It must have been devastating for the prophet Jeremiah to witness the fall of Jerusalem, the enslavement of his people, and the destruction of the holy Temple of God. He knew that the reason for this painful period in Israel's problematic history, was due to the gross sin and spiritual adultery of God's chosen people. Despite the inner turmoil that grieved his soul and the outer destruction he witnessed with his own eyes, this man was able to stand firm on his HOPE in God, knowing that His mercies are new every morning, the Lord is a faithful God and true to His Word and the same holds true today. As we see the systematic destruction of sound doctrine in Christianity today, as apostate teachers and false prophets infiltrate the churches of Christendom and seek to destroy the very foundation of our faith... and as we watch the shocking inhumanity of mankind towards others, and the unbelievable corruption that floods the corridors of governments, our hearts also grieve.. as we witness this painful period in our own problematic history. But like Jeremiah, we know in Whom we have believed and are persuaded that He is able to keep us and all that we have committed to Him. No matter what we may be called upon to suffer in this life. God is indeed faithful to His Word which cannot be broken. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, there are times when it seems that we are alone as we face life's difficulties, mourn over the spiritual decline that is overtaking the Church today, and grieve to see the shocking evil that is saturating the world. Thank You, Lord, that we are not alone, but are many of remnant of believers who put our HOPE in You and desire to do Your will. Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and that You are building up Your church to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN.

The full price of salvation was paid by Christ on Calvary's Cross and can never be gained in any other way, except as a free gift of grace. That salvation is accessed by Faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus, the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Mankind. No part of salvation can ever never be gained by our works, we can never be good enough to pay the price of sin. The amazing truth is that because of God's wonderful grace, sinners can be forgiven of their sins and saved from eternal death. This salvation is accessed by faith. We receive it when we believe. God gives us salvation when we trust in Jesus as our Savior. No one but Christ Jesus can ever take credit for our salvation. No one can justify themselves, sanctify themselves, or glorify themselves. Every aspect of salvation is a gracious gift from God and can only be accessed by faith in Christ as our Savior, not of works so that no one is able to boast. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Our United Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing us to a deeper understanding, that in ourselves there is no good things that are acceptable to You in our Christian lives. It is only by grace through faith in the work of the Son of God Who loved us and gave Himself for us, that makes us acceptable to You. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The word 'flesh' has many meanings and can refer to different things depending on the context... but in this verse the word 'flesh' is referring to the old sin nature - the fallen, fleshly, egocentric nature we inherited from Adam. In this passage 'flesh' refers to the old sinful self - 'the old man' as the Bible calls it. Works of the flesh are totally rejected by the Lord. Good deeds that are carried out by the old sin nature, however commendable they appear to be, are utterly rejected by God. The only way that we can return into fellowship with his Creator, is by becoming part of His new creation; where Christ is the federal Head of an entirely new race of humanity. The Christian life must not be focused on self, but on Christ. We are to live in the 'not I but Christ' realm. We are to die to our own sinful desires, lustful leanings, and self-elevating egocentricities. We are to keep the fleshly self, with all its pretense and self-deception, firmly nailed to the Cross and we are to Live Our Life For Christ Alone. As believers, we still retain our freewill, but in Christ we have received power over that old, fallen, sin nature as we die to self and live for Christ alone. If we permit the old sin nature to mount the throne of our life, we dishonor the Lord and will reap the bitter fruit of sinfulness, but if we keep the old man nailed to the Cross and live for Christ alone, we will reap the everlasting fruit of righteousness: For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are part of the new creation in Christ and have been freed from the ravages of sin, death, and hell, by faith in the shed blood of Christ on Calvary. Father, we want to live our lives in spirit and truth and keep the old sin nature out of commission and nailed to the Cross. Help us to honestly recognize any fleshly tendencies to which we may cling to and keep us, we pray, from sowing to our flesh. Rather, we ask that in the power of the Holy Spirit, that we may sow to the Spirit and live our lives in humble submission unto the Lord for His praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN. The book of Revelation gives great hope and encouragement to the believer. It not only tells how the Lord Jesus will right all wrongs and deal with the distressing evils of this world, but it also tells of the glorious Millennial Kingdom of Christ, and provides a tiny glimpse into the eternal ages to come, when all that was lost at the fall will have finally been restored to the Father through Jesus Christ, the God-Man. Tampering with Scripture to deliberately deceive and to present an alternative gospel, will result in the full-force of the accumulated bowls of God's rage and fury being meted out upon the heretic, which is truly a horrendous thing. It is not only the subject matter within the book of Revelation that must not be 'added-to' or 'taken-away from' but within the entire Scriptures, for the content of Revelation is intertwined in the many prophetic writings throughout the entire Word of God. There are an increasing number of people who delight to give extra-biblical 'revelation' from God, which is of serious concern, and there are many cults that have taken away The Basic Foundational Truths Of Our Christian Faith and superimposed a false gospel which is designed to deceive and destroy. May we take to heart these serious warnings and be sure that we do not give room to any false doctrine but stand firm on the unchangeable and unchanging truth of God's holy Word. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth of Your unchanging and unchangeable Word. May we all study to show ourselves approved unto God, and not be swayed by any wind of doctrine that covertly takes away or adds to Your Word of truth. Guide us into all truth, we pray, through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Enable us to share the truth in love and to challenge those that have deviated from Your Word for another gospel. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. We are told that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in the same way, pride is a germ that disseminates into all kinds of sin and strife. Pride can be displayed in many ways and is described by many words, such as arrogance, insolence, self-importance, and conceit. Pride is also displayed in boastings and bluster, condescension and contempt and superiority. As fallen men and women, we are disposed towards Prideful Self-Importance... and too often, arrogance and insolence are crouching at the door of our hearts. But God in His grace, reminds us that wisdom is the beautiful counterbalance to insolence and conceit which is so distasteful to the Lord. In this verse, we discover the importance of A Teachable Spirit. We read that, "wisdom is with those who receive counsel," and "wisdom is gained by those who take advice." The Bible is the Word of God which gives insight into God's heart and also instructs us on how to live godly lives in Christ Jesus. Let us take to heart all that the Lord is teaching us, as we read, mark, learn, inwardly digest, and apply God's Word in our lives. In doing so, we will not only be gaining wisdom from above but we will be honoring the Lord Who bought us, with His own blood. Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the words of wisdom that are found in Scripture. Keep us from prideful insolence and destructive strife and teach us to walk in your way, to receive wisdom, and to be willing to learn from godly counsel. Help us to take to heart all that is written in Your Word, and enable us, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to apply all that we learn in our everyday lives so that we may not only be good and faithful witnesses of Your love and grace, but be members of Your Body that honors Your holy name. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. |
