PRAYING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY
We were made one with Christ, united with Him, positioned in Him, brought back into fellowship with God our Maker, and given the right to enter the throne room of the Almighty to find grace to help in time of need. And we even became entitled to call Him - Our Father' by grace through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Although the power of sin was severed at the Cross, it seeks to retain authority in our lives. Although we were justified by grace through faith in Christ, we are too often willing to be influenced to sin by our old sin nature. Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus, and nothing can break our union with our living Lord, but sin breaks fellowship with the Father. Sin severs our communion with God. Sin is the barrier that the Christian can erect which breaks our fellowship with Himself and cuts us off from communion with the Father. BUT if a Christian confesses their sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Although our post-salvation sins were forgiven forever at the Cross of Christ, fellowship with the Father is broken when we allow the old sin nature to direct our lives, which means that the communion we once enjoyed with Him is broken. But if we take every thought captive to Christ, walk in the light as He is in the light, and if we confess any sinful acts and attitudes (whether they be wrong things that we have done or godly things that we have not done) God Is Faithful And Just To Forgive Us Our Sins, to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and to remember our sin no more. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that when Christ died, He paid the price for our sins and broke the power of sin in our lives. In Him, we have fellowship with You and free access to the throne of grace. We confess that we have not always walked in spirit and truth but have given in to the temptations to follow the desires and cravings of our own hearts. We are sorry for doing things that were displeasing to You and omitting to do those things that were pleasing to You but thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive all our sins and to keep on cleansing us from unrighteousness. In Jesus' name We Pray, AMEN.

Christian conduct touches on every area of life. It should affect all we say and do at home, at work, in the community, or when we are completely alone. In Roman 13, Paul gives some important instruction on Christian conduct in two areas - the way we behave towards the government and how we should conduct ourselves towards our neighbor. Paul makes it crystal clear that, "Love Does No Wrong To A Neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law." We are commanded to do no evil towards the people we meet in everyday life and to love them in practical ways. Loving the people that cross our path experientially, day by day, living a life of integrity and showing consideration towards others is the mark of a true believer who is walking in spirit, in truth, and in love. Both secular souls and those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will often quote, "The Golden Rule" which is, "love your neighbor as yourself." It was first written in Leviticus by Moses and was quoted and expounded by the Lord Jesus, and this command is further referenced in the letter to the Romans. While the Mosaic Law was given to Israel, and Christ's ministry was to the Jews first, Paul calls on Christians to follow this Golden Rule as well, in doing so, we will live a life that is well-pleasing to the Lord, honors our Father in heaven, "and is the fulfilment of God's Law." Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the source of life and the fountain-spring of love. Help us to carry out Your will for our lives, and may we love as Christ loves. We pray that we would do no wrong, in thoughts, words, or deeds, to our families, friends, or neighbors. And help us to show the love of Christ to all with whom we come in contact today. This we ask in Jesus' precious name and for His greater glory. AMEN. Legalistic rules about giving, together with the unbiblical 'word of faith' movement and its prosperity teaching has given Christians an unbiblical focus, dishonored the gospel of grace, and brought Christianity into disrepute. Legalism and prosperity teachings has placed many into bondage under unbiblical, man-made rules. It has twisted the truth of Scripture and dishonored the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Each one must give according to what he himself has decided and in accordance with his means, and not in compliance with legalistic rules, selfish motives, or in response to a false preacher's greedy distortion of biblical giving. We Are To Be Wise In Our Giving, to give according to our personal means, and not to feel embarrassed or obligated to give more that we have purposed in our heart simply because our gift is smaller in quantity or appears inconsequential by comparison with that of another. Cheerful giving that proceeds from a heart that loves to do the will of the Lord in spirit and in truth is applauded while a gift that is given grudgingly, comes from a heart that has misunderstood the true purpose of giving and which sadly misses the blessings that stream into the life of a faithful and true disciple of the Lord. Let us give of our time as well as our money. Let us offer our love to the Lord as well as our finances. Perhaps we should all examine the hidden motives of our heart as we give of our time, our money, our skill, and our talents, to see if our hearts are filled with joy and grateful thanks for all that Christ has done for us. Or, if we are still using our Christian giving in response to legalist bondage, selfish motives, or for any other unbiblical purpose. