that do the good works but the new life of Christ within us. "For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." Our United Prayer:
Help us Lord to submit to Your Spirit so that we may carry out the good works that You have prepared for us to do in the only way that pleases You, which is Christ in us, the hope of glory, AMEN. The message of the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes... and Jesus Himself promised... that if HE was lifted up... and the gospel of God was spread abroad... the Spirit of God would draw all to the Lord Jesus. The salvation of another person's soul is not dependent on US... or the impressive words we use. We are simply called to share the Word and to tell the truth of the gospel of Christ. It is not our responsibility to 'save' someone. Salvation is the responsibility of the convicting work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. However, we who have been saved through our faith in Christ, do have a responsibility to share the good news with others - as led by the Holy Spirit, so that their faith and ours does not rest on man's wisdom but on the power of God - alone. "That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive us for the times that we have sought to do things in our own strength or tried to use our own powers of persuasion to lead others to Christ. Help us to share the truth of the gospel, simply and truthfully, as led by the Spirit of God, so that our faith and theirs may be founded on the truth and not influenced by worldly rhetoric, to Your praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. How can you and I's Faith-Rest when our lives are shattered and the brokenness of our heart is hemorrhaging? We need to remember that the Word of God is life and health. His Word is true and trustworthy; His Word is perfect and pure, and His promises to us endure from one generation to another. And God has promised to "heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds." What He has done for others, He will do for you. Let us trust in His love, rest in His promises, and believe the truth of God's Word which tells us that "He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds," and He is able because He went to the Cross on our account, and shed His blood to become our substitute. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for Your promise to bind up our brokenness and heal our hurt. May we walk humbly before You, trusting Your many precious promises. As we continue to remember and pray for those effected on this day 21 years ago, we know that You are willing and able to carry us through any and every situation that life may throw at us. Thank You so much for Your loving-kindness toward us. In Jesus' name, AMEN. |
