PRAYING TOGETHER AS A FAMILY
Legalistic rules about giving, together with the unbiblical 'word of faith' movement and its prosperity teaching has given Christians an unbiblical focus, dishonored the gospel of grace, and brought Christianity into disrepute. Legalism and prosperity teachings has placed many into bondage under unbiblical, man-made rules. It has twisted the truth of Scripture and dishonored the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The principles and promises that are connected with true, biblical giving, identifies cheerful giving as an obedient, generous heart and a beautiful Christian grace that brings blessings to others and glory to our Father in heaven. The motives that should be behind all Christian giving- Each one must give according to what he or she has decided and in accordance with their means, and not in compliance with legalistic rules, selfish motives, or in response to a false preacher's greedy distortion of biblical giving Perhaps we should all examine the hidden motives of our heart as we give of our time, our money, our skill, and our talents, to see if our hearts are filled with joy and grateful thanks for all that Christ has done for us - or if we are still using our Christian giving in response to legalist bondage, selfish motives, or for any other unbiblical purpose. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us all things richly to enjoy and that everything we have comes from You. May we never be under the illusion that we can out give Your over-abounding gift of grace, in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. May wee give faithfully, cheerfully, and generously of our time, our talents, and our money. May the motive behind our giving be pure and ever open to Your scrutiny. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN. God has promised to go before us, to lead us and prepare the way we take, even when we let Him down. He has promised to be with us on our journey through life and to stay with us through all the circumstances of life - even during those times when we prove faithless. God has promised never to leave us alone and one day, He will take us with Himself forever. God's Word is to be trusted. God's Word is as trustworthy today as it was in the times of Moses. Let us never be afraid or discouraged, we have God's assurance that He will not leave us nor forsake us - and let us never forget that God's Word is to be trusted. Praise God, that even when we are weak and our faith fails, He remains faithful, His Word is true and He remains faithful, He cannot deny Himself. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Our United Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the truth that is contained in the Scriptures. Sometimes we wish we could see the glory or be led by a pillar of fire, but we understand that today we live by faith in Your Word and not by sight. Thank You for Your promises to be with us, to lead and to guide us, to protect us, and supply all our needs, according to Your riches in glory. We praise Your holy name that Your Word is true! Glory be to Your holy name, in Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. The world in which we live is a fallen world; a place of sufferings and trials, a time of heartaches and problems; a life of difficulties and sickness, and a season of disappointments and death. Afflictions and anguish stalk our path like a hungry pack of wolves and they are no respecter of persons or position, clime or creed, wise or foolish, young or old, believer or unbeliever. If this were all that life offered to humanity, we would indeed be the most miserable of species, we would remain dead in trespasses and sins, without God and without any hope in the world. Suffering and all its aggressive associates pale into blinded insignificance when placed in their correct eternal perspective, when laid alongside the truth of the gospel and the glory that shines forth from its eternal pages, they are not even worthy to be considered in the same breath as our reality in Christ and our eternal heavenly future. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for Your wonderful words of wisdom in Scripture. May we become so firmly grounded in the truth of Your Word and the glory that it reveals, that we can place the sufferings of this present time in their correct perspective. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. Those that are to become His children are to be equally one with Him. Just as He is one with the Father, we are to be one IN Christ. We are born of the Holy Spirit and made one with Him, we are a new creature in Christ. As the shadow of the Cross loomed closer, Jesus prayed that all those who were to one day become part of His Body would be one with Him and one with each other: "May they be completely one, just as we are one." Just as Christ's life witnessed of His oneness and unity with the Father, so His prayer for you and me is that our lives are to be one with Him and in unity with each other "so that the world may know that You sent Me and that You have loved them as you loved Me." I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, unite Your children in the bond of love and fellowship with Yourself so that those that are Your children may abide in You and You in us. May we be true witnesses to the world of Your great salvation. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. We have the mind of Christ; to think as He did, to speak as He did, to live as He did, and to behave as He did. And so individually and collectively, we have the means to walk and live and pray in spirit and truth. If we, as children of God, have received His goodness and grace, comfort and hope, we are to maintain the same goodness, grace, comfort, and love, and be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace. The challenge to all believers is to faithfully and committedly develop a Christlike character, demonstrating the same love that He displayed. We are to be united in spirit and fervent in love, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Let us all be diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, with all our brothers and sisters in Christ. May the patience, humility, gentleness, and love we show to each other be known to all, as together we draw near to God. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray that we may show forth the grace of Christ, the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, in thoughts, words, and deeds. May we keep the unity of the Spirit with all our brothers and sisters in Christ so that we may honor Your name through our earthly witnesses. In Jesus' name we pray, AMEN. |