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us all things richly to enjoy and that everything we have comes from You. May we never be under the illusion that we can out give Your over-abounding gift of grace, in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. May we give faithfully, cheerfully, and generously of our time, our talents, and our money. May the motive behind our giving be pure and ever open to Your scrutiny. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Peacemakers are not the people who simply want peace or long for peace. They are not the governments that pass laws on peace, or legislators who write policies on peacekeeping. Peacemakers are those whom the Lord God uses to bring reconciliation to a fallen world. As Christians, We Have Peace With God Through Faith, and have been made ministers of reconciliation, so that fallen sinners may be reconciled back to God and gain true peace in their heart. God in His grace has reconciled those who believe in the Lord Jesus to Himself, and through Christ, we have been given this important ministry of reconciliation, so that the world may know that God is the Lord and Saviour of mankind. Christ came to earth to reveal God's goodness and grace, and His death on the cross opened the way for fallen man to find peace with God - to be reconciled back to Him through faith in His Son. Mankind seeks after empty happiness and longs for peace in a world at war, but the child of God who has been saved by grace through the sacrificial work of Christ on Calvary's cross, gains more than happiness. He is blessed to be reconciled to God and to have peace with Him through the forgiveness of sin. But there is so much more, for we who have peace with God, in a world at war, and we have the peace of God within. We have been promised when we rest in Him and walk in spirit and truth, His peace will guard our heart and guide our path. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Our United Prayer:
We thank You, Heavenly Father, that we have peace with You through the death of Jesus, our Savior. We pray we may be peace-makers in the place that You have put us, by maintaining fellowship with You and by sharing the gospel of grace with all we may meet. May we be used as Your instruments of godly reconciliation and peace-making in this distressed world. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We are instructed to Keep The Eyes Of Our Heart Upon Jesus Who has promised to carry all our burdens and to comfort us in all our affliction so that we may offer solace to others who are also weighed down by the cares of this world and oppressed by evil-doers. As we change our focus onto the Lord, so our faith in Him is excited within our heart and we are encouraged to trust in the Lord and do good , to feed on His faithfulness so that we may become strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. We are to believe His promises and hold fast to the Word of truth. When our will is aligned with the will of God, as was intended in the beginning, then the things that delight our Heavenly Father will naturally become the joy of our own heart. When we delight ourselves in the Lord and take pleasure in the things that are uppermost on God's own heart, we will discover that they become the joy of our heart – and we will be able to spiritually appraise all things and to say that we are one with Him and have the mind of Christ. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive us for the times when we have delighted ourselves in wrong things. Keep us from fretting over evildoers in this increasingly confusing world, and help us to keep the eyes of our hearts on Jesus and to delight ourselves in the things of God. Align our thoughts to Your thoughts, we pray, and our will to the will of God. May the desires of our hearts unite with Your will and eternal purposes, for Your everlasting praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. A godly character that reflects the likeness of Christ, is one that loves others as Christ loved us. The love about which the Bible speaks, is different from every other type of human love, and is uniquely imparted to the child of God from the Spirit of truth and love. Loving in word, is contrasted with loving in deed. It is translating one's affectionate words into meaningful, practical deeds, through the grace of God. The former is to talk about caring, while the latter is to express unconditional love, in action. Loving in tongue is contrasted with loving in spirit and in truth. The former is an insincere and artificial affection, while the latter is a genuine godly love that is manifested in a life that cares for the concerns of others before one’s own needs or wishes. Make no mistake – To Love In Deed And In Truth is not something that we can do for ourselves, however hard we try! We cannot love in deed and in truth through a training program, mental exertion, or fleshly effort. To love in deed and in truth is a love that comes directly from God, Himself, and can only be manifested in the life of a born-again believer who is walking in spirit and truth. Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that we are Your children and that Christ died to pay the price for our sins. Thank You that He rose again so that we could become new creations in Christ, receiving our new lives in Him. May the love of the Lord Jesus flood and fill our beings, that it not only flows out to others in thoughts and words, but in spirit, in truth, and in our every action and attitude. