Forgiveness is a matter that is Dear To The Heart Of Our Compassionate God, and forgiveness paid a tremendous part in the redemption of mankind. Forgiveness of sin is what fallen man yearns for and yet is incapable of receiving, unless he comes to the foot of the Cross and is washed clean by the blood of the Lamb, there is no forgiveness of sins except through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgiveness should be a subject to which we should also pay close attention. Forgiveness is one of the godly garments with which we have been covered and clothed, and our call to kindness, compassion, and forgiveness rests on the immeasurable forgiveness and mercy that each of us have received in Christ Jesus. Why is the act of forgiveness so difficult for some people? Why does it seem easier to let the root of bitterness grow in our heart, rather than humbling ourselves, asking for forgiveness, and forgiving another who has hurt or wronged us? It seems to be the case that those who are not able to forgive have never come to an understanding how much they have been forgiven. The more understanding we have of the grace that we have received, the deeper our gratitude and the greater our capacity to forgive other people becomes. Let us be those who are quick to forgive, quick to ask for forgiveness, and in doing so, we glorify our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Our United Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace, mercy, love, and immeasurable forgiveness towards us. May we reflect You in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We pray that we will be kind, compassionate, and forgiving toward others, just as You forgave us. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The enemy of our soul seeks to permeate every nook and cranny of Christian life. Indeed we know that the devil himself prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. That same, evil enemy, who is called the devil and Satan, will also try to approach us as an angel of light - through the means of deceptive people, false apostles and deceitful workers, who pretend that they are apostles of Christ - but their witness and faith are compromised. How important therefore that we are alert and be watchful against the enemy of our soul - not only for ourselves but on behalf of all our brothers and sisters in Christ - so that together we keep looking to Jesus - our blessed Hope. Like the Corinthians, we are also called to be brave and strong in our Christian walk. We are not to compromise our faith but to cling fast to that which is good, noble, right, pure, honorable and admirable. We do this as we trust in the Lord with all our heart. He is the Rock our Salvation and the Foundation upon which we stand. We are to be devoted to our brothers and sisters in Christ, we are one Body in Him. Indeed we are members of His Body and United Together In Him. Not only in this life but in the ages to come. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness to us and for instructing us how to live godly lives to Your praise and glory. May we stand firm in the faith and act in ways that does not dishonor Your name. May we be alert to the evils that surround us and our brothers and sisters in Christ and may we never compromise the truth of the glorious gospel of grace but be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Help us to withstand the wiles of the devil and be alert to his evil ways. May all we say and do be done in love - to Your honor and glory in Jesus name we pray, AMEN. Pride is an attribute about which the Bible has much to say. With pride comes destruction, dishonor, and wickedness. Indeed, Proverbs tells us: "Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord." Satan himself, we are told in Ezekiel, had a proud heart because of his beauty. His pride most certainly contributed to his fall from grace and expulsion from heaven. In contrast, with humility comes honor, grace, and gentleness. Let us learn from Jesus when He says, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." From the beginning of Genesis to the final Revelation of Jesus Christ, we discover that God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. He resists the arrogant but gives grace to those that are lowly of heart. Since all the evils of the world are conceived and birthed through the corruption of our own hearts and the lusts of our own flesh, James reminds us that God gives us grace and even greater grace, but also urges us not to abuse His mercies by imitating the ways of the world, which is at enmity with God, but rather to Walk In Spirit And Truth. We are to exhibit genuine mercy and deep humility of heart, knowing that the Lord bestows His grace generously to those that are humble of heart. Knowing that grace is given to the humble, we should earnestly seek after the precious fruit of the Spirit which will only develop and grow in the one that recognizes that every manifestation of sin is rooted in a proud and arrogant heart: "But He gives greater grace. Therefore, He says, But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for the great grace that You show to us every day of our lives. We pray that we would heed Your serious warnings against prideful boastings and not yield to any ungodly ways. Rather, may we come to You on bended knee with a broken and contrite heart. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The good news of salvation and life eternal, is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Whether Old Testament saints or New Testament believers, the only way to access this Free And Eternal Gift from the Father is to trust in His Word and believe in His Son. Faith is simply having the confidence that the future things God has revealed in His written Word, will unquestionably happen. The reformation verse that shattered corridors of Christendom was: "The just shall live by faith." The righteous man shall live by faith, the godly man, the virtuous woman, the justified sinner, the maturing believer, are to all live by faith, as well as being saved by faith. A living faith in God's Word and the confident hope in His promises are two graces that embrace each other in love at the foot of the Cross. This is not fingers-crossed and-hope-it-happens' type of faith. This is the faith that accepts without question that the Word of God is entirely dependable and is an indisputable fact. The eye of faith sees beyond our present reality and places its feet firmly on divine revelation given by Almighty God, through the Word-made-flesh. It believes God's Word of truth in the pages of Scripture, which was written for our learning, instruction, encouragement, and hope. The heart of faith enables us to treat as reality those things that are unseen, even when circumstances of life appear to contradict the truth of God's Word. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Our United Prayer:
Loving Father, we can be so entrenched in our own thinking that sometimes we doubt Your Word and question Your promises, often wishing we had some concrete proof of Your love for us. Forgive us, Lord - we know that Your Word gives us all the affirmation of this absolute reality that we need. Your Word and promises are sure, and Your faithfulness stretches beyond the limits of time and space. Thank You for the gift of faith. We pray that, day by day, our loving trust in You will become increasingly established within our hearts, we long to please You in all we say and do and are. In Jesus' name, AMEN. As the days get darker and the world becomes increasingly evil, the need for sincere Christian fellowship and encouragement becomes even more necessary. Every believer has been given spiritual gifts and graces that are to be used to encourage and exhort one another. Our spiritual gifts are to be used for the mutual edification, exhortation, teaching, consolation, building up, and encouragement of the Church of Christ. As members of His body, let us Seek To Use Our Gifts and graces to uplift and invigorate our brothers and sisters in the faith, and to welcome the encouragement and advice we receive from them. Let us never forget that we have gifts that differ from one another, according to the grace that has been given to us, and through the power of the Holy Spirit we should exercise our spiritual gifts and grace accordingly - not only for the mutual encouragement of one another.. but also for the honor and glory of His precious name. That is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are all members of Your body and that each one has been given gifts and graces that are to be used appropriately. Help us to live according to Your Word and to use our gifts and graces for the mutual encouragement of our brothers and sisters in Christ. May we all grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus, as we see the day of His return grow ever closer. This we ask, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