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. Our outstanding joy, eternal hope, and unassailable victory is in Christ Jesus our Lord. With this in mind, after cataloging a fearsome list of the most traumatic circumstances that may impact our lives or afflict us in the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms, and having proclaimed that nothing can separate us from Christ's love. It Is Through Christ Jesus Our Lord That We Are Saved, and it is in Him that we are overwhelming winners and irrepressible victors. No matter what sufferings and difficulties we may face, our Savior is able to work everything together for our eternal good and for His greater glory, and He does this because of His great love for each one of us. We do not crawl out of our difficulties and distresses bloodied and bruised. We emerge from every situation triumphantly, victorious through Him Who loved us and gave Himself for us. Let us believe His Word which states: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us". Let us live our lives in the expectation that we will not only overcome in the future but that we are already victorious now ,through Him Who loves us. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, we praise Your wonderful name for this glorious truth that no matter what happens in our lives, we are conquerors through Christ Who loves us and gave Himself for us. Help us not only to see this as a future hope but as a present victory in Him today. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. When Christ shouted, "It Is Finished," He had paid the full price for our sins, and there is now no condemnation to all who believe on His name. When Christ burst forth from the sealed tomb, the angels joyfully proclaimed, "He is Risen!" Our resurrected Savior broke the power of death and hell forever, and the enemy of man's soul became a defeated adversary who was bound for the lake of fire. Christ's gained a triumphant victory over sin and death on the Cross, which climaxed with His glorious resurrection from the dead, and this verse gives insight into what His glorious resurrection means for all who are in Christ. Every member of Christ's Body will be transformed, spirit, soul, and body, and this perishable body will be changed into an imperishable body, and this mortal will put on immortality. The day is coming when this corruptible will be clothed with incorruptibility and our mortal frame will be clothed with immortality. The time is fast approaching when we will proclaim, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. Thanks be to God, Who gives us the Victory Through Our Lord Jesus Christ." Our jubilant shout of triumphant thanksgiving and victory will resound throughout the eternal ages to come: But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our United Prayer: Loving Father, how much we love You and praise Your name for ever and ever. We are not worthy to pick up the crumbs under Your table and yet You have raised us up and seated us together with Christ Jesus in heavenly places, by sending Your only begotten Son to pay the incredible price for our sins and to break the power of death in our lives. We praise Your name for ever and ever. All glory and honor and might and majesty be Yours, for ever and ever, AMEN. There are certain character traits that are earthly, fleshly, sensual, and demonic, and there are those that are spiritual, holy, and godly. Only those that are born again believers who walk in spirit and truth, are enabled to display the good and godly attributes that come from above, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Both unsaved sinners and carnal Christians who carry out the works of the flesh, can display the ungodly characteristics associated with envy, jealousy, selfish ambition, and the pride of life which manifest in disorder and every evil thing. Many have rejected true wisdom in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus, and have chosen to live their lives according to their own perceived intelligence, which results in jealousy, envy, ambition, strife, and every kind of evil work. Seek After The Wisdom That Comes From God, which is a pure wisdom in thought, word, and deed. Continue to strive after the wisdom from above, which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits – unwavering and without hypocrisy. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. Our United Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the power of God and the wisdom of God and that in Him is no confusion or shifting shadows. We know that the enemy likes to bind us up in confusing webs of lies, fear, and doubt. May we resist the devil and keep our eyes focused on Jesus alone. This we ask in Jesus' holy name, AMEN. Assuredly, we should bless the Lord with the whole of our being, for the Lord inhabits the praises of His children. Surely, we should sing and make joyful music in our hearts to the Lord our God, for He Alone Is Worthy Of All The Glory, might, dominion, power, praise, and blessing. This is no self-centered, superficial form of worship, but a yearning desire deep within that is overwhelmed by Who God is and what He has done for all who trust in the Son of His love. When we consider our wonderful Creator, our heart is filled with awe and wonder at His mighty power and the vastness of His great wisdom; but when we consider the nails that pierced His hands and feet, the crown that tore His head, and the sword that thrust His side all for love of His own, and when we consider that Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, to make her holy, to cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word, is it not our glorious privilege to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, bow down before Him with our whole body, soul, and spirit, and praise our mighty Savior and King for ever and ever? Never forget to praise the LORD and remember all the good things He does for us all. He forgives all our sins. He heals all our diseases. He redeems us from death. He crowns us with love and tender mercies. He fills our lives with good things. He renews our youth like the eagle's. Praise the Lord! Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, Our United Prayer: Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, we worship, praise and bless You with our whole beings, You are a great, mighty, and wonderful God, and we love You, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
